Wii U Blog: Microsoft to launch the Xbox 720 in 2013?

We’re coming to the end of this generation of consoles. The Wii U is out next year and Microsoft and Sony won’t be too far behind. But, it seems like the Xbox 720 (aka, the successor to the 360) may be coming out sooner than expected.

Here’s what Eurogamer had to say:

Eurogamer has also heard a 2014 release of the next Xbox was planned by Microsoft, but this has now been brought forward to 2013 as a result of Nintendo’s confirmed 2012 launch of the Wii U.

Launching the console a year after Nintendo is a pretty big move that could encourage a lot of the “hardcore” market to wait rather than “risk” a purchase of the Wii U. It’s not confirmed yet, but it’ll be interesting to see if there’s an announcement at E3 2012.
