Only first party titles on the 2015 list that interests me are Zelda and Xenoblade.  :(

I've got an interest in Splatoon and Star Fox as well, but Zelda and Xenoblade are the two I'm really hoping for. I just hope they are worth the wait!!

#270507 One Game, Could Change Everything

Game Freak have already stated that the Main Series games are staying on handhelds. That doesn't mean we couldn't get some kind of big AAA RPG that is Completely different than the main series. Read my whole post before you comment on it. That's the point of the Monolith Soft comment.

Sony made plenty of money from the PS1 and PS2, but yes the PS3 cost them billions from what I've read.

Games Freak have already stated that Pokemon games will remain on Nintendo handhelds.

But the casual gamers won't like all these great games, they want Wii Party U and Wii Fit U. Oh wait, they don't because they're not buying the Wii U are they?

Someone should put a fork in the Wii U, it's done!

Game Freak said the Main Series Pokemon games would stay on handhelds. This does not mean a huge AAA RPG is impossible. Hence the comment about a crossover with Monolith. Read my post in it's entirety and understand it before commenting on it.

I'd be ok with Monolith working on an RPG set in the Pokemon universe. Not even a mainstream title, it could even be a crossover between pokemon and xenoblade/X.

#270154 One Game, Could Change Everything

Posted by lucario23 on 02 February 2014 - 08:24 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The only pokemon game I want to see is a big open world JRPG game co-develpoed with Monolith Soft. Find a way to translate the stats of pokemon from the handheld series over, yet make the gameplay unique to the console game. two different gameplay experiences, reasons to own two different consoles. I'll let the smart people at Nintendo figure out the gameplay of the console game, but Mnolith Soft could make something amazing in this world.

I'd even be ok with Them even focusing on making a JRPG in the Pokemon Universe that focuses on some new kind of combat mechanics. Take the Aura Guardian story line with Lucario and stuff from the show. Make up some interesting lore, nail the gameplay, and you could implement the whole pokemon trainer thing as a side mission in the game. they would already have the models for all the pokemon to battle anyway from being in game.

#293180 Fire Emblem: Awakening characters and Captain Falcon announced for Smash

I was expecting chrom and robin to be together, but I thought it'd be the other way around. Wish chrom would help out on a few other moves too though. Lucian looks like she's gonna be the quicker Marth from brawl more or less and Marth will be more reminiscent of his melee self

#280598 What on earth could Nintendo should do at E3 to win back developers?

Posted by lucario23 on 09 April 2014 - 11:57 AM in Wii U Games and Software

guys, it's simple really. Nintendo has dug themselves into a hole and they need to dig themselves out of it, not pretend it doesn't exist.

E3 is actually pretty straightforward:

1) controller redesign

2) cross game chat announced

3)improved Miiverse

4) 2/3rds of time spent on games needs to be spent on 3rd party (Mighty No. 9, Project CARS, other bigger titles that are third party that the Wii U actually has and can be hyped up (not indies))  This is to start giving the correct impression that the Wii U has a library outside of nintendo content.

5) opening presentation with full reveal of Monolith Soft's X and closing the show with Zelda announcement. (Metroid Prime or F-Zero announced/teased a swell)

Once E3 is over, nintendo needs to make sure that the stuff they talk about is other developers games 2/3rds of the time in Nintendo Directs and youtube videos, etc. They need to start securing releases of games like Star Citizen and Kingdom Come Deliverance, racing games, and just going after every gaming market that isn't first person shooter and EA Sports addicts.

They do need to slowly build their way to where they have those games, and need to talk about the multiplatform support and games they do have. and constantly be reminding people that they have 80% of the games the other two consoles have, and then their exclusive stuff as well. That's all it  really takes, hype your system, release new and better features for it constantly, and lavish the third party support you have with praise and attention. Notice how these are things that 1) Nintendo can do really easily in their own way and 2) Sony and Mircisoft already do with their system. and 3) notice how nintendo doesn't have to change any of their game development philosophies in the slightest. So they aren't really changing that much.

#283236 Nintendo E3 2014 Rumors! LET THE FUN BEGIN!

Posted by lucario23 on 30 April 2014 - 07:24 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Very few people on the ign boards are questioning it. Huh. I'm skeptical, but it actually seems mostly reasonable. Especially given the mood Nintendo seems to be in these past few days.

