Posted by Lain on 30 January 2013 - 08:38 PM

I'm pretty much different online than irl in which in real life i'm more outgoing than online where i'm funny and shy.

I don't really consider you shy online :I I'd actually say you're more outgoing than me online.

#160655 Why Fanal Fantasy is dying

Posted by Lain on 18 January 2013 - 09:47 PM

Yeah... As far as I'm concerned, the series ain't dying. Especially since people keep babbling on about how FF X is better than FF Y and so forth. A decline in quality doesn't mean death, and quite frankly FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFXII, and FFXIII aren't that bad froma general point of view.

#160050 If the Vita does not have a system seller by October, it WILL die.

Posted by Lain on 16 January 2013 - 05:47 PM

"Die" is a strong word here I think, but maybe I'm just really hopeful for some sort of turnaround. I'll agree with others that the Vita doesn't have much to offer compared to the 3DS. Sure, personaly tastes come to mind, but I think the 3DS has had more bigger titles, especially in recent times and it's expected that more will come considering its success in Japan.

#159491 Vague, Cryptic and Off-topic Topic Titles

Lure titles huh?

Yeah, they're annoying, though only if they end up being a waste of time. Misleading titles are also bad too, but they tend to be more a product of the OP not knowing about the subject being posted.

#159331 Albums to Listen To 2012

#150785 Albums to Listen To 2012

Posted by Lain on 22 December 2012 - 12:56 PM

Rather than do some Album of the Year thread, and have everyone post and vote and stuff, I decided to just make a suggestion thread where people can post what albums they think people should listen to. Just make sure they're 2012 releases though mmkay? So to provide an idea of what I expect, I'll start by example:

I made a thread about this album some time ago, so you can search it up if you want to read my initial response to the album. This is a solid R&B release, and is nice to listen on trips in the car or if you want to just chill out. My fave track is the one highlighted in the playlist

If you've never listened to Passion Pit, this can work as a great start I think. They're an electric pop group of sorts, and you've probably heard a song or two from them on television without noticing. I know Taco Bell used "Take a Walk" in their Dorritos Locos Tacos commercial. Anyway, I digress. This is a pretty happy-sounding kinda album but don't let the tone fool you - Some songs are a bit sad. Mirrored Sea was my favorite track, but there are plenty of other great tracks

This'll be difficult for me to describe by sound for me. If you've ever listened to Regina Spektor, this is a lot like that. Essentially we've got female vocals to some jazz and blues music. "Every Single Night" is a great introduction, but I personally love "Left Alone" the most.

#147907 Atheism.

Posted by Lain on 14 December 2012 - 01:33 AM

I found out that I was an atheist quite young, I never prayed or went to church. I just never felt a thing such as "God" could exist, it just didn't seem possible to me. Evolution makes much more sense and seems logical, in my opinion of course. None of my family members know, I keep it to myself in order to not make myself seem like an "outcast".

You found out you were atheist? Okay...

Being atheist, simply, means you possess no belief in the notion of God. Logic tends to be the justification behind atheistic beliefs (or at least it the initial justification), but can only be true if God is bounded by logic, so to speak. I suppose our beliefs are highly dependent on our own definitions of what God is.

In any case, I am not atheist. Quite frankly, I'm generally apathetic to discussions about my belief in God because they often tend to be nothing more than interesting waste of times.

Bleach 520 - Didn't know what to expect after last chapter. All I can say is wow.

Bleach 523 - The last few pages really made this chapter actually. Mangastream's translation seems to suggest some weird sexual tension between the two Kenpachis, but what really sent chills was Unohana's appearance

One Piece 695 - I liked this chapter overall, but I was disappointed in the lack of Doflamingo. Still Usopp displayed some nice skills in this chapter, especially using seastone handcuffs (which I recall he collected in an earlier chapter). I imagine the mystery character at the end is actually Aokiji riding on an ice pheasant. A Law/Aokiji/Strawhat/Smoker team-up would be amazing against Doflamingo.

#131194 Fave Movies Of This Year In Order, And Your Most Anticipated Of 2013

Posted by Lain on 17 November 2012 - 02:09 AM

I don't have any specific order of favorites, but I do have a small list:
  • The Amazing Spider-Man
  • The Cabin in the Woods
  • Cloud Atlas
  • The Avengers
  • Looper
  • Argo
  • Seven Psychopaths
  • Moonrise Kingdom
  • The Dark Knight Rises
I also want to see The Man of Steel next year. Iron Man 3 as well. Pretty much any comic book movie that looks decent.

Lately, I've been listening to this genre more frequently; even more than my hip-hop, jazz, electronic, and K-pop music. And I kinda just wanted to make a go to thread for this sort of music here. For anyone curious as to what type of music this is (or how one defines the genre), I took a definition and put it on the image above. Of course, sometimes verbal definitions aren't enough to describe something so I do have a few samples available below to listen to that might help provide the general feel.

Cocteau Twins - "Lorelei"

Wanderhouse - "Use Me Up"

Hopefully you like it 'cause I do and am interested in discovering more artists under the genre. And if you're already a fan, feel free to discuss it here and maybe even dispute the choices of samples I put above! - Shoegaze is a pretty similar genre here and some people are kinda particular about the boundaries between this an that.

People are suggesting Rin's death and Kakashi's broken promise catalyzed Obito's decsension.

Could be possible. I just want to know his connection to Madara

#102541 RUMOUR: Nintendo looking to buy back Rare + franchises, Retro making Banjo Wii U

Posted by Lain on 27 August 2012 - 02:28 PM

Aside from fantastic IPs, extra manpower, and the ability to practically print money with the rights to use Rare's various IPs, I suppose you would be right.

Not quite.

Buying back Rare does not mean anything at all here. You suggest that Nintendo is some magical company that will ensure any game developed with Rare will be a great game that'll sell plenty and everyone will be happy.

I don't buy that. If so, explain Star Fox Adventures. Ever since a number of Rare's key members left to form Free Radical, Rare hasn't been in top shape. Plus, Microsoft isn't the cause for Rare's lack of quality as you also suggest - It's Rare that needs to fix themselves. To give you a better idea of what I'm refering to here, Nintendo often collaborated and compromised with Rare on their games (as they do with other studios). Microsoft often has Rare do the work themselves.

In any case, Nintendo does have plenty of IPs to work with besides the ones Rare have made. They're also more than capable of making their own new IPs.

Even so, Rayman was considered a dead series not too long ago. No, Rabbids do not count.

Rayman 2 has been ported to the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS, the PS2, and iOS.

Rayman remained relevant through a single game
