#262096 Nintendo Direct 12/18 for Spring 2014 Wii U , 3DS

Posted by KeptMyWiiUAndLeftTheForums on 18 December 2013 - 07:23 AM

I'm on the opposite side. Rosalina is a welcomed addition to the roster and I could already tell that she was going to be in the game after her appearance in 3D World. Oh, and no offense, but Toad sounds silly to add when he's already being used by Peach. And Bowser Jr. would just sound like a clone.

And she looks awesome so I have no objections.

Looks like I might be playing THREE princesses in SSB4 :D

#262253 Gamespot DKTF Preview.... Nintendo take notice!

I agree that Nintendo should make some new ips, and im sure they will this gen. I'm just so sick of people criticising DK just because they wanted Retro to make another Metroid, its getting very old now. People need to stop being babies and realise that the Wii U has only been out for a year so we have plenty of time for new ips.

Anyway, DKC games are 1000x better than any other 2D platformers out there right now.

DKC is not 1000x better than Rayman Origins or Legends.

Donkey Kong Country Returns was by far the best 2D platformer of gen 7.

Plus the original Rayman games don't even come close to the original DKC games. It's only the more recent titles that have been amazing imo.

There's no such thing as "just another" Donkey Kong. It's the next Donkey Kong and it's quality and success are important. The game, overall, has a lot to live up to. Nintendo put one of their best developers on it. There is nothing wrong with that.

This game series has fans that have high expectations. I, for one, am glad that Nintendo is taking DKC:TF seriously. People saying Retro was wasted on this game is blatantly disrespectful to the DK series and it's fans. It is also a blatantly selfish statement.

Does Nintendo need more modern gaming franchises? Perhaps, but not at the expense of their most successful and cherished franchises.

This is the big one.

Nothing wrong with talking about DK in this setting.
Don't know why you're all making it into a rainbowty meme that everything DK is rainbow, it's got a place with people who care about DK.

#261842 Nintendo Direct 12/18 for Spring 2014 Wii U , 3DS

Posted by Envy on 17 December 2013 - 06:57 AM

While I'm happy to see the mention of "Wii U", considering the last two Nintendo Directs were all about the 3DS, I'm still not getting hyped.

While we may all want to get excited thinking about Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, and possibly further, we have to remember that this is only for up to Spring 2014 titles. Mario Kart 8 may be shown (assuming it is still a Spring 2014 title), but probably not so much SSB4.

I'm expecting a mostly 3DS focused ND, with Donkey Kong tacked on. Probably advertising Cranky Kong yet again.

But if Nintendo wants to create hype, they have to do more than they said they will in the Direct.

And that applies to right now... how exactly?

#261714 Maybe we have not seen NEXT-GEN Nintendo yet?

This is the one year where I didn't buy any bad games.

I generally try not to buy bad games.

#261686 Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS not launching this spring

Well, obviously. We'll be lucky if we even get it before holiday 2014.

#260831 Operation Save Nintendo

Posted by Hank Hill on 12 December 2013 - 06:21 PM

So your big solution is to

  • Confuse the crap out of/screw over consumers by canceling a handheld that's very successful, and a home console product that's only been out for a year
  • Have Nintendo bleed money in producing this monstrosity (FYI, 3DS/DS games will look like crap on a HDTV)
  • Completely redo Bayonetta 2, thus costing them more money on a game that probably wouldn't even sell more on the PS4/Xbone, release a new IP that people won't buy (Wonderful 101), and continue a series that was pronounced over by its developer?
  • Have Nintendo bleed money by giving away $200+ per Wii U and game
  • Rush a new Legend of Zelda out just a few months after Zelda U will most likely come out.
  • I think we have a winner! You get a gold star.

FYI: Sega did this kind of crap with the Sega Genesis/Saturn/Dreamcast. You know where that got them? BANKRUPT.

Your posts are getting worse imo.
We get it, you prefer Microsoft. That's okay.
Just please don't try to "fix" Nintendo with conglomerate failure techniques.

#260730 this made me laugh (Bayonetta 2)

    Envy, on 12 Dec 2013 - 11:29 AM, said:

Um... No, it's not like that at all.

The original Bayonetta was exclusive to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This is a slap in the face to the original Bayonetta fans. They have reason to be unhappy about this.

Now tell me who's the "fanboy" here? The Bayonetta fan that owned the original and loved it on the consoles it was originally released on (that is the PS3/Xbox 360) that is upset that it ended up exclusively on a random console that is completely unrelated to the ones before, or the Nintendo fan that just wants an exclusive to flaunt in the face of others, but still complains about third party games being on the Xbox One and or PS4 and not the Wii U?

    You make no sense...

You basically just argued that exclusives and third party games hold the same sort of weight. The original Bayonetta was a MULTIPLATFORM game on both PS4 and 360. Nintendo stepped in and basically funded this project because it wasn't profitable enough to continue on it's own, so it's now Nintendo's (The IP isn't, but they have control of how the money behind the project). It's their project, they deserve the sales they get from it. The fanboy is the one who is pissed that they feel like they got screwed over because a game actually will see the light of day, but not on their console of choice. IP's can be on different consoles, it's all about where the money for the project comes from. In this case, it's Nintendo's money.

Every Nintendo fan has a right to be upset about third party games not coming to their system. They are third party games, not exclusives. Granted, nintendo fans should at least understand the business decisions about why they aren't getting third party, but it is a legitimate frustration. I suppose there is understandable frustration in a game moving to a different platform, but hey, I miss Rare, but I got over it.

    MK8 yes, Smash Bros., no.

It's hilarious how anybody could even believe Smash Bros 4 would be ready already. It's only been about a year since it's entered development.
