I grabbed a wii u for xmas for the family and decided to grab some generic wii remotes off ebay. They will sync but then quit working and not light up at all..or just once will sync then not work. When I pop the batteries out and back in all 4 lights flash as though its looking for a wii but wont connect with Wii U

any suggestions would be helpful

Did you plug in/set up the Wii sensor bar that came with the Wii U?

Ok, hmm...I was having some trouble with a new Wii Remote earlier and strangely enough the problem was being caused by a string of Christmas lights that I had on near the TV. When I turned off those lights the remote began to work immediately. Are there any sources of interference (light, wireless stuff, etc) around your Wii?

Other than that, all I can say is...it may just be the cheap generic remotes from eBay. :( Maybe they were designed to work with the Wii but don't have the same functionality with Wii U?

I've had problems connecting, bit it's usually because the game hadn't supported them so they auto disconnect, or I didn't have the nunchuk connected. Same happened with the pro controller when it's not compatible.
