#161139 Could Wii U be threatened by the 720 and Orbis?

Posted by Holyfire on 20 January 2013 - 02:26 PM in Wii U Hardware

Everyone knocks Nintendo cause everyone is just a tech-head. All the performance debates.... but no one thinks about either cost, software dev times etc.. The WiiU performace gap in my take, will be another Wii vs PS3/360 scenario. BUT.. how much more performance do we need? We have relished in some extravagant glorious content filled and beautiful games. The higher the graphics and game complexities, will be less noticable as u climb. Ud have to squint at ur TV pixels to notice the next res step up from 1080p.
Also in a first,Nintendo is selling their Highly conservative system at a loss. If thats how far they have to go to sell at a price ppl arent liking... wait till Sony + M'soft launch thier systems. With that kinda hardware plus no doubt new extreme peripherals for them. Either they will be unaffordable for the consumers, or the companies are gonna have to sell at self-destructive losses. Sony was lucky to survive with PS3. First 2 years literally billions under. Which brings another point. Sony are in a horrible position. Vita is being anhialated by 3DS. And PS4 may not sell at all. PS3 as mentioned only just barely made its success at the end of the gen. With everyone just buying PS3's now..... how long will it take to push their customer base onto PS4? And M'soft running Win 8 on their machine, hmm maybe open to hacks, cracks, n glitches... Will see.
Steam box wont compete with consoles, again, too tech orientated for the markets, requiring knowledge, upgrade requirments and a complex setup in the home to take advantage of... parents, children, and non-minded ppl wont follow with that. WiiU is selling better than its competitors in their equivalent 360/PS3 launch frames. And will have AAA first party games nigh on guaranteed. Got my WiiU and likely getting all the games. The market right now is at its most brutal... Nintendo has been holding out actually quite well.
