About 20 minutes ago I was in the eshop purchasing New Super Mario Brothers U, I put in my credit card details and whatnot, getting as far as the "click this button to finish the transaction" phase.

I click it, and get an error code timeout.

No biggie, I go back into the store later and see that there is still a "purchase" button on the game and no download waiting to start.

After going through support.nintendo.com's suggestions about internet connection and checking my bank account I can honestly say my Wii U has no clue that I own New Super Mario Bros U, but Nintendo still has a $63 charge going to my paypal account.

Is there anything I can do that would get my download started tonight?

I'd say check the download management section ( find it by pressing the home button). If the game is not there, then you will have to call Nintendo.

If it is not showing up as purchased or in your download list via the eShop then you're likely out of luck. Nintendo will basically slap you in the face and tell you, "There is nothing we can do" most likely. As content is locked to one console & can only be put on a new console via sending it to Nintendo & said content is on the device and/or purchased to said account being put through the transfer. Nintendo does not even count Club Nintendo as a purchase history either so you are most likely out of luck.

What I would suggest being as it is on PayPal, is to flag he charge. Sort of prevent it from going through and being processed to your card.

Definitely flag the charge with Paypal or your bank if it was a debit card transaction. If you flag with your bank they will probably give you a provisional credit pending investigation. Make sure you literally explain to your bank how effed up Nintendo's digital purchases are in relation to being tied into the console that a game is purchased on. At that point Nintendo will not be able to try to dispute your claim, and maybe more situations like this will do some good and force Nintendo to change this ridiculous policy.

well if nintendo doesnt do anything about it, you can always sue them and if your lucky, get a few million. its no joke. check your club nintendo too, well i dont know actually, forget that. but if they can figure out that your wii u console did try to purchase the game, and they have the records that you did and kinda notices something is wrong, they can easily give you a download code.

You can't really sue them (at least in the US. I know the UK and I believe some countries within Europe have a law for end users ownership of select digital content), as when you sign up & press that agree button you are agreeing to those said terms of service. Never bought anything off the eShop so not sure if it does this too. Though some services even have a agreement you tick before you complete the transaction. Unless your country has some kind of law for said digital rights & that said company is going outside the law you can not really win. You are basically wasting time and money as it could be any outcome being as there is no real law on it. Along with the fact I am sure Nintendo can get some fancy pants lawyer or at least pour tons of money into winning so that you are nothing but a lost cause.
