#53575 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Tux on 11 January 2012 - 08:45 PM in Wii U Hardware

I think they will price the system aggressively. Ideally $299, but I think it will end up being $349. It's cheap enough to get the average family who liked the wii to buy it, most likely at Christmas, along with the gamer who wants the next gen system without Nintendo losing too much/any money.

They obviously need to have worthwhile software, make sure everyone and their mother knows it's a new system, and something they "need" to have.

Edit: Missing a word

#54344 Your favorite video game character?

Posted by Tux on 14 January 2012 - 03:06 PM in General Gaming

Mario, but I'll say Raz from Psychonauts to be original. I love that game. ;)

#54873 Your favorite game that no one plays

Posted by Tux on 16 January 2012 - 01:39 AM in General Gaming

I absolutely love Psychonauts. It's one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had playing a game and definitely the funniest. The game is zany and the thought that was put into the script is something to be praised. I'm certain I haven't laughed at a game more than Psychonauts. The game is pretty cheap on steam if you want to play it.

Braid and Limbo are two games that played wonderfully and had a story that made you think. The stories aren't really "there" per say, you have an idea what happened but they are games that you want to discuss with others who have played the games. Braid's ending was a blew my mind and was of the greatest endings if not the greatest endings to a game I've played. Limbo was more somber and a great twist on the usual game. They're cheap on XBL and Braid is also on steam, so play them!

If you've played either Braid or Limbo, which I highly recommend you do if you haven't, are there any games that you think are similar to these in story? I've been trying to find games that you have to think about once it ends to get an idea what actually happened. Also if you've played Braid I'd like to see what you thought the ending was referencing, feel free to shoot me a message about it. B)

#56477 What should Nintendo's online be called

Posted by Tux on 22 January 2012 - 05:53 PM in Wii U Hardware

Yep, Nintendo has registered the domain name for nintendonetwork.net
Basically confirms it now.

Nintendonetwork.com also expires this year, although I'm sure the person who parked it will renew. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo scooped up that domain name.

#57553 RUMOR: Nintendo considering renaming the Wii U

Posted by Tux on 26 January 2012 - 12:18 PM in Wii U Hardware

I like "N-Dimension" or Nintendo Dimension because of the many different ways the console could be played. But really when you think about what was the coolest named Nintendo home console? The more I think about it what is or was the greatest name for any home console? Probably another topic sorry but yeah. What ever the name of Nintendo's home console doesn't matter as long as I got one and I'm having a blast playing.

I actually that name, it makes sense too. They keep talking about bringing the gamer into a new game world that surrounds them, dimension would work great.

#58069 What is the average age group on the website I bet I'm the youngest one h...

Posted by Tux on 28 January 2012 - 12:34 AM in The Café

I am 21 years old just like the other 20+ year members I feel old -_-

I'm 21 as well. Feels weird to be more than just a year or two older than most people here.

Does anyone remember hearing about this at E3? I don't.

Posted by Tux on 11 January 2012 - 08:53 PM in Wii U Hardware

Nintendo claimed it was there hmmmmm.

That's the weird thing about that, I'm wondering if someone just said the wrong info to the guy and he never questioned it.

#54875 What will Wii U game covers look like?

Posted by Tux on 16 January 2012 - 01:45 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I want them to look like a ps3 case. I want a black cover too.

Posted ImageLike this but black

I agree with you about the PS3 cases. I really like the fact that they're smaller and more compact. They just look more appealing and are easier to store.

How about both?

Nope, one or the other. Choose now!

#54310 What launch titles will you pick up with your Wii U?

Posted by Tux on 14 January 2012 - 01:32 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I have a feeling there will be a 2D Mario at or near launch because they already made a few levels for the Wii U demo at E3 2011. I wouldn't be surprised to see them just make a full fledged game out of it. I'd get that and definitely Pikmin 3. I still want to see more from Killer Freaks, but it looks promising. I just hope it doesn't end up like Red Steel did for the Wii, I was not a fan of that game.

#54341 What launch titles will you pick up with your Wii U?

Posted by Tux on 14 January 2012 - 02:44 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Nintendo has had A LOT of of time for making F#)(/$ Pikmin 3, I hope it's a launch title or at least for early 2013.

Maybe we will get casual first party games, Wii Sports U, Wii Play U (o_o).
But the best of this is that third parties are finally making decent games, so we can expect better launch titles.

I'm guessing the Wii U will come with a Wii Play type game showing off what the console can do. The last couple consoles they've released have come with some sort of software to show off the systems strengths.

#54705 What should Nintendo name the Wii U usernames?

Posted by Tux on 15 January 2012 - 05:24 PM in Wii U Hardware

I NEVER would have guessed D:

And yes, deal, i won't take anyone else's usernames :)

No deal. I'm taking all the usernames! HAHAHA B)

How annoying would that be to have someone steal your name from here though?

