It should work. You just should remember that flash memory has a limited amount of writes (in the thousands, probably even higher), so it'd be wise to back up the data you store on it if you keep things like save data on it. HDDs don't have a limit, but they can die.

Yea go ahead, but I'm sure DLC and actual games can only be stored on the console or external HDD.

I believe Wii U saved games can also only be stored on the internal storage or an external hard drive. I don't think there is any confirmation of what can actually be stored on the SD cards and external USB memory sticks.

Extenal memory sticks comes up as a HDD so I do not see the problem of using one. I myself am only going to get a 32 gb SD card and call it a day. I know I will not buy a lot of games for the system and that is more than enough storgae for me. No need for me to get a external hard drive. I don't need that much space and it is too much of a pain to format it back after the Wii formats it itself.

Just curious what you're getting the SD card for? Since I don't think you can play eshop games on it without a usb adaptor, I don't see the point of such a big SD card when the internal memory is enough for saving games, etc. Wouldn't a thumbdrive be cheaper anyways?

It would but I can get a 32 gb card for about 20.00, which is really nothing. That is enough size for me just in case I might get something on the eshop, but knowing me I probably won't.

In that case I suggest checking out Newegg. :) And yup, as long as you use a usb adapter, you could put eshop games on the SD card.