#271821 DKC: Tropical Freeze has some TERRIBLE loading times.

Posted by lucario23 on 12 February 2014 - 07:15 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Do some pushups or eat a banana during the loading times.

All the Bananas!!! And I've never really had an issue with loading times. For me they were always a sense of anticipation. Granted I haven't played Lego City Undercover so there may be an upper limit to my patience, but Very few games have ever reached it (Lego Island 2 among others)

#271680 AE games the new game developer slam third party companies for wii u support

Posted by lucario23 on 11 February 2014 - 10:33 AM in Wii U Games and Software

If this was a professional company they wouldn't have taken such obvious jabs at Ubisoft and EA. It's simply not professional. I'm calling either a fake, of a decent to bad indie game

#270313 Mergers and Acquisitions

Buy Platinum games and get them making a new Starfox game and a Metroid game.

StarFox? yes. Metroid? NO!! Not a Platinum kind of game. Fox needs a return and Kamiya and company could make a good game out of it. I'm with everyone else who wants F-Zero to go to Shi'nen as Fast Racing i close enough that they could do it with minimal involvement from Nintendo.

#293576 Would you buy more remakes of Pokemon?

Posted by lucario23 on 17 July 2014 - 04:22 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Because they could do a lot with a turn based system a la Final Fantasy Tactics. Yes I've played Xenoblade Chronicles and games with similar combat systems and they are awful especially on a console, although a real time with pause system like Baldur's Gate could work on Wii U with the touchscreen.

Ok, that's clearly a matter of opinion and not an objective view of the situation. While Xenoblade's is not the ONLY combat system that could work, saying it's awful without explaining why doesn't convince me. A turn based system would work for a game. I just think something like Xenoblade could really be made intuitive and make the game unique compared to the handhelds.

#293093 Would you buy more remakes of Pokemon?

Posted by lucario23 on 13 July 2014 - 07:29 AM in Wii U Games and Software

People need to get it through their heads that mainstream pokemon is never going to come to consoles. There's no point doing it, there's little to be gained, and Gamefreak have said multiple times that they don't want to.

With that being said though, Nintendo should definitely start using the IP on consoles, but it shouldn't be a copy of the handheld games. Perhaps some sort of MMO where the classes are based off pokemon types. For example Rock/Ground pokemon could be tanks while Psychics could be a mage class.

See my above post.

#293184 Would you buy more remakes of Pokemon?

Posted by lucario23 on 14 July 2014 - 01:46 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Why is there little to be gained? A big pokemon game on console would be fantastic and like others said amiibos could be used greatly.

No, I disagree with this completely. Keep the combat turn-based but incorporate movement into a little, like FF tactics or if they do go real time kind make it real time with pause like Baldur's Gate where you could use the gamepad to move pokemon around the battlefield.

I understand your concern. Have you played xenoblade chronicles? It looks like an action combat system til you really get to know it, then you start to see hat everything is on a timer, thus dictating "turns" so to speak that would give pokemon the same level of strategy while keeping players more engaged in the console experience. By taking this combat and designing it and the open world around Pokemon I bet monolith could come up with something that is both of high quality and still different enough from handhelds that wouldn't steal their market.

Plus, this opens up the possibility for a good story and deep story mechanics. Something pokemon should really explore on the consoles to set itself apart again, from the handheld.

Plus plus, if you REALLY HAVE TO HAVE your turn based, you could throw in the turn based combat as some kind of side thing/ let you battle on the big screen with 3DSs etc.

What is so important about keeping the combat so turn based anyway? Honestly curious.

#293061 Would you buy more remakes of Pokemon?

Posted by lucario23 on 12 July 2014 - 09:06 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I want Monolith Soft to design a battle system for Pokemon and release a big open world JRPG set in the Pokemon Universe. THAT's What Pokemon needs to be on a console.

The following are optional features.

And if you wanted to incorporate the handheld combat system as a large side quest series and to play each other on the big screen with the handheld teams (3DS vs 3DS) I'd be cool with that too!

#291061 Nintendo: Third-party publishers will return as Wii U sees more system sellers

Posted by lucario23 on 20 June 2014 - 07:46 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The Wii U's biggest problems in respect to western third parties are it's specs/architecture, and the online development/devs keeping you as connected as possible to withhold bits and pieces they can unlock when you show them cash.

