#317662 New Year resolutions?

Posted by NintendoReport on 18 January 2016 - 07:40 AM

Yes, it's that time of the year again. New Year New Me, right? Wether you think this is a dumb holiday, what are some thing you would like to change/start doing for the better? I'm sure everyone has something to share.

As for me, I've been trying to get a better control of my time, not die, not kil anyone and remember to correctly flush my broken toilet.

My goals.. aka resolutions are more time with family, less stress, and more video games. Seriously. Running a business takes a lot out of me both time and energy so I am trying to find a better balance.

#317649 Nintendo Business Plans 2016

Posted by NintendoReport on 17 January 2016 - 07:38 AM

http://wiiudaily.com...plans-for-2016/

In the newspaper Mainichi Shimbun, Kimishima elaborated on his business plans for the company moving into 2016 and it’s bigger than what any of us expected. According to the article, Kimishima says he wants to surprise fans with new ideas instead of building on old ones. Details about the Nintendo NX will be revealed in 2016, but perhaps most interesting is Kimishima’s other plans.

Last year we learned that Nintendo and Universal Studios have partnered to build a theme park featuring Nintendo’s iconic cast of characters. In Kimishima’s statement, he says that the expansion and licensing for these endeavors is going well, but that he’s also looking into movies and TV anime for character licensing.

While this is traditionally a move away from the core gaming experiences that Nintendo is known for, Kimishima says that his company must experiment with new business models in order to be successful. He hopes to bring profits for the company to 100 billion yen, which is around $855 million. No time frame was given for that goal, but the amount of money is four times the profit from Nintendo’s financials last year.

Finally, Kimishima mentions Nintendo’s smartphone efforts and says they’re rolling along well, with the first app featuring Nintendo’s famous characters to be rolled out in March

#317639 Mario Maker is 22 years old!

Patents sometimes come and go. That’s exactly what happened with an idea Nintendo reserved over two decades ago, which is rather reminiscent of Super Mario Maker.

In 1994, Nintendo registered a U.S. patent for a “Video game/videographics program editing apparatus with program halt and data transfer features”. This would let users pause the gameplay and edit parts through a streamlined UI. Players would not need any knowledge of programming – just like Super Mario Maker.

In the patent description, there are various tidbits about the standalone hardware’s potential functions. These include changing the amount of items and behavior of enemies, rearranging level designs, resuming gameplay after editing, and saving the revised game. One portion of the patent mentions exchanging user-generated content via a telephone line as well. If given the right tools, players could even come up with their own gaming experience with the hardware.

It’s definitely an interesting concept, but one that never made it to market. You can see the original patent in full here.

#317632 Social Nintendo News

Posted by NintendoReport on 14 January 2016 - 08:28 AM

Those of you who know, i started up http://www.NintendoChitChat.com last August and with that I've created a twitter, facebook and youtube account to help grow interest. Aside from social posts I've ran ads and the site also has a chat room.

Aside from this project, I launched http://nintendoreport.com/ . I was not planning on it but I came across some nice web tools. It's nothing extraordinary and the site has only been up 1 day. The basic idea is this is a site you can come to for nintendo based news, social stuff all in one place. Rather then having to check out a twitter feed, or facebook page, youtube channel.. the tools used bring all of those into one place. The content refreshes every 20 minutes as long as there is new content.

The main home page is all nintendo official feeds: facebook, twitter, tumblr, youtube, and nintendo's own news feed directly from their website.

Nintendo Franchise News is Super Mario, Super Smash, Splatoon, Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda offical facebook accounts all in one listing.

Other Nintendo News is from sources like gamexplain, nintendo enthusist, wii u daily etc.

ChitChat Feed is a forum feed from NintendoChitChat.com .

Things will be tweaked, updated, and possibly changed around. The sources of the information may be updated to if we find better rss feeds or accounts that provide more useful info.

Anyways, thought I would introduce you this little project and maybe it will be useful to you to browse nintendo news and social stuff. Every post/news story is linked to the original site. So if you click on a story that interests you, you can easily read more about it.

Hank's trophy collection is too stronk.

Eddy may be a magician, but he's also a wizard at social networking.

Yoshi is good at existing.  Yoshi has a TON of hours put into Monster Hunter.

Segata over here is pretty mean has a pretty mean collection of consoles. Also keep being good at living, we can't have you missing Shenmue III, now.

Baltoist is excellent at greeting people.

Horchata is like, 4 times the artist I'll ever be.

I know Waller's done art, and I'd totally enjoy an art critique/roasting if I ever get back into drawing.

Gruff likes Animal Crossing. Good on you!

Mitch was a pretty funny guy. He should stop being dead sometimes. Maybe even make another cooking video.

Zinix was pretty chill, and didn't have a stick up his bum.

Auzzie Wingman, though. Really cool guy. Before he gave up on us, he was the voice of the forum. Or at least, he was just saying what everyone was thinking.

I swear I was subscribed to Pyroblock. Upon closer inspection, it seems that you've taken a bit of a hiatus.

Tom is the worst guy. He's had 3 years to grow up and I've yet to see any substantial progress.
