#61023 Hello

Posted by Marc on 11 February 2012 - 09:21 AM in Introduction Central

Nice to see a member who has great trust in the Nintendo side of things..well done on making your entry into the handheld gaming with 3DS, hope you're enjoying it! Only gonna get better :)

Nintendo know how to stay in the game. I know, as much as I'm sure you do, that they have plenty of great ideas and plans for future. This forum is great to share expectations as well as worries, so hope you feel at home!

See you around :)

#60617 Nintendo grabs sizable booth for GDC show floor

Posted by Marc on 09 February 2012 - 09:40 AM in Wii U Hardware

They already added NFC, so it has changed. You are wrong. :(

Hold on though, a new change in the controller since that, which hasn't been officially announced yet. He wasn't suggesting that the controller hasn't or will not be changed, just that we aren't to expect an announcement on changes furthermore.

#60145 Nintendo grabs sizable booth for GDC show floor

Posted by Marc on 06 February 2012 - 06:23 PM in Wii U Hardware

They don't usually go unless they get a keynote speech. Last year Iwata had a keynote. This year a massive show floor space. The size alone means Wii U since they need space for TV's, they wouldn't need as much space for 3DS'. They rarely announce things at GDC, but they may have started a new trend for themselves last year. GDC isn't about consumers though, so I'm expecting Nintendo Network details, and some info on specs for the Wii U if anything's changedand whatnot. Developer stuff.

^^This. So wish I could be a developer!

#59831 Your favorite video game character?

Posted by Marc on 05 February 2012 - 11:37 AM in General Gaming

Easy, no one beats Conker.

Posted Image

He is funny, cruel, loves babes, loves alcohol and loves to kill teddybears. What else can you possibly want more?

Sounds like someone who needs help..ha! :)

#59775 What color/decoration would you want on your wii u?

Posted by Marc on 05 February 2012 - 03:39 AM in Wii U Hardware

Maybe you can get a plain white or plain black. Maybe a special Mario or Zelda addition.

Fill out this template for fun.

Wii U decoration.

System Color: Not sleek white/black, some originality please! (aka, SNES, N64)
System Decorations: Small but tasteful graphics like on the Zelda themed 3DS
Controller Color: Would be happy with a colour-coded controller, even white is fine.
Controller Decorations: Surely this would be distracting?....maybe a Samus sticker on the back :)

#58658 Lads and gals

You haven't played Doom, one of the most influential game in the FPS genre? Hehe, I remember when being a kid I played Doom I and II. Great fun. It was the first game ever I played on a pc, back in 1994 I think.

Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome everyone ;)

Nice to meet you dude! Sure we'll catch a chat some time, pretty sure we'd have much in common! Take it easy, hope you have a good time here :)

Starfox. Makes sense because it is a series that needs a new lease of life...I haven't read any of the above lol, but its what I know makes sense. Retro now feel like they'll sort out anything handed to them. Retro gooooood.

#58564 what you want from the wii u!?

Posted by Marc on 30 January 2012 - 01:14 AM in Wii U Hardware

A built-in sandwich maker.
A toaster.
A coffee machine.

Everything that would actually make sense in a videogame console.

Just my two cents...

You're asking just a little too much now? They would clearly cut costs and just implement a sandwich-toaster Win WIn.

#58461 what you want from the wii u!?

Posted by Marc on 29 January 2012 - 02:31 PM in Wii U Hardware

ok about the skype thing, fortunately ur probably wrong, here's why: do you own any apple products? ipod/iphone/mac computer? they can all get skype, and officially, not with illegal download. if apple can get skype, nintendo can get it.
secondly, nintendo competes with microsoft's gaming department, it has nothing to do with its computer software department, that department hardly cares about nintendo vs microsoft because each department is so disconnected (at least more so than you would think). i doubt there wont be a skype app on the wii u app store.

Microsoft would have had to have bought Skype under the condition that it keeps up mac support for Skype most likely. To start a brand new contract with Nintendo would be a completely different matter altogether.

