I need help. I have just picked up my new Wii u console today only to get home and have the gamepad tell me over and over that it will not connect to the console and to turn the power off and get closer. I have done this over and over and the gamepad still displays the same message yet whenever I try to press sync on the console again, the gamepad displays a message saying it is already paired with the console. the screen also says the gamepad is ready for use but the gamepad screen just keeps saying it can't connect. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just a defective unit?

Trying holding the sync button on both things for 20 seconds to reset the settings, then try again.

-.- yes I tried syncing it! I followed all the instructions to the letter. the wii u gamepad itself can even turn on the console when I press power, its just the same message is constantly shown saying the gamepad can't connect to the console, please move closer and turn the power off then on. doesnt work.

Does it actually have enough charge in it to do it? Charge it for an hour, and try again.

I have sold my Wii U, so if I deleted you from NN before I sold it, or haven't accepted your friend request since, this is why.

I will try charging it, I just saw in the manual after looking it over again that it it recommended that you fully charge the gamepad before using it for the first time. will let everyone know if it works.

Ok, I figured it out on mine easily. Sync console, sync Wii U, then on your tv screen will be 4 little card icons. Enter them on your game pad from your tv screen from left to right. There ya go :-)
Playing: NSMBU, Batman: Arkham City, Disney Epic Mickey, & Nintendoland. Black console.
Getting: Skylanders Giants for Wii U, White Vita bundle, Gravity Rush, LBP, Uncharted: Golden Abyss,
& Persona 4: Solid Gold Premium Collector's Edition. Gonna be awesome Christmas :-)

Sync console and sink Wii U? What? The console IS the Wii U.

did all that, I think my problem is the gamepad just isnt fully charged and the console is making me have to charge it till its full before it connects for some reason. still waiting for it to charge though. I did all that stuff where you type in the symbols and it displayed that screen saying it wouldnt connect, try holding it closer. when the power button on the gamepad itself is pushed, it WILL turn on the console, it will also say when i try to re-sync that it is already paired with the console so on some degree it must be synced, it just wont let me do anything until i charge it i think. i will just have to wait and see if the problem persists after charging

I'm hearing about a few problems with the GamePad, one that stands out the most is a dude on the IGN forums who had the image of the last game that he played burnt into the screen, kinda like the problems consoles have with plasma screen TV's

I know I feel for that dude, I hope it's not a wide spread problem.

Tell me about it I'm sure if this is a real wide spread problem there should be more reports about it in the next 24 hours.

why would you make a game controller were the image burns in but I hope this dont happen to all of us wtf. This is like the 360 launch all over again all it takes is 1 person to report a problem and it spreads like the plauge. You also got to factor in that they were rushing at all the sweat shops to get out as much as they could so the quality might suffer on some units. This is why its always good to wait but a lot of us including me dont want to wait for new video game tech

What a way to start Wii U Day, huh? That really sucks, but at least he can replace.

Yeah I suppose lol, I'm just waiting to hear if this is a wide spread problem, it could just be the odd one, but I need to know.

I know the PS Vita screen has this problem if you look at an image for prolonged periods of time. What kind of screen does the gamepad use?
