#216173 Nintendo said my ID was inappropriate so I had to delete it

Am I the only one happy to hear that Nintendo is against using the term YOLO?

#215660 How many games do you "need?"

Posted by grahamf on 04 June 2013 - 02:37 PM

I have too many. There's so many games that I never finished while really wanting to, yet I can't choose which one I want to play again.

#215040 Is the wii u THAT underpowered?

Posted by grahamf on 03 June 2013 - 07:43 AM

Jaguar is an x86 chip, meaning that it is generally the same architecture as the first x86-64 chips of 2006. Anything else would be incompatible with Windows and such unless Microsoft rewrote the os for that platform.

Espresso, while being based on the Power architecture, is under the full control of Nintendo which can tailor the chip to handle the exact workload that gaming requires. X86 on the other hand has to be more of a generic chip that handles anything from gaming to daemons/services to Microsoft Office, meaning that not all of it's processing abilities are directly usable for gaming.

All I'm see getting established is that Espresso and Jaguar are different architectures and are not completely comparable. Developers used to coding for Windows will be more familiar with the XBone and PS4 and can take better advantage of it's hardware, while Nintendo and mobile developers will be more familiar with the Wii U's setup. In the end it's up to the developers to make the most of the system and empirically prove it's abilities instead of people at us looking at the cold hard specs end extrapolating the end user game's performance and experience.

We should problably just lock this thread now. With the limited amount of evidence it's just a faith fight now.

#214646 FIrst encounter with a counterfeit Wii U Pro controller and comparison with real

Posted by grahamf on 02 June 2013 - 08:44 AM

I had picked up a knockoff gamecube controller for $5 off of ebay. It's not branded and the triggers and joysticks don't have as much resistance to them, but I've been pretty happy with it. I'd never get a wireless knockoff though..

#213809 Would you get a Luigi bundle?

Posted by grahamf on 31 May 2013 - 10:29 AM

I'm aware I haven't gotten the right color.

Bundle would be a pro pack with 32GB and the bigger gamepad battery, along with NSMBU and the Luigi DLC.

#213374 Do you think Nintendo should make a change to their Wii U game prices?

Posted by grahamf on 30 May 2013 - 01:52 PM

I wish the standard was $50. That fits nicely onto a Gift card (after you pay the of course)

Yeah I like the new disk edges. It's just rounded but it makes it so whenever I pick up a disk it feels like a gift from the gods.

#212304 Wii U for young kids?

Posted by grahamf on 28 May 2013 - 10:52 AM

BIt is almost completely navigateable using the wiimotes (and I assume Pro controller), except the gamepad is required for some games (Like Lego City and I believe Nintendoland, but not scribblenaughts or Sonic racing)

One thing I'd reccomend is create an administrator user with a password and use that with the eShop, and use parental controls on the accounts you want the kids to use. If you want, you can set up individual accounts for each kid to keep their gamesaves seperate.

#212096 Who hates this show?

Posted by grahamf on 27 May 2013 - 09:50 PM

That's the stupidest show I've ever seen. And I watched Adventure time. About the same as Bob's Burgers but cruder.

Oh god the hot potato scene nearly killed me.

1. Microsoft will actually show games. They will be pretty similar to last gen games

2. Microsoft will attempt to clear up confusion about the used games and such, causing more confusion in the process.

3. Sony will show show sone super zoomed in pictures of the PS4, showing how sharp the corners are and the texture of the plastic

#211598 What Do You Think of the Name "Xbox One"?

Posted by grahamf on 26 May 2013 - 09:59 PM

This is the generation of uninmaginiative console names. But don't tell Sony.

#211223 Your favourite thing about the Wii U

Posted by grahamf on 25 May 2013 - 12:51 PM

1. It's shipping now.

2. I can sell my games hassle-free if I wanted to.

3. I don't need to have an old Wii kicking around.

4. The games I have are fun

5. I have one.
