#20110 YAY! 4Kids going bankrupt :D

Posted by Wertville on 09 August 2011 - 11:51 AM

Wooooot!
This is amazing news!
While I pity the Pokemon fans, they ruined pretty much every show they got. Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece, Sonic X... I'm glad they were stopped before they reached something like The World God Only Knows :(

#19803 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

Posted by Wertville on 08 August 2011 - 09:18 AM

All I wish for is that they don't overload the next Super Smash Bros. game with a bunch of 3rd party characters.
I mean really, this is a NINTENDO crossover game. Too many 3rd party characters would ruin the entire atmosphere, along with the reason why the game exists.
I know people are going to hate me on this, but here it goes.....

I wish 3rd party characters had never appeared on Super Smash Bros.

I, for the most part, disagree with this statement. Any character who has played a large role in Nintendo's HISTORY should be allowed in the game. While I question why Snake was included (Though it's getting us a 3DS game, so it waaaas worth it), Sonic was a natural inclusion. Sonic is Mario's almost official rival, the two are very iconic classic characters of the platforming genre. It only makes sense that they clash in the victor's fighting game.

Something similar goes for Megaman. The main consoles that Megaman games appear on are Nintendo Consoles. Spinoffs included. Megaman is deeply rooted in Nintendo's history, and Nintendo is deeply rooted in Megaman's. The SNES would have not been the same without Megaman X, and the Battle Network games would have never been without the GBA.

Don't forget that you could always play the games on your controller :)

#19218 Online passes for used games

Posted by Wertville on 05 August 2011 - 08:24 PM

I'm going to completely opposite most and APPLAUD Ubisoft for doing this. With the growing cost of video game development, the amount of money made has to be higher... Which means they need more sales. However, a large chunk of those sales (Much MUCH more than Piracy) get lost to used game sales, in which the devs make no money and therefore must accommodate this through other means...

Three methods so far:
1)The infamous DLC. ("What's that? You want to buy the game cheaper, simply because someone else has played it? WELL FINE, then we'll only INCLUDE half the game MUHAHAHHA")
2)The misinterpreted (But potentially valid) Save locking. ("Hmph, you want to buy a game used? Fine. We'll make SURE that it's used, though.")
3)The newest, Forcing Full Price. ("You want to buy the game $10 cheaper? Ok, but we're going to knock off $10 worth of content until you decide to go full."

Now, out of those 3, which is the most fair? The third one only really affects used gamers and gives much better support to the companies, while the other two hurt everyone and bring bad rep.

#18572 PSVita can be used as PS3 controller

Posted by Wertville on 04 August 2011 - 10:47 AM

What are you even talking about, there was no mention of multiplayer in the quote? The Gameboy Advance cannot be compared to the Vita in any way, one of the reasons it failed is the Gameboy advance is worser than the GameCube's own controller so who would exactly want to use it? The Vita is better than the PS3 controller in the fact that not only does it have the controls of the PS3 controller it has got a lot more as well.

Just don't know what you're getting at.

What he's getting at is that developers won't make use of the connectivity in a big way. As with the GBA and DS, the only time they will be used is with small features that barely make a difference, simply because requiring a Vita is too big a requirement; the relative failure of Four Swords: Adventures, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and FF:CC:Echoes of Time will make sure of that.

#18486 How much life do you think the DS has left?

Posted by Wertville on 04 August 2011 - 05:59 AM

I understand what you're saying, there's not things bad enough to make people not want to get it but there's not enough good things to encourage them either, correct?

The problem is, is that the DS is still getting support and until it dries up people won't want to upgrade. Especially with the amazing back catolog of games the DS has.

But that's the thing; Developers have no reason to STAY with the DS anymore, now that the prices are much more comparable. So while we will be getting games that were already in development, most projects will just be started on the superior successor to the console. Once one of the bigger franchises moves to the 3DS, we will see a huge migration of DS users. Pokemon will probably be the killer, but I see a few people changing over for Rune Factory and SMT:DS Overclocked...

#18186 Paid DLC to discourage Spotpass?

Posted by Wertville on 03 August 2011 - 06:55 AM

I beg to differ,  Ocarina of Time didn't use SpotPass, Streetpass or Play coins and still got 9/10.

It's a classic and a remake. Virtual Console games don't get downrated for not using pointer control, now do they? :(

But I can guarantee that if it DID have (quality) features that used SpotPass, Streetpass and Play coins, then it would have had a much higher chance of getting a 10/10. How awesome would it be if you could buy new Tunic textures for play coins?

#18167 Worth having a Wii U Go wiki?

Posted by Wertville on 03 August 2011 - 05:59 AM

I don't think reading Anime Subs count as Japanese skills, Wertville... lol derp.

I can think of a few pages you could have, like one for the major people (like Feld0 for being the boss and Ruthie for writing stuff), an article hub (I guess),  and the world's biggest Yoshi fandom page.

What if those subs are in Japanese? :(
(Seriously, though, I know around 600 Kanji atm; That's just over 1/4th of how many you need to know to be considered literate!
I'll most certainly be finished with Kanji and have moved onto sentences when the WiiU launches :D)

Honestly, I think the first three pages we need are a list of companies that show support (Pages for the big ones like Square-Enix), a list of confirmed details about the WiiU and a list of Rumored/Speculated/Stated by third party specs about the WiiU. After that we should add pages for all of the confirmed games, then a list of games that might come to the system.

