You opened it up at the wrong side. Supposed to open it up with the little holes in the cardboard. That was hardly a review anyway.
It wasn't a review, it was an unboxing. Nintendo has embargoed all reviews on Wii U hardware until 12:01am PST on Sunday, November 18th. It's also why you won't see any visuals of the Wii U turned on from anyone other than Nintendo themselves until the first software update is released.
Looking forward to it! IGN always has good coverage of this kind of stuff (and they're usually first), but it's always awesome to see how gamers comment on the unboxing while they do it.
Hey guys - the confusion seems to be the black versus white unit. We've got a bunch of units floating around here at Eggplante, and our white ones have no protective tape, but the black ones all do. Our guess is that the black one smudges and scratches easier.
In any case, there is nothing to worry about. All the packages are unsealed, as is usually the case with Nintendo hardware, and there is only tape on the black units.
It seems like Nintendo is going cheap on as much as they reasonably can given the fact that they're losing money on the Wii U (the first time they're losing money on their hardware). Things like the trays in the box aren't colored and numbered like the Wii, there really should be tape on the white Wii Us if the black ones have it, etc. it's very interesting.
Like I've said before, if anyone feels like this is advertising and would like me to stop, I have no problem with it. I'm only letting you guys all know about posts that are relevant to you (Wii mini, and the contest). I'm also contributing to content on the forums, too