#58451 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Marc on 29 January 2012 - 02:12 PM in Wii U Hardware

Remember Virtual Boy?......big,big,big LOSS:(

Taking a loss on something that has commercially failed doesn't really stand up to the mark in this debate. It is clearly all about the 'potential' price-cut soon after a console is released. This is to ultimately make a success out of its life-cycle when considered against its competitors in the market place. It is a strategy in hope of achieving long-term sales. If actual console sales rise much-farther beyond a point where it is deemed a 'successful' campaign, Nintendo are surely making a commercially successful product.

The 3DS is 'arguably' on the way to becoming a commercial success, but could also be considered 'on the fence' in regards to this. The DS had a similar story whilst still gathering global sales after its launch period thinned out, but since it ended up a massive success, we should all be confident that Nintendo know by now how to handle the launch of their own hardware. Whether at a point, a console is making a loss or not, yet is still sustaining momentum so to drive the product further into the market, Nintendo will still be making games + hardware for another 50 years.

#57179 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Marc on 25 January 2012 - 04:39 AM in Wii U Hardware

$300. Final. I wish nintendo was allowed to put a price for us europeans.

We really don't know at what base they will be imagining the 'real' price structure to surround. It could be the Yen, American Dollar, hell maybe even the Euro (but thats in crisis so probably not lol)...so all this guess-work will probably not pay off. We only have things local to compare with our assumptions. You cannot really compare the Wii U to anything here and now (unless you have any suggestions? And don't remind me on current consoles..they're dated for over 5 years) so discovering a price is tough. What I'm sure we would all agree on, with the right balance of quality and value for money is anything between £299 and £399..but even with that much, I am not confident I am correct at all.

"It is not going to be priced like Wii" Reggie? It will be a serious piece of kit. That can come at a high price, and especially since we always get premium prices in Europe, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to introduce it just over £400...god forbid >.<

#52762 Next Xbox And PS4 To Be Shown At 2012's E3

Posted by Marc on 09 January 2012 - 07:57 AM in General Gaming

Just figured you guys would like to read this...

http://www.nintendoe...wii-u-will-win/

It makes a very good point, and is good for having confident opinions on Nintendo's ideas. Regardless of who or what turns up at E3, I believe that unless bigger and better ideas evolve out of no where, Nintendo really has a winner already.

#51976 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Marc on 06 January 2012 - 04:51 AM in Wii U Hardware

Reggie has also said it is not going to priced like the Wii was, so one of his statements (which have both been said) is wrong. We will have to find out when we are told the official price :).

Here the source of my information: http://mynintendonew...igher-than-wii/

My source exactly :) This seems to be one of the biggest signifiers to a realistic price point O.o

#50905 Wii U Online Network Thread

Posted by Marc on 03 January 2012 - 05:21 AM in Wii U Hardware

They said it was supposed to be good I hope.

We hope too! That's the right sort of input man ;) I feel better knowing it will be good!

That would be a nice touch. It would really create a nice connected Nintendo Network of sorts. Although I currently don't have anybody on my 3DS friends list anyways. Posted Image

Nintendo have so many options in producing a totally badass online system, we are just blinded by what is currently working out there at the moment (PSN XBox Live). Using this as the 'standard' is shallow, there are possibilities beyond what I can fathom..am sure they will make good things happen, they have to! The Wii U is the biggest shift Nintendo have had to make against the competition(arguably besides the Wii). This idea you have means that a Nintendo Network is possible, not like just a brand community but what encompasses everything Nintendo. With the Wii U for the gamers 'taking the next step', that means it won't be aimed totally at family and available for everyone, it is tailored for the current time gamer. Networking will totally be online. I honestly can't wait to see how well they manage all this...

Nintendo said it would be flexible, but I doubt friend codes are going anywhere. What I would like to see though is a better eShop

When you say flexible, what do you mean? Like, offering different methods of play for different people? Or just highly accessible medium when the online is concerned?