I doubt you'd see these next gen ports even if the Wii U had the same specs and architecture as the PS4 simply because of the stigma that I won't sell/ isn't the type of game that sells on a Nintendo console.

#291157 Nintendo: Third-party publishers will return as Wii U sees more system sellers

Posted by lucario23 on 21 June 2014 - 06:53 PM in Wii U Games and Software

You HAVE NO POINT.

What you have is a fictional narrative you find attractive.

Iwatas Nintendo are damn SAINTS to 3rd parties compared to Yamauchi's N64 and gamecube days.

3rd parties dropped multiplat cube support, because Yamauchi literally told them they sucked, and anyone who made games for multiple platforms instead of unique games were worthless hacks, and he forced EVERYONE at nintendo to yes man this philosophy.

The n64/cube ARE THE REASONS 3rd parties wont do anything 'because its nintendo'.

Educate yourself.

http://www.dromble.c...ry-of-gamecube/

Eidos announced to the press that they were pulling support for the GameCube, and they told other publishers to follow their lead. “The GameCube is a declining business. If other companies follow us, [Nintendo] will have a hard battle to fight,” said Eido’s Chief Executive Mike McGarvey.

who was once part of the Ultra 64 “Dream Team” in 1995, had a great relationship with Nintendo. By 2003, the relationship soured, and Acclaim dropped its support for the Nintendo GameCube.

One by one, publishers began dropping their GameCube support like flies. At a Dutch event that same year (2003), Atari announced that Driver 3, Mission Impossible: Operation Surma, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines had all been cancelled on the GameCube and planned to axe other GameCube titles as well.

THQ followed Atari’s lead by cancelling the GameCube version of “The Suffering” and told the press that the game would still come to PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

Midway would also revealed that it had no future plans for Gamecube. “Mortal Kombat: Deception is not under development for GameCube,” a Midway representative said...

Educate your damn self.

yeah, Iwata's got a long uphill battle with third parties, but I think the indie scene will give them a place to prove to big publishers that Iwata's Nintendo is worth putting games on. Nintendo just needs to make it a goal they slowly and methodically move towards through the Wii U's life cycle and they will be fine.

I'd personally be going for every indie/kickstarter game I could get while trying to get as much cooperation from companies like Ubisoft and Square Enix. I know Ubi kind of messed with them on Watch Dogs and Rayman, but they are at least supporting the console. Which is a start, even if it was a lousy one.

#270141 What do you want in Zelda U?

Posted by lucario23 on 02 February 2014 - 07:55 PM in Wii U Games and Software

wii motion plus better be an OPTION for the sword play. That stuff worked really well in skyward sword and it can only be better on newer hardware. As far as the world is concerned I'm thinking something like Link Between Worlds meets Skyrim. I want it to be a dense world and a big open world, but not quite Skyrim big. Zelda isn't a pure sandbox game and it shouldn't try to be. I would like a huge world to explore, but think like maybe 2x the size of Twilight Princess with the density of stuff like Skyward Sword ought to be good.

I'd like to see multiple Hylian villages instead of just Kakariko and Castle Town. It would be nice to get a feel of what living in Hyrule is actually like so it means something to save it. In that sense I would like them to learn from Skyrim, but don't make insanely huge open world just because (though I don't think they will). I'd like to see other things like spontaneous events happening in the open world. Quests that involve side dungeons and caves and things like the little corners of Link to the Past and Link Between Worlds.

They can't get over the fact that the new CoD has sh!t graphics and the fact that they're copying titanfall?

X was revealed with Mechs in the trailer in the January Direct of 2013. Titanfall was revealed at E3 2013... Yep the game revealed first is copying the game that was still unannounced. Nevermind the fact that X has completely different gameplay and combat in an open world experience instead of the shooter with competitive online play experience of Titanfall.

#290311 Grade each conference

Posted by lucario23 on 14 June 2014 - 05:06 PM in E3 2014 Archive

Microsoft- B-B+

Phantom Dust and Scalebound plus all the usual stuff was great!

