was just thinking about a response i got in another thread and got tho thinking that if third party devs are scared to lose money by porting games to the wii u, how much money would it even cost to just add an inventory to the game pad? if they are worried about the costs of manufacturing and shipping games, then couldnt they just sell them on the eshop? my guess is, that they would atleast make their money back if they just did that. now i would rather have a game that used the gamepad more that that... but it would be better than nothing.

Here are the three lazy ways for porting to Wii U and Gamepad:
  • Put name of game on Gamepad screen
  • Make the TV and Gamepad similar and have everything that is going on the TV on the Gamepad (in other words NSMBU)
  • The only functionality between the TV and Gamepad is being able to play the game on the Gamepad screen

I think it would be very easy and cheap to add something simple like inventory. I think the programing would be similar any touch screen device. Also if they just use it as off TV play they just need to stream it to the gamepad.

While I love it when games use it in cool ways (ZombiU, Aliens, and Nintendoland), most of the time I'm cool with having the hud, map, inventory, and shortcut commands there. While this example isn't on the Wii U, Snake Eater 3D made perfect use of the touchscreen: all of the hud was moved to the bottom so there was nothing blocking the game, you had a radar which made the cave section so much more bearable, and you had shortcuts to your camo, equipment, medicine and food. I would take conveniences over forced uses.

Im not sure if you guys understand how things work.
IF the game is a remake to be ported. i.e. Darksider, mass effect etc..

Then they will have to pay people to port the game over. Then they have to pay to make it on disc. Now if it was a downloadable only game then they may lose money. To tel the truth i wouldnt buy it if it was download only.

So they got to take that into account with how much they would make off of the remake. Also it if there porting all these old games they dont have time to work on the new ones.

Now if its a new game like cod. Then its been build from the start and most of those games have the gamepad in mind from the start

i dont think they would lose any money by puting them on the eshop. and im not saying to port all the old ones, i mean to port the ones they are working on or that are about to be released lik tomb raider. and i doubt it would cost much to have an inventory screen put on the game pad, or even lazier, to just put the name or stream the same thing from the tv as koopaman said.

same here. like i said, i would rather have games be made with wii u in mind to take advantage of the gamepad, but im not going to complain if they dont have time to do that and ony put an inventory or something just s it gets put on the system.

when i get a wii u, i would like it to replace my 360 and be my only game system.

its not going to have anywhere near the support the 360 had. If you are going to want to have lots if the good third party game j would stick with PS or Xbox or PC.

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

that shouldnt cost much beyond the time they pay the developers to do it. any costs past that doesnt make sence. i just think its morly a excuse not to port because tehy dont want to say they will make less money.

probly wont have that support, but i do expect better support next time around. nintendo is already attempting to get exclusives and exclusive 3rdparty games(like xbox had in the beginning of its lifecycle). then all those games got ported to PS3/PC, some to wii. nintendo came out first this time around. nintendo is trying to get the advantige early to have enough people with a wiiU that 3rdparty develops for it. but early support is unlikly to be even with xbox 3rdparty. might get there if wiiU skyrockets better than 3DS which would give it plenty of 3rdparty for teh last 2/3rds of its life.

If they want they could possibly not even use the gamepad and utilize the extra power that would usually go to streaming and rendering the gamepads screen to make games look even better. :o Maybe this could be their secret way to boost graphics when the PS4 and 720 come out! Ermagerd!

Simple function for the game pad. Supposed when the VC for wiiu is released you can re download nes games you have for wii fo a buck something and snes games for I think a buck fifty and that adds game pad play support, and miiverse support so they shouldn't have to much trouble at least I would hope.
