#197756 noticing a trend with series creators who left big name publishers and

Posted by 3Dude on 21 April 2013 - 09:30 AM

In recent years, many of the big names behind famous franchises, have left their big name publishers and the ip's they made famous there, to start new works without publisher interference stifling all creativity and innovation in favor of cookie cutter games.

Square enix had a huge exodus, with the creator of final fantasy and much of the supporting talent behind the best games leaving and creating mistwalker, Many names behind xenogears and chrono trigger leaving and forming monolith soft.

Capcom lost the creators and staff behind resident evil, megaman, devil may cry, viewtiful joe, okami...

But.... The names some of these guys are using... are starting to look like they are 'sticking it to the man'

Xenoblade seemed innocent enough, it was explaind as an homage to the xeno series creator.....

Thn the final fantasy creator sakaguchi named his rpg game, the last story. A word for word synonym of the squeenix owned franchise he started.

Then, recently, shinji mikami, creator of resident evil, who left because of issues he had with publishing management during the re4 dev cycle... Who said not only would he not play re5, but he wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole....

Announced the official name of his survival horror game.

The resident evil creator named his new game, 'the evil within'.

Lets ignore the fact that the evil within already looks like it poos on re5&6 from space....

The evil within, resident evil.

Resident= Existing or inherent (within)

resident evil literally means the evil within.

Is this a message to publishers? A big middlefinger to the man? Or is it a message to us, wondering why our favourite franchises suck now? Are they telling us 'Hey, the real things over here now'.

I have my suspicions. But one thing is for sure. last story and xenoblade destroy any of their recent 'counter parts' of this gen. And the evil within looks to be continuing this tradition.

#197745 Why are people still ripping on the Wii U even after the X demo?

Posted by 3Dude on 21 April 2013 - 08:14 AM

Desert punk:

Comes into thread, makes wild unsubstantiated claims backed by sources proven wrong several times over and sketchy info actially taken back by the source that spread it.

Is proven wrong on all accounts and is challenged by several points.

Ignores all points, creates strawmen to fight, calls names.

Is called out,  debunked again, asked about ignored points.

Ignores points, creates new strawman, calls names.

Countered again, given more contradicting points.

Ignores all points and creates argument around intangible unquantifiable adjectives. Calls names.

Begins to complain about people, but describes his own actions.

Number of arguments engaged: 0.

#197224 Just Bought A WiiU, need to clarify some things.

Posted by Half on 19 April 2013 - 11:13 PM

Ok so i just bought the Premium model WiiU today and i need to clarify some things before i start playing.

1. Am i able to play the console without downloading the update at all (Not just in the background)

2. Do we know the exact size of the update, there were people saying it was 5GB and some saying 1GB. Since i only have an  8GB cap i won't be able to download it right away. (Note: my top internet speed is around 1.5mb/s tops)

3. The only game i have other than "Nintendo Land" is "Black Ops 2", will these need to be updated as well before i am able to use them.

If anyone can help me i would truly be grateful, thank you.

Well, people are saying you can't, but I was able to play Nintendo Land without connecting to the internet at all the first time.

I don't think it's officially been said how big it is, but the highest my internet goes is 300kb/s, and as an estimate I'd say it took me 2 hours.

You don't "need" to, but it's recommended, and for online play you do need to update them.

I fail to see any evidence against big guns from Nintendo at E3.

I'm pretty sure Blade of Dyna is a girl...not a dude.

Girls can be dudes...

#195648 Wii U Forums Chat Memorial Thread

Posted by Guy Fieri on 16 April 2013 - 03:32 PM

At the time being, I don't think we should really be too concerned about chat. Feld0 simply didn't renew the license for multiple site functions. Now there's obviously the thought that Feld0 might have done this intentionally ( not paying for the chat license).

As for all these " member grudges", I think we should lay these all to rest, water under the bridge. If we can all forgive and forget, live and learn from our past mistakes, we could possibly return chat to it's former glory. There will always be trolls, but if we become civilized enough to give them no thought, drama won't be a problem. And if members still break the rules, ban them.

#195548 Chat

Posted by Nollog on 16 April 2013 - 02:13 PM

Feedback as in saying he thinks it was a bad idea to take away the chat, and that he wants it back. Like the rest of us.

Oh so he wants the chat back.

I guess it is feedback.

I think you all know very well how much trouble you guys caused.

You don't deserve a chat right now. I'm sure feld0 isn't closed to the idea of adding it back in later if you can learn not to be such dicks to everyone.

#192904 What will you do if Nintendo fails to impress at E3 2013?

Posted by Nollog on 10 April 2013 - 09:49 PM

I'll move to New York and become a Dancing Cowboy.

I really doubt gaming media would be impressed with anything Nintendo could do.

They could announce they bought naughty dog and uncharted 4 would be exclusive to wii u and the sony fangirls would say naughty dog were bad at games anyway.

They could cure world boredom and IGN's Rich George would say "But I liked going on Twitter when I was bored :'( wah wah".

#190531 Unreal Engine 4: Elemental - PlayStation 4 vs. PC Comparison

Posted by Socalmuscle on 05 April 2013 - 01:24 PM

Socalmuscle, on 04 Apr 2013 - 16:49, said:Take a look at the chest plate armor on the fire dude. Texture reflections on pc. Completely absent on ps4.

If ue4 belongs on ps4 then it definitely belongs on wii u.

I'm kinda disappointed that a system which everyone seems to think is really powerful is already being beat (by a noticeable margin) by PC's.

For what it's worth, the original UE4 demo was on a pretty outrageous PC setup.  the new Infiltrator demo on a more realistic (but still very expensive) PC setup looks a lot more like The Samaritan, but with worse character models (especially the horrid face models).

Also, I would expect the PS4 can do a better job of the elemental demo than what was shown.  I suspect that the Unreal 4 engine is somewhat facing a struggle to leap ahead.  Not enough foresight was brought in to the beginning of development and therefore it is more like UE3 Plus (as in UE3 plus prettier particles and more realistic lighting - but at a very steep performance hit for a difference that isn't immediately noticeable.).  In other words, not much "bang for your buck." think of UE4 like a very optimized UE3, but with a few, new, processing intensive options.

The only problem with "UE3 Plus" is that the "plus" (4) part of it requires so much power to accomplish so (seemingly) little that no one really is going to care much.  And that leaves us with looking for minor details in what is essentially a very impressive demo on both platforms.

The reason we even care however, is that it is plain that the Wii U could do exactly what the PS4 is doing here.  and yet epic wants to artificially exaggerate their engine by saying it wouldn't be a good fit for the Wii U.
