Where does it say Wii U hit 1 million sales in Japan?

The man is the reason we are all on this site, why people across the world can and do play games on whatever console. He really deserves a huge amount of credit and respect.

It's almost caught up to the 360's lifetime sales in Japan. Hooray!

I have just finished the first year of Film and Screen Studies at Bath Spa University. Got a 2/1 in all but one module in which I got a first!

Very much enjoying it so far, looking forward to the second year.

Some of the games are not yet confirmed for Wii U, Wii U support rests on Kickstarter Stretch goals (La Mulana 2) and Tadpole Treble failed to reach its Kickstarter stretch goal.

Other than that, Armikrog, 90s Racer and Scram Kitty look great.

This is gonna be so incredibly lame. At least it's an episode of Family Guy they're doing it to and not the Simpsons.

I think the main problem is that people do not want to spend £50 on a new game, it's too much.

Also, yeah, barely anywhere seems to actually stock Wii U games and such, perhaps it's just that GAME have the monopoly and can therefore charge whatever the hell they like.

We need to see the Wii U in supermarkets and the TV, otherwise average joe six-tooth will not really know it exists.

If they're saying any of this, they should realise there is at least some kind of demand.

Demand is made when you announce a game for any platform.

Moral of the story: Making games for a console creates the demand you strive for. Something developers never seem to realise...

On one hand, i hate EA for their absolute refusal to support nintendo console (the fact BF4 isn't coming to Wii U is a perfect example) I also know iGN is infamous for saying various stupid things. *sigh* gaming is so political these days. What the heck happened to HAVING FUN?

36 characters is not enough. The quote from Sakurai about the amount of characters actually reads as followed:

“It isn’t a matter of ‘if the next game has 50 characters, that’ll be enough.’ There is a certain charm to games that have huge casts of playable characters, but they tend to have issues with game balance and it becomes very difficult to fine-tune each character and have them all feel distinctive.

“In terms of quantity, we’ve probably already reached the limit of what’s feasible. I think a change of direction may be what’s needed.”

This suggests that if anything Sakurai is thinking of 50 characters, perhaps being the limit. The new game will have more characters than Brawl. At the very least, I think we will have the character roster of Brawl, with a few newcomers - the characters confirmed already seem to back this judgement up. Toon Link in particular, but Lucario's announcement yesterday made me think back to this quote of Sakurai:

“Whether it’s a minor character or a character that is one of the most highly skilled and most played, if that character is removed from the game, the people who live for that character in Smash Bros. are going to have their feelings hurt.”

Sakurai is very wary of getting rid of characters, mix that in with the quote above of 50 characters (I know slightly taken out of context), and I think we'll be seeing at least 45 characters in the new Smash Bros.

Let's wait and see if these sales can be maintained, 101 will see a smaller push, but a push nonetheless. The Wii U has just started its long journey into success. Hopefully.

It's a very valid reason, the earthquake slowed a lot up in Japan - I remember Nintendo saying something about it at the time.

Hopefully they can now successfully bring the Wii U in properly while maintaining 3DS numbers up as high as they have been.

I'm not sure what all of this means to me as someone who more casually uses Steam... Will I have to have Steam OS in order to play the latest games from Valve for example?

It's time. I called this back when I were a mere minor on this here site almost three years ago.

I liked the original, and am cautiously optimistic for this one. Trailer was OK, not great.
