Seriously, the wiiU is an awesome console. The whole experience on the wiiU is unlike any other console out there now. The gamepad is brilliant, the graphics on trine 2, black ops & zombie u are quality. Miiverse is a great way to socialise, and is almost like a game in itself. Specs clearly aren't everything, the wiiU is more than capable of producing next gen games, new experiences.
Makes ya wonder what the ps4 and 720 can do now, that will make them unique to current ps3/360..just increasing specs is pointless. Look at some of the games already on ps3 by the way, heavy rain, last of us comes out next year and beyond. They don't look like they can get much better.
The wiiU's unique gamepad and software makes this next gen gaming. ..the games are a plus ;)

The wii u is next generation just like the wii is current generation. The generation bit only refers to its release time it doesn't relate to its performance. The wii u has a specifiication that is current gen when compared to 360 and PS3 but much more advanced when compared to the original wii. However what ever its specification it is in a similar launch window to Xbox 720 and PS4 which should arrive next year. Just like the Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube and original Xbox were the same generation before despite the Xbox being hugely more powerful than Dreamcast and PS2 and there being a couple years gap between launches of Dreamcast to Xbox.

Microsofor will have Kinect 2.0, and PS4 will have a DualShock 4.0 with a screen. I mean, come on, Sony only copies. That is all they can do.

If you don't believe me, the original DualShock is an SNES controller with two extra buttons on the top and handels. The next one added Joysticks and rumble after Thr N64. Then motion control. Then the PS Move. They did try to innovate with the EyeToy, and I must admit the touch buttons on back of the PS Vita are a good touch.

But mostly, it is Nintendo leading, Sony following.

Tecnically, the Wii U is current-gen. Ps360/Wii are previous gen.

For Nintendo this is a next gen system for sure. As long as you do not compare it to the other consoles with similar specs.

For me, the gamepad and Miiverse give the Wii U an advantage over the other consoles. The real test will come when the next Xbox and Playstation consoles come out.

That I can agree with. Will the Wii U continue to sell well after the others are released? I believe it will. The Wii U won't be the next Dreamcast, but the next PS2 (meaning I believe the Wii U will be number one again, but not as successful as the Wii).

But I have been wrong before, and certainly can be wrong again.
