I have tried multiple articles. I finally get on one that is promising;
http://techforums.ni...om/thread/18064

And then in the middle there's some vague nonsense saying something about seeing which IPs are free, but nothing like that is listed ANYWHERE.

About to give up for the day and just try again tomorrow. So upset.

Set your ip and dns up manually.
Google how to find your computer's LOCAL ip address.
Mine is 192.168.0.100 or 101.
You need to pick an address around that range, so if your computer's local ip is 192.168.0.2 use 192.168.0.3for your wii u.
The options are in connections, which you need to look in the corner in internet settings for, I think.
I'm nowhere near my wii u.

MOST MOSTEDLY.
Did you put in the right subnet and gateway addresses as well?
Usually the subnet would be 255.255.255.0 or something like that, it will be the same place your ip address is, same with gateway.
You also have to specify the dns servers, the 8.8.8.8 and 4 ones are google's i think.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.

most things say for windows, just go to the start menu and search "run" and you'll get all of your settings. BUT there is no freaken start menu on windows 8! I've tried looking other places but can't find where the ip address /DNS settings are. help!

(I just got mine for christmas)

Yes sir. Did all that. I almost cut the whole house off from the internet when I applied a password I didn't know. Had to call TWC to fix it.

Oh well, it's still no big deal yet. I'm sure a good guide will come out.

Press the windows key and type cmd.
Then do ipconfig

It'd be easier to click the little network icon and do stuff that way though really, but I dunno how much it's changed since the developer preview and don't remember what it looked like.

Well I fixed it. Had to add it as a NAT Passthrough, delete it, the add it to the DCHP leases. Going to start updating it tomorrow.
