Warm Bodies
So I just returned from the movies. I watched Warm Bodies which is pretty much a Romio and Juliet type of story set in a zombie apocolypse. This movie is actually pretty good. Don't be deceived by the Kristen Stewart lookalike - This ain't another Twilight. It's a pretty fresh take on the zombie genre.
The plot is pretty simple and pretty predictable. If you've seen the trailer, it does a fairly good job at showing what to expect. Basically, a zombie begins to feel an attraction towards a girl and saves her from becoming zombie chow. The two bond and begin an unlikely relationship. The film kinda delves in the state of humanity and how "zombie-like" we sort of are. R, the male lead and zombie protagonist, expresses how listeing to vinyl records makes him feel alive, prefering them over the more common and popular mp3 players we use to listen to music on the go. It doesn't try to hit this message home hard, but it's definitely there.
And as stated before, it's a different take on Romeo and Juliet. Humanity is against this relationship (as most would), but R tries to prove that the zombies can change and be more like humans. Overall, the movie is pretty heartwarming and it's worth watching I think. Plus, it introduced me to this great song:
With all that said, anyone watch this movie? Thoughts?
