#314732 Iwata acknowledges the reaction of Ninty's Digital Event

Instead of putting money into developing some games they spent all their budget on Muppets of themselves. Bravo Nintendo, bravo.

#314724 Metroid Prime Federation Force 3DS

Posted by CUD on 16 June 2015 - 03:25 PM

Other M was good, very good. Just bad VA. If you actually know deep Metroid lore you would get that. The Gameplay was solid and the story was fine. The VA was bad. It really REALLY respected the franchise tho.

Gameplay wasn't solid, it was decent but I wouldn't say solid. Controls were a little odd since they were using one Wiimote on its side to walk around a 3D environment and the implementation of the first person mode meant you had to point at the screen at times but couldn't even walk around a the same time. The controls weren't necessarily bad but they weren't great either, the game design overall was too story focused. The Metroid Prime series had a great story and presented it in a way that gave you a sense of adventure. The linearity of Other M really ruined the experience for me, Adam was constantly telling me exactly where to go. "Go here and by the way I'm just going to allow you to use an ability you already had now so use that." I didn't discover the abilities or earn them, Adam just decides that you can use it now. Metroid was never about that, it was about exploration and adventure, telling the player exactly where to go and restricting their abilities just to allow them at certain points in the game was not a step in the right direction.

Other M was a real disappointment to me as a Metroid fan, the linearity was probably the main drawback. Super Metroid and the Metroid Prime series really made me feel a great sense of adventure, I'd explore each room and scan it to see what I could find as I discovered new enemies and abilities. Other M was just: go here, do this, here's a new ability and a poorly acted cutscene. Not at all what I was hoping for or expecting from a Metroid game and now we've got Federation Force and Blast Ball, what are they doing with Metroid at this point I don't think they even know.

You're free to like it of course and I don't hate it but it was pretty disappointing after I loved the Metroid Prime series so much that I pre-ordered it to get that.

How many of you have autism and if so has it helped you in your modding career?

Yes, clearly autism would help someone make mods.

It's not about how "minor" the removals are.

It's Microsoft. It's a small test that will allow for more very soon.

enjoy.

That's pure speculation. You have no idea what they plan to do. Them taking away Minesweeper and other unimportant features isn't a sign that they're going to take away other important features then charge us to use them.

These are the ones he is so angry about. LOL nothing that even matters. The DVD stuff. Everyone uses VLC anyway.

Minesweeper and such can download free anyway.

How can anyone seriously complain about that? I suppose if you're a die hard Minesweeper fan...

#312555 Yooka-Laylee, revealed, officially planned for Wii U

Posted by CUD on 01 May 2015 - 09:59 PM

I still think his name should be Yook (producing Yook 'n Laylee). Yooka seems to me to be a bit more of a female name, and I actually thought Yooka was a girl.

It's much better as it is. If you change it to 'Yook' you ruin the ukulele pun.

That bat nose is either too big or too red.... Or both.

Yeah it did seem a bit off at first but I think it's already growing on me. I really like the chameleon design, well I like chameleons/lizards in general so it's hard to go wrong there for me but it's a nice style nonetheless.

#312105 Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens Trailer #2!

So is this like a sequel or what?

Yep. It's a new main series Star Wars movie which takes place around 30 years after the events of episode VI.

#312098 Black Ops 3 headed to Wii U?

It's like a bag of Doritos: it's mindless fun that you can easily enjoy, but it's not that great and you can do much better.

Same reason McDonald's is still in business. Cheap but accessible quick garbage.

I wouldn't call a bag of doritos 'mindless fun' but I get what you mean. I also wouldn't call these games cheap because they're full priced retail games, they're definitely accessible and that's the main source of appeal but it's just odd to me that these companies can sell the same game and people still pay good amount of money for them. It's the same damn game and it's not even a good one, like you both said it's accessible, mindless fun. Consumers are stupid.

People still play these games? I really wish the series would just die out but people keep throwing money at it for some strange reason.

#311725 AngryJoeShow Nintendo Rant

Posted by CUD on 08 April 2015 - 04:16 PM

When the IP belongs to them, then they are free to discuss as much as they want. As long as the IP does not belong to them - and they actually use it to make money - then they are not entitled to try and discuss as if they were the owners of said IP.
If it's just Nintendo or not is irrelevant. The IP, or IPs, does not belong to them.

That doesn't mean they can't agree or disagree with Nintendo's decisions. They just aren't anyone to "decide" what happens.
I see a lot pf people complain about this but i don't see people showing gratitude that they are making a living out of something that belongs to others.
Humility goes a long way.

And if i read correctly, Nintendo is letting youtubers have a piece of the pie. That's recognizing their work and importance, if you ask me.
But don't forget that this started without Nintendo's permission.

If it's not a Nintendo game, then it's that owner that has to speak up.

They're not discussing as if they're owners of the IP itself, they're discussing it as if they're players of the game that share their gameplay footage online like so many others do with so many other games. It being only Nintendo that does this is not irrelevant, it's exactly the problem. It's not a problem to Nintendo because this is their choice but this is just less incentive for YouTubers to stream Nintendo content so it's an odd move in the end. I would think people that watch Nintendo games would be more likely to purchase them not the other way around, so why would Nintendo want to reduce what is free advertising? Simply because they can get more money out of it by getting a share of the YouTuber's ad revenue.

Of course he can't decide what happens, all he is doing is expressing his disapproval of Nintendo's policies. I don't watch enough of Angry Joe's videos to be able to say how much he really appreciates his YouTube success but when Nintendo is the only company doing this I think he has the right to be annoyed by it.

I'm not sure why you would really defend Nintendo in this. Sure they have the right to do what they are doing but when they're the only one doing it (correct me if I'm wrong) out of all the gaming companies then I think it's something that should be criticised rather than just accepted as their decision. Nintendo gets a pass too easily with things like this when their only motivation is greed. They see a missed opportunity to make some extra cash instead of encouraging more people to promote their products online they think it's a better idea to take some of the money that person could make from it. Imagine with smaller YouTubers who don't make much at all from their channel, the cut that Nintendo takes from them would make it not worth bothering with Nintendo games.

Nintendo would rather take money from these people than encourage their online communities to grow, which would lead to more sales in the end for them so I can't see this being a worthwhile business decision.

#310879 God of War 3 Remastered - Announce Trailer | PS4

Posted by CUD on 22 March 2015 - 06:27 PM

Not sure why anyone would buy a PS4 or Xbox One. Waste of money really, unless they start releasing some must have exclusives for these systems I really don't see why people waste their money. They have sold well enough though so I suppose people don't mind wasting their money.

Cue pretentious responses from people who for some reason are members of the Wii U forum that don't do anything but insult Nintendo and sit around waiting to jump on people who say good things about Nintendo. Accusations of fanboy-ism (Nintendo supporters on the Wii U forums!?!!?!?;ljfas;dfljkasdf?!1!!?) almost certain.

I can't recall seeing users like that on here. Users that aren't huge fans of Nintendo seem pretty level-headed. I don't have a Wii U but it's probably the system I would want most out of the three since its exclusives seem the most appealing.

I don't think that it's that the Sony and MS aren't trying but that they're trying a different approach. Nintendo is doing the same as what the usually do and it works but Sony and MS have to impress their audience with VR and HD graphics because that's the approach they've chosen and it's a much harder approach when you use such unimpressive hardware.