As for a page on Feld0 and Ruthie... I think it would be better to stick all of them into a single page called 'WiiUForums', along with similar details about the community, because they're not too important to the WiiUniverse (SeewhatIdidthere?). As for Yoshi Fandom page... Not on the main Wiki, but perhaps we could have some sort of section/tag devoted to less serious things, like the 'Sugar Wiki' on TvTropes and the 'D for Dwarf' pages on Dwarf Fortress wiki.

We don't want someone who wants information on Arkham City accidentally stumbling on a page about Yoshi anatomy, now do we? :P

#16452 Website Slowdown?

Posted by Wertville on 22 July 2011 - 05:57 AM

I don't find it all too surprising that Feld0 is 16. I mean, I didn't find it surprising when I found out his age back when he was 15 :P
Age is only a number, after all. If you're 25 when you reach success, you didn't reach it because you turned 25, you reached it because it took you 25 years.

Feld0 hasn't quite reached success yet (I think he aims to make a profit, iirc), but he'll reach it before he turns 18. Not because he's so young, but rather because he decided to start early ^.^

...And this is totally off-topic. Not that there's much to say about the on-topic topic...

#16291 Kingdom Hearts 3 On PS3 And WiiU?

Posted by Wertville on 21 July 2011 - 07:52 AM

Keep in mind that kingdom hearts and kingdom hearts 2 were both exclusive only to the playstation 2

Final Fantasy I-VI were all exclusive to Nintendo once.
The english version of FFIII is STILL exclusive to DS iirc.

Doesn't mean Square Enix won't change their mind and swap systems. It's happened with most of their series.

#13166 Super Smash Bros. 4 - Character Wishlist

Posted by Wertville on 08 July 2011 - 12:31 PM

Phoenix Wright. Yes. I said it. IT MUST HAPPEN!
I'll even give him a moveset to show that it could actually work!

Normal attacks: Pokes, Punches and Kicks. He doesn't have a weapon.

Special Attacks:
B ) OBJECTION!
A counter attack that, shortly before and after use, doubles all damage taken by Wright, but during a few frames does double the damage back to the opponent. (Based on taking a penalty for being wrong)

SB) TAKE THAT!
Throws a piece of evidence, the effects varying. It can range from a flask of poison to his attorney's badge.

DB) HOLD IT!
An attack that hits in front and slightly behind. Does very little damage, but stuns the opponent depending on their damage. However, using it too much decreases its effectiveness. (Based on pestering opponents, and weakened opponents tending to let more slip)

UB) Not sure. Was thinking something based on his dumb luck.

FS) Psych Locks.
All opponents within a certain range get trapped in a psych lock. They remain trapped in them for either 30 seconds, or until they get hit with a piece of evidence. If they do get hit with a piece of evidence, they take 10 extra damage and go flying. Attorney Badges don't count as evidence.

...So, what do you think?
As for some of my other characters: Kanon, Battler, Tohno Shiki, Ryougi Shiki, Rin/Len Kagamine, ect....EDIT: :) smiley problems >.<

One thing I would ask is that you not lock them. Comments are nice, but a good forum discussion about a blog post is great :D

Slenderman. That's all you need to know.

...

What, you want more? Are you sure? I don't think you can han- Fine. I will tell you about him.

The stories of his origin differ from place to place, person to person. Some say he was labeled as a witch, stretched by slowly growing branches and then burned... Others say that he was a beast summoned in the area Ancient Germany, abducting the local children and killing men who wander into forests. And there are even some who go back even further, claiming him to be an alien, or a race of aliens, who arrived on the planet 3 thousand years ago, examining humans throughout their evolution, taking a form that seems high and professional in the era...

But outside of legend, what is there of Slenderman? Much. Slenderman... Has no face. No hair. Pale as a ghost. And this is not the first thing you notice.
He is.. Tall. Very tall. And very slender, obviously. He also wears a suit, a black one. The most creepy part of his appearance, though... His arms. He doesn't have arms... At least, they don't look like arms. They're tentacles. No hands, no elbows. Very long tentacles. And four of them, at that.

Why should you be scared of Slenderman? Because... Once you see him... You can never unsee him. He doesn't attack you, nor does he abduct you. He simply... Follows you. Everywhere. Also... You cannot remember these moments, when you met this man. You simply... Forget. At first, you will just remember seeing a strange person on teh side of the road. Then, you will have a foggy memory of the time you saw the same man a block away from your home... Then you find yourself driving away from your home at 2 AM, speeding 40 km/h faster than the limit. Then...

Nothing.

The only known way to combat Slenderman is to film him. If you can watch the film, you can 'Sort of' recover your memories. The easiest way is to film yourself 24/7, especially because he loves to watch you sleep... But there is only one thing recommended when you see the tall man with no face... Leave the country.

Now this is only a rough summary of Slenderman, but it should be enough for you to have a chance at survival if you ever meet him... The rest is to only hope you never do.

Now, if you'll excuse me, my tape is running out... Don't want to hesitate refilling that...

#9335 Will Wii U Change the "Hardcore" Opinion?

Posted by Wertville on 19 June 2011 - 06:46 PM

I don't think Nintendo ever actually did anything to earn a 'Kiddie' label...
That's just what Video Games were considered to be back in the 80s. Kids' Toys.

Nintendo just hasn't bothered to shed that image yet, whilst that's exactly what the PS and Xbox brands had been advertising since the start: Video Games for 'Older' people.

As for whether or not Nintendo will be able to recapture the 'Hardcore' market...
Well, rewatch Microsoft's E3 and tell me that 1/3 of the 'Hardcore' gaming population isn't looking for a new company :P
