#137808 What Nintendo has to say about Wii U specs.....

Posted by GAMER1984 on 25 November 2012 - 04:18 AM

ok so we have a lot of discussion about the Wii U specs. We have quoted anonymous devs, journalist, and random NEOGAF memeber. but what has nintendo said on the subject? in My opinion nintendo has never lied about what their console can do or whats inside of it. They can care less about boasting specs and more about creating great games/experiences with those specs. so here are some of nintendo's quotes on Wii U specs.

Miyamoto:  “If the conversation is only really about whether the power is going to match up to another generation of hardware from, say, Sony or Microsoft, I can’t answer that question yet. [Wii U] might not be as powerful as those systems when they eventually do come around. But I think that the more important question is… It’s not just about power alone, but how to balance what you’re offering in terms of power with cost.”

Iwata: "I’m not against beautiful graphics, but my thinking is that unless the play experience is really rich the wonderful graphics won’t really help".

"I think it will become increasingly difficult from now on to compete over graphics. This is because that no matter how much we increase the number of polygons we can display and improve the shading it will become increasingly difficult to tell the difference".

"I think that the Wii U will be powerful enough to run very high spec games but the architecture is obviously different than other consoles so there is a need to do some tuning if you really want to max out the performance".
(MOST IMPORTANT QUOTE HERE GUYS!)

"We’re not going to deliver a system that has so much horsepower that no matter what you put on there it will run beautifully, and also, because we’re selling the system with the GamePad – which adds extra cost to the package – we don’t want to inflate the cost of each unit by putting in excessive CPU power."

Reggie: “We’ve got a system that, based on our review of the world and our architecture, it absolutely’s gonna hold up and bring the best content from third-party for a long, long time”

In my opinion these quotes should tell you all you need to know about the Wii U. It's different "ARCHITECTURE" but modern. just like the others will be... but not like PS360 so dont expect ports of those console to run great on Wii U. i believe Wii U at minimum will run next gen engines and games built from the ground up are gonna be amazing. but you cant expect this overnight. give it time guys have patience. and also sorry for adding another Wii U power thread to the mix of the other 100 in the past week :)

Indeed, and for our sake I hope we get these answers soon.

yeah well nintendo has a lot to prove... they have been losing core players in droves the last two generations.

I can't quite place my finger on it I just know it's gonna be good or bad, I'm hoping good lol, I get these feelings quite a lot. Oh and yeah I know what you mean, I know it's never about the specs with Nintendo, but for the sake of the Hardcore market and th Wii U itself they need to speak up soon. It won't affect my desicion however but people deserve to know what it is exactly they paid for.

yeah i already got one and im loving it... lots of potential. but i am looking forward to seeing how this plays out. i know nintendo will make amazing looking games for the system. but will they be looked over by 3rd parties when the other systems comes out? will anyone give a damn about making solid mature games for Wii U when ps4 and nextbox arrives? how will the 3rd party multiplat games work out on Wii U when being ported up or down from ps4 and nextbox? lots of questions still need to be answered

I don't know why, but I have a funny feeling that the next 2 weeks are going to be a little bit awkward, somethings going to happen I just know it, either way I hope it's something good not bad, I'm really exited for the Wii U.

what do you mean... from nintendo? a reveal trailer?

That is a fair opinion and I respect it, thankyou for bieng polite :)

well we are family (gamers unite) so i respect the post. i just feel like nintendo shouldn't sit by while there are developers dissing and putting down their console.

Ahh i been saying this stuff for a while now.
The better devs get at coding for the wii u , the better the games will come out.
And they said they base the chip off of the wii because it makes it easier to run wii games with the emu.
But this time next yr there will be some great games  out. Once the.devs have had the time to learn the ins and outs of the wii u.

And fiy zombiu looks great ands plays great. Was build from the ground up n not ported over.

Zombi U wasnt built from the ground up. it was originally built for PS360 game. so yeah maybe IF there is a zombi U sequel it will be running on a new engine built for Wii U or next gen consoles.

Well there are two problems with this article. 1. It's from a site that is KNOWN for giving outrageous and false information that can be proven false. 2 its from a writer no one knows... who is this guy and why should we take his word for it?. i want to believe every word of this as it has been discussed before and sounds spot on. i feel in light of all the negativity sorounding Wii U and its specs (CPU mainly).... Nintendo should get off their high horse boxed in mentality and release the specs or a valid statement.  ensuring those that just spent 300-350 dollars on the console its not going to be obsolete and cant run engines that will be the norm from 2013-2018.

#135205 Why the Wii U CPU rumors might be true

Posted by GAMER1984 on 21 November 2012 - 01:18 AM

This is a bit of a wierd one, I'd have loved to have seen how the original Wii would have turned out if it was stronger than the 360 and PS3, people would still talk crap about it though, Nintendo are the fathers of gaming and considering that some people are just damn rude.

Would have been nice to see
