Though i am very excited about the next zelda game on the wii u i can't help but think nintendo needs to do somthing different with the story.

In all games Link is either aged 8 to around 19, for once i'd like to see a much more, eh how do i say.. 'rugged' & older link maybe in his late 20s or early 30s. He could have a more 'manly' jawline that is squared up and be a bit more beefer in muscle tone.

somthing like this.. get rid of the beard and clean up the face a little, id like to play a link that is more of battle hardened warrior.

For a story it would be cool if this took place in a alternate timeline to ocarina of time where at age 18 in the future he was not successful in defeating gannon and has spent the next 10/12 years in hiding while everyone in the hyrule has been killed ( including his family )

lol, its 7-17
that aside, oh god, please dont do this, change is good and all, but this is the wrong kind of change(and 95% of the time his family is already dead or never heard from)

I could not find a picture that matches what i am thinking.. pretty much what link looks like now just more rugged and less 'girly' looking. Link could have a little brother or sister that is killed by gannon infront of him, ashamed and alone Link flees to the gerudo desert for the next 10 years and comes back to find a almost now satanic like hyrule that is almost but burnt down to the ground

It's kinda like that episode of dextars lab..

Game characters should never age. For a good example at what could go wrong look at Solid Snake from MGS4.

Personally I think he's fine the way he is and any change in his age or appearance would be a detriment to the franchise.

I still do not get the need for "uber hardcore buff M-rated Zelda games." The games (Skyward Sword aside, way too much fluff in an otherwise good game) don't need a dramatic change like that.

I dont need one of the last bastions of unfettered gaming to also resort to pandering to adolescent male power fantasies.

Link Possess the triforce of COURAGE, not power.

Yuck, action movies are fun and all, but they don't always translate well into games. Not only that, but trying to mesh maturity, buffness, anger, and killing in Link would make it pretty bland and boring, as it will end up a bad sub-par clone of Skyrim.

Link Possess the triforce of COURAGE, not power.

This.
This makes your game idea impossible, as link will never run away or hide away, as he will take up Gannon's challenge whenever.

Game characters should never age. For a good example at what could go wrong look at Solid Snake from MGS4.

The guy base snake I'm him self. So that's why he aged. He plan to stop making them, but someone else took over. Either way, I like the fact that he ages band it's brought us raiden. And his own game.

Now back to link. I don't think he should age pass a teen unless they are going to end it and start with someone else.
Or we could do an age with time travel. So he can be a kid, teen and full grown adult. That may work.
Either way he shouldn't be that ruff or that old as in the art work up there.

The Zelda games are for the most part a coming of age tale. Changing Link into a buffed up generic looking hero would take all that away, and make the games much less enjoyable.
Sorry, but I'm very against this idea.

Game characters should never age. For a good example at what could go wrong look at Solid Snake from MGS4.

Also, I'm sorry but how was this a bad thing? That whole game had one of the most touching stories in any game ever, and it wouldn't of worked without Old Snake.

Be wary, the suck is coming.

Ocarina and Link to the past played with Time so why not the future?

I think just changing the art style is good enough. I think a borderlands 2 kind-of art style would be interesting.

In the older zelda games most civilians were human, I don't like how the trend for more and more fantasy characters develop. Sure, some strange races are ok but where are the human cities and villages. They might have never been there in a large rpg'esquetrend but I'd love to have Link visit some more classic villages, with humans. Fantasy is okay but I'd like it a bit more realistic too.

That's a nice drawing! But no thanks, keep Link young.
