#191653 EA's Lack Of Wii U Support An Opportunity For Others?

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 08 April 2013 - 02:21 PM

Here's the actual quote:

The console business is still a core part of our business; it’s the majority of our business. The demise of console gaming is very premature as far as we’re concerned, we still have thousands of people focused on developing current-generation Xbox 360 and PS3 games, as well as people focused now on the next generation when that finally arrives and so, people still want core games.

Interpret as you like, but in no way did he say that they're never making another Wii U game.

Further on topic, I would love to see some other company have a go at sports games,

just to see what sort of fresh ideas other studios can come up with.

On a side note, gimme sci-fi/fantasy sports games with a massive focus on rpg.

#188729 Nintendo: Games will save the Wii U, not a price cut

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 31 March 2013 - 06:54 PM

Lego City and Monster Hunter have just proven this claim.

The Wii U saw a global 150% increase in hardware sales and 300% in software sales.

In USA alone those numbers are roughly 200% and 650% (!!!) respectively.

Even Europe, who's sales numbers do not include Lego City yet, the best selling Wii U game in USA, saw an increase of roughly 100% in both hardware and software.

Next week should further improve those numbers.

Imagine what Pikmin 3 will bring.

(btw I know it's VGChartz data, but its the same data that's been used for the doom threads)

#187485 Battlefield 4 confirmed not coming to Wii U.

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 28 March 2013 - 05:29 PM

This is really unfortunate.

I hope this doesn`t mean we won`t CoD either.

Of all the games that Wii U isn`t getting, this is probably the first one that really is important. This is the one title that sold really, really well with BF 3 and could do really good for Wii U.

But the most important part is that PS4 and Xbox3 are getting it and that is a big loss.

Wii U not getting titles that PS4 and Xbox3 aren`t getting either is pretty much insignificant in the long run. But losing big titles for it`s competitors is bad.

Let`s hope that from the next ND to E3 things change for the better.

CoD is developed and published by entire different companies,

if anything this increases chances CoD will appear on Wii U,

because it won't be going against its main competitor.

Also, CoD sells way better than Battlefield.

I myself have never been interested really in the Battlefield series.

I enjoyed the very first CoD and Modern Warfare 2.

(probably enjoyed 2 the most as it was the first modern warfare game I played)

All of them are just graphically improved version of the previous games. (overstated to make a point)

I'd still rather play Counter Strike 1.6 over either of the series.

My interest in these games doesn't increase when they release a new game practically every year.

9 Battlefield games in 9 years, same developers, at what point do you plan to innovate with those time periods?

I honestly don't understand how they get away with all the rehashes.

(maybe I've overlooked a lot of innovation these games have brought, if so, please correct me)

The lack of Frostbite support does look bad for Nintendo at this moment,

but I am confident the Wii U will be a most have console by the end of the year.

I only hope that by that time Nintendo will have found another way to produce sports games,

so they wont have to rely on EA for those.

I don't often wish for the downfall of certain companies but I strongly believe EA is a virus in the gaming industry and needs to be exterminated.

I don't know what happened here, I'm baked, started writing and well...

I was gonna go on a big ass rant about the state of sports games because of EA but I'll just stop here.

#184907 What HD remakes of nintendo games do you want on wii u?

Not developed or published by Nintendo but; Body Harvest.

It was an exclusive though.

#184004 Game reviews on a glance

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 18 March 2013 - 05:49 PM

While I like your idea of short info on games to help people decide,

things like "good graphics" , "Wii U exclusive" and "bargain" are by no means justified reasons to buy a certain game, in my opinion.

I think you'd accomplish more by having 2-3 sentences about the game and no score.

For me the biggest benefit of having a beard is not looking like a 16 year old girl...

#183807 Monster Hunter reviews

I dont know what the IIRC stands for but thanks. I just tried finding it via google and you are spot on. Here is the proof for those who want:
http://www.capcom-un...game-file-sizes

I think 6 gb is doable for me.

IIRC = If I remember correctly.

Nice to see this game getting so many positive reviews, won't have a Wii U for a while, but if I buy one before Monster Hunter 4 is on the horizon I'll probably pick this one up.

#183570 Nintendo Renews Eternal Darkness Trademark

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 17 March 2013 - 07:19 AM

3Dude actually pointed this out in the "What is Retro Studios Working on?" thread.
Also noted that its the fifth time they extend it so nothing particularly interesting.

Could be that they've been waiting for an HD console with more realistic graphics to release a sequel though.

#181877 Producer believes LEGO City is Wii U’s best game, will sell consoles?

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 12 March 2013 - 05:49 AM

The game is getting mediocore reviews to far, especially "The game takes 45 seconds to load" thing. Ugh, I really wanted this game.

This hardly constitutes as mediocre. According to EDGE, Lego City Undercover is as bad as Aliens: Colonial Marines, I find that hard to believe.

I think I saw a 7 somewhere as well but I can't seem to find it anymore. I only found the actual reviews from Ranting Robots and Game Informer.

Considering the 5 is from EDGE and the 90% from an official Nintendo Mag, I'd say this game is a strong 8.

Not a masterpiece, but it'll definitely sell some consoles.

#180357 what can Nintendo do to win EA back

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 07 March 2013 - 03:09 PM

we should bomb nintendo.com with demands to get EA back.

Shouldn't we bomb EA.com then?

#179943 Producer believes LEGO City is Wii U’s best game, will sell consoles?

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 06 March 2013 - 01:28 PM

I think this game has a lot of potential but as everything with Nintendo needs to be advertised better.

I was quite skeptical at first but the more I see the more im intruiged. Looking at some footage the world maps looks pretty big and its just full of platforming/free running stuff.

I see this game being a slow system seller, it won't have a massive impact straight away. It'll need some time to build up people's interest.

#179047 EA EXPOSED

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 04 March 2013 - 01:27 PM

Yes.  That means EA chooses where the games end up.

Doesn't mean they decide how much effort Criterion Games is willing to put into it, which was the point I was making.

#178957 EA EXPOSED

Posted by TheSparrow87 on 04 March 2013 - 10:41 AM

So if EA is ditching Nintendo, why do they put so much effort in the Wii U version of NFS?

Criterion Games are the developers for that game, EA are just the publishers.
