#146973 Wii U is in a precarious position

Posted by jalio_the_brave on 12 December 2012 - 07:33 AM

I haven't quite got the chance to play the Wii U yet, considering I won't have it in my hands till Christmas. But from what I've seen, it's a console that has a lot of potential and has done a lot of things really well in the past few weeks.

My only concern is that Nintendo have put themselves in a sticky situation. They're having to come into a new generation without the other competing consoles. And while this may seem like an advantage at first, I get the feeling that Nintendo has a lot to prove to gamers and publishers alike if they want their support. So far, Nintendo seems to be trying really hard to get the third parties back, but I'm afraid that their efforts will be for naught, as I get the feeling most publishers will just brush off Nintendo, saying their console isn't powerful enough or caters to the wrong audience.

Not only that, but Nintendo has to be sure in what they've produced for a console so as to compete with the next generation Sony and Microsoft consoles. Many rumored leaks say that Sony and Microsoft's consoles won't be complete powerhouses like the 360 and PS3 were when they launched, which is a good sign. But even so, there's a potential that the third party companies will move on to those systems and leave Nintendo with their first party titles alone.

I think Nintendo has put themselves in a situation that will be hard on the company. I believe with the right marketing and planning Nintendo can be successful once again this generation. They just have a lot going against them. I just want Nintendo to do well as much as the next guy, but they've certainly made it difficult to do so. Alas, that comes with uncharted territory when innovating in the industry, eh? ;)

Looks fun and intense. Good seeing a new level instead of the same old same old.

#90738 Namco Bandai is on the Smash Bros team, which characters would you like to join?

In terms of Nintendo, I think we also need Shulk from Xenoblade.. just my personal input.

#86684 Wii U Will Feature Friend Codes

Posted by jalio_the_brave on 11 June 2012 - 11:50 AM

I don't think he means the friend codes we know. Just looking at the miiverse pictures, I see usernames, which means that's most likely what we'll see

#86595 What I'm most looking forward to for Wii U

Posted by jalio_the_brave on 11 June 2012 - 07:40 AM

I think what I'm most looking forward to is being able to play my future Mario and Zelda games without jaggies and having a crisp clear picture. What do you guys think?

#85996 Nintendand will be good for Nintendo and core gamers in the future

Posted by jalio_the_brave on 09 June 2012 - 05:14 AM

The reason why I say this is because it introduces the titles that Nintendo has been known for in the past. This means it will get casuals interested in these core titles, increasing sales of future iterations. In addition, it'a an indication I think of what's coming on the wii u in the future (f zero, dk, Zelda, etc). What do you guys think?

#78425 Nintendo aiming to get the "hardcore" gamers back. Would it even matter?

Posted by jalio_the_brave on 15 May 2012 - 05:39 AM

I think the key is that Nintendo needs to make sure that they have top notch exclusives as well as lots of third party support. Most gamers want to have 1 system to play all of their favorite games, not 2 or 3. Nintendo needs to make sure that gamers can have that.