#54337 What should Nintendo name the Wii U usernames?

Posted by Tux on 14 January 2012 - 02:28 PM in Wii U Hardware

Confirmed no friend codes for Wii U. It already happened

I already knew, should have phrased it better. I could care less what they call it because it doesn't have friend codes.

#54330 What should Nintendo name the Wii U usernames?

Posted by Tux on 14 January 2012 - 02:03 PM in Wii U Hardware

TBH, i don't really care, as long as its easy to use/understand :D

And doesn't have friend codes. B)

#54319 What should Nintendo name the Wii U usernames?

Posted by Tux on 14 January 2012 - 01:35 PM in Wii U Hardware

Ikr Friend Codes sounds ridiculous. Gamertags and IDs sound better or just simply U-sername. Ahh see what I did there
Wii U-sername

Makes sense, I can easily see that being it.

#84515 Wii U exclusive Zombie game announced!

Posted by Tux on 05 June 2012 - 12:36 PM in Wii U Hardware

Watch Dogs is a third party game and Beyond is a second party game as Quantic Dream is not owned by Sony. The only one of those three that is first party is The Last Of Us. Also Watch Dog is multiplatform and not exclusive to the PS3.

Watch Dogs was shown on PS3. It's been in development for two years already so I doubt it will come to Wii U. At the moment it's only for PC, PS3 and Xbox.

Guillemot said in an interview today it was on PC.

#57772 Wii U Launch This Holiday Season

Posted by Tux on 27 January 2012 - 01:48 AM in Wii U Hardware

Holiday season essentially means fall, so sometime after September. I've worked in retail and we generally hired the seasonal "holiday" employment in late September/ early October. I'm not saying that it's the same formula Nintendo classifies holiday as, but it makes sense.

I'd guess it will be sometime in October because they would be able to get a steady stream of purchases leading into the true holiday shopping season allowing for consistently high sales figures. Although if it ends up like the Wii did, it will be selling like mad for a year straight.

Misread title, so an edit is necessary.

Anyways back on topic. I really like Double Fine studios, they produce a lot of games which are just fun to play. My favorite game is probably Psychonauts and it's just an enjoyable game to play. It incredibly funny and actually makes you laugh. Valve is also a great developer. They always make sure to release a quality games, sometimes to the chagrin of fans. Team Fortress 2 is probably my favorite multiplayer game to play.

That is all.

#56489 What games would you like to see for Wii U on E3 2012?

Posted by Tux on 22 January 2012 - 06:15 PM in Wii U Games and Software

What I'd like to see: Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, Zelda, Pokemon, and Mario game teasers at E3 2012.

What what probably end up there: Pikmin 3, Miyamoto's new IP, HD Zelda, maybe Mario.

I don't think we'll see a Zelda because Skyward Sword was just released. I think they're going to focus on what will be coming out of the system relatively soon. Probably/hopefully Pikmin 3, a new IP, and perhaps a Mario or Metroid.

#55098 What games would you like to see for Wii U on E3 2012?

Posted by Tux on 16 January 2012 - 05:53 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'd say a Pikmin 3 demo or actual game footage, a trailer of a new IP or two, and a trailer of a new Mario/Zelda/Metroid because I'm sure one of those are in development. I think those would be reasonable options to see during E3. Obviously I'd like to see a good amount of third party demos/trailers as well.

#54562 Will Nintedo Grow Up!

Posted by Tux on 15 January 2012 - 11:09 AM in Wii U Hardware

Already grew, own 2 very successful business, so successful all I do from 8am-1pm is paperwork. After that it's back to Nintendo. I'm more of a visionary. Just think of a more adult alternative of nintendo's current games. The possibility of Mario stomping on a turtle and its guts come out instead of a shell. Still produce regular franchise games but give hardcore gamers a different alternative of the same game.

A visionary? Lol, why would anyone want to buy a realistic turtle stomping game? That would be an awful game. I can tell you right now, that isn't what hardcore gamers want. Anyways hardcore doesn't have to mean violent, which it seems like you're confusing it with. Metroid and Zelda are definitely "hardcore" games. Mario has mass appeal between both the casual and hardcore markets, but if you actually want to 100% a Mario game you're in for some tough level towards the end.

I do agree that they need to have more of a presence in the wooing the hardcore gamers back to their console, but the route you're suggesting won't do that. Just my opinion. They need to make new IPs or better work with the 3rd party publishers to make sure they have hardcore games coming out for the Wii U on a consistent basis. They seem to already be doing the latter and hopefully they are working on the former.

#54567 Will Nintedo Grow Up!

Posted by Tux on 15 January 2012 - 11:19 AM in Wii U Hardware

I'm not saying stop the games they already make, just maybe a mature upgrade for one or two franchise titles.

Having one Mario game where he crushes realistic turtles is one too many. It would sell poorly and quite honestly sounds like an awful game to me.
