#289660 New Zelda VS Zelda CD-I
Posted by Lupaie

To do so, I have to travel back in Time, back to 1993. I was 14 years old and played the hell out of the original 8-bit Legend of Zelda and just started with the Snes version. They both were beautifull games and I loved them to death. But suddenly there was Philips and their CDi. Compared to the Snes and Megadrive the games looked like actual cartoons. I could not effort to buy such a system (looking back, gladly so), neither did I have access to the internet and so I had to do it with instore demo-pods.
None of the stores actually showcased the Zelda games but as a reference I had to do with some of the other games which looked awesome. Little did I know that most had terrible gameplay. Yet by the looks of the Zelda boxes I envisioned an adventure in a cartoonesque world where interactive film would deliver the ultimate Zelda experience. As history turns out, the cd-i games were really bad yet they awakened my wish for a believable Zelda game with an artstyle that would inspire my senses and made me believe I was part of its world.
Just as back then, the New Zelda could have opted for a realistic approach, yet it wouldn't stand out from most other adventure games if it did (fable, dragonage, elderscrolls), but worse, it would not toy with your senses and inspire you.
Yesterday, when I saw Hyrule field, I directy started to image what could be after those hills, and what creatures would live there, looking at the film really captured me into its own world, just surrealistic enough to stand out, but the colors, style and advanced animation finally delivered what that CDi project promissed my mind back in 1993.

#286642 McDonalds attempts to replace mascot with ugly happy meal creature.

To all US citizens here:
We here in the Netherlands (and most of europe I think) have had this ugly piece of horse scat mascotte for a few years now. I think 5. It's nothing new, and tbh I thought this was a worldwide mascot.
I don't think Ronald McDonald lives up to today's standards of a good mascot, he looks a bit dated. But still way better than this little guy.
Wait till you see him on tv. Here, he has the most annoying voice over ever (the same voice as the Dora monkey). You will hate this fella even more in the future. So yes, this is 100% real and lame.
I already posted some videolinks to him...including his voice. Maybe we can get a new one in The Netherlands now too while US gets this piece of art

Dutch doesnt have an 'E' in it.
I said Duetsch, the missing 's' was a typo.
I didnt mean German, because I have never heard a single fellow in the entire Republik refer to Duetsch as 'German' In the 4 years I lived there...
Although... Admittedly, that could have been because I spent most of my free time (outside of buying European only GBA games from Müller's, huzzah pre region locked portables) in Mick's Irish pub the fiddlers green.... Or climbing up to the Kreuzberg monastary with an emptied jug from an office water buffalo strapped to my back (God bless those monks). Which is probably why I barely learned any Duetsch during the course of my time there....
Haha, I understand, great that you've spend so much time there, a shame you didn't use the opertunity to learn the language, you are right though, when in Germany, the Germans use the word "Deutsch" when they refer to their language, just as how the Germans call themselves "Deutscher" when speaking of inhabitants of Germany(Deutschland). Internationally the language is refered to as German, though.
Wow, what an extra bit of information when speaking of Mario Kart. I guessed they should have included a track called Nabbits Autobahn..

Oh no, you didn't! In Germany they speak German. The Germans themselves, when talking in the German language use the term "Deutsch".Without me having to excersize my god awful attempt at reading duetch....
In the neighboring country, know as, The Netherlands, also known as "Holland", the people speak Dutch. As in the Flying Dutchman. That ship was Dutch, from the Netherlands, not Germany.
Anyway, it's quitte complicated so I forgive you

Sony and MS drop out of the Console market. Nintendo staying as the one and only....then denying EA and Activision licenses to publish games on Nintendo hardware... Ah, one can dream

AC IV was a solid effort and a fantastic game, but still most Wii U owners didn't buy it. I'll be surprised if we see many ubisoft titles in the future, which is a shame as they're one of the better third party devs out there.
Agreed, bought it for Wiiu and absolutely loved it. I was wondering how many people bought it from these forums

I had trouble with WiiFit U. In that game everybody can create a Gym Community and ask friends to join that community. The community is tagged with a Community number. It's in exactly the same format as the friends numbers. So, when communicating your gym on Miiverse, you get banned.
My question is:
If the reason for Nintendo's strict ruling is the protection of children, and keeping Miiverse a safe place....why do they promote kids (and all other users) to communicate their friends and community codes via extern media. Forums are much darker places on the internet. I'd rather see my kids using miiverse (including code-communication) then my kids traveling to a place like WiiUforums with its diverse user group.

I've been looking forward to this ads eShop Title. It's a manager game with a Nintendo Charm over it. You can battle offline and online and can transfer players with other gamer friends. Look at those graphics!! (nah, don't, I just like the overall look and feel, but that's personal). This title has been into development for 5 years so I hope there's a lot of depth in it.

#276669 The death of 'current' console gaming?

Also, due to their artistic style in most games, wiiu games might age better than ps4 and xbo games. Once the hype is gone and pc's outlap those flagship consoles, wiiu style gaming might still be going steady. Also, with smaller teams and less development time I think most Nintendo games are safe bets. (Although I worry about 3dworld and dk).
Also, as life grows busy more and more, I enjoy the quick eShop games more and more. Maybe Nintendo could do something with that too.
Also, rumors say Nintendo has been hiring new talent as crazy. Yet Sony is firing people and canceling games....
