What will make this light up? I have it set to on in settings, but curious as to what functions use that.

When you get a notification.. A simple search would have provided you with multiple threads and your answer.

The home button lights up when one of your friends goes online or if you have a call via video chat. Im not sure about anything else tho.

I have seen it flash once or twice, VERY briefly, easy to miss. In its current state, its pretty much useless IMO. I would much prefer a simple popup like on PS3/Xbox 360 for when your friends come online.

Yeah, if nothing else it could stay on a while longer.

It seems to blink twice when friends come online. Not sure if it does the same for incoming calls.
It should at least do something different like flash rapidly or stay solid for 5 seconds, but either
way, pop-up notifications are the way to go IMO.

I actuall found the 360s pop up notifications very annoying, especially when I was in a cut scene

It flashes twice for a friend coming online and continuously flashes for a video/voice call
