Just a thought.
I remember when folks were going crazy with "Wii U is teh doomed!" posts when the power supply wattage was revealed.
Here is the bottom line: It is an extremely well crafted dedicated console with true next generation capabilities. It just happens to be "smarter" than most.
I was buying a new 15" Macbook Pro with Retina Display today and as I was optioning it out, I noticed the power supply - is 85 watts.
This is for a quad core, 2.7 ghz i7 CPU, an Nvidia Kepler GPU with 1 GB onboard memory, all the requisite ports for a desktop replacement class computer, over 700 GB of flash memory, and a freaking RETINA screen. Granted, the DVD drive no longer exists in apple laptops, but you get the point.
Now think of the Wii U which has far more internal space afforded to it , no 4x HD screen to drive, and has integrated the CPU and GPU as well as tons of fast memory into an MCM to be as efficient as possible.
The Wii U power supply and wattage draw from various usage scenarios is a non-issue.
Spur of the moment thought. If this is too redundant, feel free to delete. But a thought that came to mind after outfitting a killer, cutting edge, top of the line laptop - and seeing the power supply rated at 85w.
Hope you're all having a great day.
