The financial report, which included comments from Chief Executive Yves Guillemot, is indicative of Ubisoft’s initiative to create titles for the so-called Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox 720 and Sony Corp. (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4.
At the present, Ubisoft has confirmed plans of developing titles that would work on the Nintendo Co. Ltd. (PINK:NTDOY) Wii U, a console set to debut on November 18 in the United States.
According to Guillemot, “From a longer-term perspective, (the) WiiU’s [sic] progression and the arrival of the next generation of consoles, combined with the strong momentum in the Free-to-Play model for PC, mobile and tablet games, will enable us to capitalize on the investments we have made in recent years.”

For some reason this sentence scares me, as if they have to go out of their way to make the games work on Wii U. Which I guess they kinda do if they want to include some kinda GamePad functionality, but still..........

So just because it came out first, it doesn't make it next gen? Were the Genesis, PlayStation, Dreamcast, and Xbox 360 not next-gen at the twine of their release?Read the last paragraph. It talks about how the next generation of consoles will arrive after the Wii U is already out.

Good to know Ubisoft's including the Wii U in it's future plans. Maybe they're already putting plans together for a sequel for Rayman Legends if the game does well?
