#299345 Has anyone got Hyrule warriors yet

Posted by Ledo Jaeger on 28 September 2014 - 10:24 AM

I knew that this would probably be good; I had no idea I would be as enthralled with it as I am.

For me, I have a lot to do, so games that request a lot of my time tend to make me anxious - like playing them to the end is more of a chore to check off a list than fun.

BUT THIS.

#288975 The Legend of Zelda: For Wii U Discussion Thread 2015

Posted by Ledo Jaeger on 09 June 2014 - 01:26 PM

Okay enough about the art.... Anyone have any concepts for new gameplay mechanics? Items? Etc?

I'm hoping they go out of their way to make a Zelda that could ONLY function properly on the Gamepad. I also have a feeling that they're going to have the optional Wii Motion Plus controls. So if they do that, Gamepad functionality probably won't be that crucial.

#288109 Jonah Hill says homophobic slur, gives standard apology

The fact that this is considered news is frightening, almost as frightening as the fact he had to give an extensive apology. And if he didn't apologize for using the forbidden word? What then? People leap to destroy his livelihood? The world has an especially scary climate these days

#284174 Newly revealed 1500 year old Bible says that Jesus was not crucified

Posted by Ledo Jaeger on 07 May 2014 - 07:08 AM

Barnabas was not a disciple. He was part of the early Church post-Christ and helped convince the others that Saul, a previous persecutor of the church, had truly been converted.

So the authorship right from the get-go is fraudulent and Barnabas being a disciple - which this article states as fact from the start - isn't even a thing.

It is also extreme exaggeration to suggest it's '1500-2000 years old', since the authorship and content reveals a much later date. Even wikipedia will tell you it's not mentioned for sure until 1634, by proponents of Islam. The content of the text is far more the Islamic re-imagining of Jesus's life and of Islamic themes, totally contradicting entire crucial Christian doctrine. It was not seen and rejected by the council that assembled the Biblical canon.

Also in the work Jesus constantly denies his own deity and is a flat-out reversal of the gospels.

Gospel of Barnabas: "Jesus answered: "And you; what say you that I am?" Peter answered: "You are Christ, son of God". Then was Jesus angry, and with

anger rebuked him, saying: "Begone and depart from me, because you are the devil and seek to cause me offenses.""

Gospel of Mark: "And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him. And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again."

Now, whether you're a Christian or not, anyone looking at the facts can recognize the straight-up bogus. Did I mention that Barnabas wasn't a disciple? The implications of the actual gospel are the ones that are pretty major. Instead, we hear articles like this and happily accept their shallow factuality, and a chorus of 'wow, how interesting! How cool!' rings through the halls. This is rooted in no facts of Christianity, whether you believe in Jesus or not.

#278635 Mozilla (Firefox) CEO Brendan Eich Donated To Anti-Gay Charity - Boycott Started

"I do not insist that anyone agree with me on a great many things, including political issues, and I refrain from putting my personal beliefs in others’ way in all matters Mozilla, JS, and Web. I hope for the same in return."

Seems reasonable to me

DOESN'T seem reasonable that the position of one man could result in a boycotts, drama, etc. If he isn't directly getting in your way and telling you what to do with your life, but you're still upset with him, you're hating for no reason. What would you like? The man to be hung? yeesh, people are scary for numerous reasons here

Can't wait for Superstar Saga on the Wii U <3 one of my favorite childhood games.

The Real Deal Baseball thing was...interesting. Interesting enough to pique my interest. Very strange.

More X footage. So stoked about that

OH and Little Mac for SSB4 is pretty sweet

Nintendo has revealed that it wants to enrich the value of the Wii U GamePad through a variety of methods. The company plans to offer games that take full advantage of the 6.2-inch touch-screen controller. It also wants to make full use of the controller’s NFC function by preparing multiple schemes, including the implementation of NFC payments. Nintendo DS software, which will eventually be added to the Wii U Virtual Console lineup, will be playable on the Wii U GamePad.

It's a invite life so it's a grey area of killing.

The more I witness, the more I understand that humanity can justify just about anything that's convenient to them. Even if that's telling themselves 'it's a grey area'.

#269330 Disturbing Thought- Are We Even Gamers Anymore?

Posted by Ledo Jaeger on 29 January 2014 - 12:15 PM

On gaming as a serious subject:

I have a type of mind that likes to think things through.

As a result, I'm held up from saying 'let's let our games be games, and our lives be our lives'. Truth is that video games, their aesthetics/characters/music/sense of adventure has had a HUGE impact on my life and the way I see the world, and how I find motivation in some things that others view as absolutely charmless. Likewise, some 'valuable' real world interests (the study of Japanese language) stemmed from my childhood gaming addiction.

Some would scorn people investing in the virtual worlds as wasting their time, yet laud Shakespeare and novels and other such things as educational and valuable.

The truth is this, and I believe it is to some extent true for every 'gamer': The world sucks, so we all seek some sort of escapism and that can take the form of Shakespeare, or novels, or movies, or video games - all worlds of our invention. That escapism is more or less severe depending on the person. For me, games stoke the fire of my imagination and help me to see the real world with more hope and happiness.

The lack of advantage even Nintendo is taking in the gamepad makes me a sad ledo.

Didn't know him, but it's horrible to hear of someone going out that way - especially concerning the circumstances with his wife. God be with her and family and friends. If only people knew their true value.

#267706 Game Informer trash talks Wii U in trollbait aricle (Rant)

Posted by Ledo Jaeger on 20 January 2014 - 04:56 PM

I totally agree with this, I look at my library of Wii U games and come up blank with why it's a groundbreaking system. You can talk about all you want about how selecting items via touch screen is amazing, but I would much rather just take the extra 1 second with a regular controller. The only giant benefiting factor is off-TV play, and even then I don't use it all that often. I'm not saying it's a bad system and neither is GI, but to anyone that's not a hardcore fan it's just not appealing.

I tend to agree with you here. It's fun, yes, and as a Nintendo fan I like it, but I understand that it's not like the Wii in the difference it makes. It makes maps and items and menus a breeze, and in-house Nintendo games have come up with clever uses, but it doesn't really rise from clever to brilliant often. It's a good effort but it's not groundbreaking.