Sony- N/A

didn't watch, but No Man's Sky is only a timed exclusive for them and I saw someone in this thread say it was console exclusive to them. It they lied/ extremely downplayed that I'll be extremely pissed and retroactively give them an F on the grading scale that's a 0%

Ubisoft- B to B-

Only got to see the first part of it, and I'm sure it was solid, but as I haven't heard about any new IPs that came out of that conference like Watch Dogs, The Crew, and the Division have in the last 2 years it really couldn't have been their best year.

EA C-

Battlefront, DICE, and Bioware saved this from becoming a complete disaster. Battlefront didn't have enough shown. Mass Effect looked neat but seemed pretty early on still, Battlefield Hardline and Mirror's Edge were basically the only other highlights besides that.

#275980 Nicalis Founder - "Wii U Gamepad is a waste of time and resources."

Posted by lucario23 on 05 March 2014 - 08:20 PM in Wii U Hardware

To an extent, it is kind of a waste. No game has used it in any substantially useful way besides Nintendo Land (where's it's part of the game), Game & Wario (same reason as Nintendo Land), the Scribblenauts games (typing), Lego City Undercover, and Pikmin 3's map. Everything else has just been off TV or a stats screen, which is a nice feature, but it's just not being used to it's full potential.

how many games really used the wii mote to it's full potential at this time in the console cycle? I mean we had Galaxy, Fire Emblem, Metroid?, that's about it for actual games of this nature. sure, it had it's mainstream success, but those games were wii sports and stuff, never really changed the core gamer's persective on how they should play their games

#290412 Xenoblade X releasing in 2015

Posted by lucario23 on 15 June 2014 - 01:26 PM in E3 2014 Archive

3Dude. have we heard anything about if this game has any sort of multiplayer co-op yet? I know that was speculated a while back.

For some reason Kunihiko Tanaka's particular style invokes this reaction from people at first. Same exact thing happened when they saw the weird cherubby faces in xenosaga ep 1.

Of course, after they got used to it and Xenosaga II came around with normal anime faces, they then whined about not having the deformo faces... so I guess they slowly worked their way back?

I dont know, I was never a big fan of xenosaga. No gameplay, poor combat, a massive regression in level/world design compared to gears, and literally nothing but hours upon hours of cutscenes of cringeworthy cg wank material.... and the story was a poorly told convoluted mess that couldnt really make any intelligent subtle use of the philosophies it was based on like xenogears. So they shoved bouncing cg boobs in. Boobs boobs and more boobs.

Personally I was hoping for Kunihiko Tanaka's more xenogear like designs.

xenogears_conceptart_jFXgT.jpg
279752-xeno_bartholomew_fatima.jpg
xenogears6.jpg

But whatever. Ill take the faces knowing the game itself is safe and far away from anything remotely xenosaga, forged in Takahashis philosophy that xenosaga style game design is a dead end.

see above post.

#290422 Xenoblade X releasing in 2015

Posted by lucario23 on 15 June 2014 - 02:46 PM in E3 2014 Archive

Me and a frienc had this talk before E3 and seems he was right. I was worried be a online focused game. He suggest will be a single player story with a big online Co-op mode as something seperate or something along the lines of Dragon Quest IX on DS. Online is there so either be a seperate mode or join your friends if you want. The meat of the game will be the story mode I am sure.

I'm confused, are you saying you think it still has onilne elements? like co-op? Cuz the character creation lends itself to that a bit, but idk. I really hope it is a fully co-op able story but can be played completely single player, but you'd think Nintendo would say something about it's online capability if it were happening...

#290454 Xenoblade X releasing in 2015

Posted by lucario23 on 15 June 2014 - 04:49 PM in E3 2014 Archive

Ok in Dragon Quest IX you play the main story but you can bring friends online to be part of your party instead of characters from the game. So yeah Co-op.

Also in DQIX you can play the entire game without going online as well. So I am betting on something like that. Also was was saying they also may have a optional online mode like The Last Story. That had nothing to do with the story just went online to fight and such. They may have one or the other or both but I can promise you can play offline if wanting to. Nintendo isn't that company and nor is Monolith. They are not MS,EA or Square. So doubt there is anything to worry about.

Ah, ok. I understand that. My main concern was that the Dragon Quest IX style online (or any for that matter ) Wouldn't be in the game. I really hope they have the Dragon Quest IX style to this!! I'd really like to play this sort of gameplay while co-oping with a few friends.
