The WiiU and Orbis/Durango

I have said once or twice that I would like the WiiU to be my only system. I don't have much interest in the Orbis/Durango based on what I'v heard. I haven't watched the conference nor am I tech savy, so this will be based solely on third party support and the exclusive features they hold.

I never payed attention to what a "third party" game was and what it could mean to a system's "success" till very recently. I always viewed games as, well, games. I would see a commercial or see it in a store, or maybe not even heard of it till my dad bought me a game back when I was younger. The only team I really considered different was Square Enix because I loved the final fantasy games, so when I saw that a game was made by Square Enix, I would think that it might be a good game because they made it haha. Since I've been here, I've read that the Gamecube did not receive much third party support and wasn't as powerful as the PS2. What did I think back then? Nothing. I didn't know any of that. I just knew that I had two systems and that I had games on them that I liked to play. I guess it's easier when you're younger because you don't pay any attention to these things. At least I didn't. Well, now that I actually am, I've been doing a little thinking. Not much, but a little. Also, by a little, I mean I just thought of this about twenty minutes ago.

The WiiU is a must for me. I may have never tried one, but it has a lot of features that I really like: Miiverse, the eshop, Warawara Plaza, the game pad, and of course, the Nintendo games. My hope is for Nintendo to get at least most of the multiplatform games so that I won't have to spend money on a another system. I'm poor as it is. I know the WiiU is only three months old so I can't say that it won't get most of them, but let's say the third parties don't, and let's say there are a lot of them that I really want. What would my plans for this be?

Well, based on all the things I have read on here related to the Orbis and Durango, i would say my future plan would be to get an Orbis. Not too thrilled about Microsoft's plan to use codes on disks and have the games only downloadable. if i have the money and as long as Orbis sticks to hard copy games then I think it would be my choice as the "Third Party System". That's probably the only thing it will be used for unless I find a feature I really like on it. My views at the moment are that: if I can get it for WiiU, then I will get it for the WiiU. To be honest, and again, I'm not tech savvy so I don't really understand the specs, I don't see ports on the WiiU being all that downgraded. I'm not a huge graphics person, though I would hope that if it came out for one of these consoles, that it would at least look nice. I like good graphics, but rarely would bad graphics break a game for me. I really don't want to buy two systems, but I might if a lot of good games that I really want to play do not get ported to the WiiU as well.

Honestly, I can't really see that happening. It could though. I mean, I'm getting really bored of FPS, so it would take a good story to make me pay sixty dollars for it. I'm not really into beat 'em ups like Bayonetta and Metal Gear Solid rising. The Wonderful 101 only looks good because it looks like it will have a lot of comedy. Not really into fighting racing games, though some can be fun. Games like Watchdogs and Murdered: Soul Suspect would be up my alley. The ones that are more story based and not just the two genres mentioned earlier. RPGs like Final Fantasy and even the three games being made by Maestro would be more my taste. there are others and some exceptions to the other two i mentioned that I don't really like and types like it. There are other genres that I like, but most of the big games seem to be mainly FPS and such.

So when it comes down to it, I want my WiiU, when i get it, to be my main system, but if I notice that it is missing out on the third party games that I want to play, then i might get the Orbis ver the Durango as my "Third Party System.

Sorry about the long thread. I know this isn't really much of a discussion topic, but more just me stating my mind. I get into these moods, and I know all my "friends" on Facebook won't care.

Thoughts on my decision/opinions? What would be your choice of a second system?

I would love to be able to buy one system...but its nearly impossible. When I was younger I had one system at a time - NES - Genesis -blah blah - you get the picture. I didn't care about what was on the other systems. Now though with the advent of 3rd party being more of a player than back during the 8/16 bit days...even 32 bit days...things are different. Especially if Nintendo doesn't get all the 3rd party support the PS4 or 720 will get. Realistically I don't think it will, but it will get more than the last few generations. Now if you are looking for a 2nd system to be that "3rd" party machine..honestly the PS4 will be the only way to go. Sony not only has all the big 3rd party games on their platforms but they have a TON of first/second party exclusives. The 720 has Gears of War and Halo.....and.....mostly all 3rd party stuff. Unless they pull off some crazy miracle with the nextbox...I won't be giving them my money.

honeslty i think its nintendo's lack of advertising thats hurting them the most. if they had advertised the system more, i think the user base wouldv been a lot more than it is now and we wouldv seen some of the third party games that werent ported over.

Gotta wait n see what Microsoft shows b4 that descision can be made. So far I have a 360 and WiiU, ONE of those WILL go once both new consoles have been announced to be replaced with one of the new ones, but until both have been officially announced and thier games shown the choice cannot be made.
I hear voices in my head all the time, telling me what to do. But I just ignore them and carry on killing.

There are a lot of problems, but yes the marketing for the Wii U is atrocious...they obviously looked back at the Sega Saturn and said..hey that was a good marketing campaign..lets do that.. lol

It would be nice if there was just one universal master console.... but if that were the case then I wouldn't be able to spend hundreds of dollars on a Nintendo console Netflix Box.....Id have to use my real gaming console to watch Netflix... and that simply wouldnt do

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

I think I might get a '3rd party console' as well as my Wii U. If the game is on Wii U as well as other consoles, I will get it for the Wii U. I agree, Nintendo isn't going to have better third party support than other consoles.

I wanted to be a Wii U/3DS only gamer too, but after watching the PS4 conference last night I'm not convinced Wii U can hold on to it's 3rd party support anymore, especially with the way developers were worshiping the thing, even the president of Ubisoft might be considering Wii U all over again, also I don't think anyone was expecting the specs that were announced, they are awesome, the way things look at the moment it looks like Ima need a 3rd console for 3rd party games.
