Sorry, but if you're going top be constantly linking to IGN would you mind quoting a summary of the article? Otherwise it seems suspiciously like linkbait.
The summary of the article is "Wii U will only sell 25 million units in its lifetime" whenever that quote is going off of currently old data without taking anything that would happen in the future into consideration that'd boost system sales such as price cuts, the release of Mario Kart 8, or the release of Super Smash Bros 4.

Yeah. This guy is about 9 months behind me. He gets paid?
I point out the obvious I get belittled here. He points out the obvious he gets paid $250 grand a year. 8)
See, you claim you point out the "obvious" while completely ignoring the obvious.
The data both you and this "analyst" are completely ignoring are a lot of factors that will come into play in the future. Factors in the form of price cuts, being cheaper than the competition, currently being the only next-gen system to actually have any form of backwards compatibility with its predecessor's games and controllers, and system-selling games such as Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros.
By this analyst's logic, the 3DS should only have sold 30 or 40 million units in its lifetime based on the first year. And guess what happened? The 3DS is currently on its way to getting close to 40 million systems sold in its second (third?) year. Gee, wonder what changed...oh, yeah. Nintendo released Mario Kart 7, Mario 3D Land, a ton of other games after the fact, and cut the system price.
By this analyst's' logic, the PS3 should've sold in the 25-30 million range based on its first year. But look at that magic! The system got a price cut and games worth buying, and it started selling. ![]()
Am I saying the Wii U will sell anywhere near Wii numbers? No. Will it only sell 25 million units? Heck no. The Wii U more appeals to the casual market more than the PS4 or Xbone ever would, as it has more value per dollar. $300 gets you the system with NSMBU and NSLU, and the system is also backwards compatible with the entire Wii library and controllers. Not to mention this bundle that was offered by Nintendo UK that nets you the system with NSMBU/NSLU/Mario 3D World/Mario Wiimote/Mario Hat for £299.99. For $400 you can get a PS4 with no games, that isn't backwards compatible with any PS3 games or controllers, or $500 for an Xbone that isn't backwards compatible with any Xbox 360 games or controllers.
