#313679 Chibi-Robo Platformer and Amiibo Releasing in 2015

Posted by Hank Hill on 02 June 2015 - 12:58 PM

The game is coming to NA on October 2015, and the Amiibo will be exclusively sold with the game as part of a bundle. No word on pricing or any other sort of thing. I /think/ Europe is getting it too, but I'll have to look around for that.

#313631 Splatoon Is A Bad Unfinished Game

Posted by Hank Hill on 01 June 2015 - 02:47 PM

I think the problem a lot of people are having here is that the game isn't finished in terms of content, even if said content is being added later on. If literally any other company besides Nintendo released a game light on content but said the rest of it is 'coming soon over the next few months' and released it at the full $60 anyway, the gaming community (and I'm sure this includes a few people here, too) would be in an uproar. And really, making a game where most of the focus is on the multiplayer anyway only have one game mode and five maps at launch is...kinda sad, regardless of the originality of the game itself. I'm pretty sure even the first Call of Duty to support online had more content than that at launch.

It's like if they released Smash Bros with half the characters of the previous title, one game mode, and a third of the stages, but still charged $60 and said "Eeeeh, we'll get the rest out eventually we just want our money." There's no excuse when other companies are releasing full online experiences with their games from the start, and then adding to /that/ at a later date.

I know I'm certainly not buying it until they add more content and I can get a few other games off of my Nintendo backlog first. (Though that last part is really no fault of Nintendo's, I'm just a lazy bum with a large Playstation backlog too >_>) But that is to say, I'm sure it's a great game. It seems wildly original and a lot of fun, it's just not worth my $48+tax at this point.

Like other people in this thread have said, it's just a good, currently-unfinished game with a lot of polish.

#312877 What's in store for the 3DS?

Posted by Hank Hill on 11 May 2015 - 04:06 PM

I don't have to take that kind of disrespect from you MOD. It's what happens when Nintendo is backwards. NDS was so great for being region free and had twice the amount of games. Excuse me for not being some blind fanboy wanting every Mario and Zelda. Some people play other things.

No disrespect intended. I was just stating that when I see a post or status update of yours, it's almost always something negative without fail, regardless of the game/creator/series/company/etc. It gets very old.

I play plenty of other things besides Mario and Zelda which is why I have a 3DS. Most of the games I own for it aren't Mario or Zelda. Lots of Layton, Rhythm Thief, Resident Evil, third party titles, third and first party DS titles I've yet to try out or play, etc. This seems more like you're mad that you can't play imported games rather than there's nothing to play, and I agree that it's crappy that it isn't region free. People should have a choice to import or not. Really, most DS/3DS titles that I even want to play at the moment don't need to be imported at all, they've already been released stateside...it's just a matter of getting the money to buy 'em.

#312866 What's in store for the 3DS?

3DS has almost nothing for me so far. I can't stand 3DS as it is. Thanks to region locking.

This happens when you regularly drink a gallon of salt and haterade with every meal.

As for what's in store, I really have no idea outside of Fire Emblem If...we'll probably see more announcements whenever E3 rolls around. I'd imagine we'll hear of more Wii/GameCube to New3DS ports so they can have something besides Xenoblade 3D, Amiibo support and Binding of Issac.

Personally, I'd like to see patches roll out for certain games that allow the software to take advantage of the New3DS's added power. For example: DKCR3D and the two Pokemon titles could do with an extra bit of horsepower just to stabilize the framerate a bit.

#312865 Nintendo President Can’t Promise When Amiibo Shortages Will Stop

Off the record, the president was rumored to have said "We might not even try with this whole amiibo restock thing, I dunno"

#311988 Unity support coming to New 3DS

Posted by Hank Hill on 13 April 2015 - 10:47 AM

Well, this is pretty awesome. I was just thinking not too long ago how much of a bummer it was that I couldn't make 3DS games if I learned the Unity engine, but this is fantastic news. ^^

#311781 Splatoon Voice Chat... the reason we wont get it

Posted by Hank Hill on 09 April 2015 - 09:53 PM

I don't think it's BS. One of the main reasons I don't like online multiplayer is specifically because of voice chat. 99% of the time, it's not used for anything other than a podium for 9 year olds and immature 30-something neckbeards to scream how much they're going to do your mom, or blasting random, garbled music as if it was being played through a potato.

#311753 Amiibos

Posted by Hank Hill on 09 April 2015 - 10:01 AM

My favorite uses for Amiibo so far are through Splatoon, Smash, and Code Name STEAM.

With Splatoon's brand of Amiibos, you get whole new missions to mess around in.

With Smash, you get way more powerful AI to battle against.

In Code Name STEAM, you get whole new party members through the Fire Emblem series...even though I only own Ike at the moment, it's still cool.

But like Sorceror said, the main problem comes in NoA's incompetence when it comes to stocking the things. Especially with the Fire Emblem ones...what's the point of having special characters in Code Name STEAM if you can't even buy the things?