Since were on the top of online...

What would you do if you have to pay for Wii U online?!

Personally, I switch over to PS3.

Naah, unless the network was shoddy, I wouldn't have an issue paying. At all.

#50899 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Marc on 03 January 2012 - 04:41 AM in Wii U Hardware

I think it is possible for the Wii U to be priced at $299.99. Reggie did say once that Wii U would be priced competitively with PS3 and 360. Plus, that is price that will surely lure more people in and allow Nintendo to keep Wii U at that price for 2-3 years.

Not for a launch price, I really can't see that happening. Competitively yeah, indeed! But that won't happen till no one buys it o_O

#49658 Memorable bugs you've encountered in games.

Posted by Marc on 29 December 2011 - 04:35 AM in General Gaming

Great topic! One of my favs were the crazy bugs on Goldeneye. I used to love abusing that game with a Gameloader Action Replay style cartridge
back in those days too :)
Best ones were the freaky heads that appear from time to time, but more commonly on Surface. There was some dude who wrote into N64 Mag and said that you had to run all the way to the opening of the bunker, try and open it so the 'ACCESS DENIED!' appeared and shoot it once with the Goldengun. Figured after a while that the golden gun wasn't necessary, but it did send a buggy group of 'Special Ops' from the Satellite building, some of the time with 4 faces mapped to each side of the head! As freaky deeky as that was, the 'blindfold' opps were the best! A whole group of blindfold headed guards is just the funniest! Another one maybe, was the green rocket that you can see poking out the end of your launcher when overloading the game with rockets/explosions..Surface again of course. I wonder if anyone else remembers more memory-overload based glitches from Surface?

#49334 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Marc on 27 December 2011 - 09:21 AM in Wii U Hardware

i agree they will definately not go over $400, no way, especially in this economic climate, i totally see it being $300-350. but i don't think theres even the slightest chance of a bundle without the tablet controller, its the main focus of the console and i think most games will use it, if not all. however i do think they should do bundles with and without wii mote and nunchuku.

Agreed. It is ALL about the tablet controller for innovation. The hardware will rock, it will def be affordable still, because they will need to sell A LOT of them at launch. Momentum (as has been explained before by Reggie himself) is essential in this business, so steady sales will need to be achieved very quickly. It will be a knock on effect I think when the Wii U launches, the 'BALLERS' (thanks Tron) will pick it up from launch, word of mouth about quality and its appeal will quickly spread into mainstream, and to the wider communities. There just has to be enough promise for features and what to expect before Xmas 2012 so that many more people will pick it up. Nintendo will have to learn a few new tricks mind, tactile pricing first...this old dog ain't dead yet!

#47236 What does it mean to you to be part of a community online, such as WiiUforums :)

Posted by Marc on 13 December 2011 - 08:49 AM in The Café

Nice one guys, appreciate your thoughts! Considering you don't even know me, I feel I can be comfortable allowing myself to be part of the community, no matter what my opinions are. If you're willing to be open, then I'm willing to be supportive. Awwh. Anyway, it isn't a surprise that many people are prejudiced for fan communities, and I just can't get my head around it. Am happy to stick around :)

One more note, I may quote what you say in any writing I do for my dissertation. I will of course message you directly for your consent, otherwise just let me know here. I am vey happy either way, as I can describe general feelings in writing, or direct quotes. If anyone would be interested more in my writing, give me a shout another time.

Would love to hear more comments from the rest of you! Thanks ^_^

#46882 Known facts

Posted by Marc on 11 December 2011 - 01:02 PM in Wii U Hardware

Yeah I know but I was going on the assumption that the controller mechanisms would be the same and vigil said that it took only a couple lines of code to stream video. I to an waiting on confirmation for alot of things but sorry for the rough edges. If you want me to find video I can

Coolies man. What you mean to say, is that considering that Wii used Bluetooth tech for the wiimote, that continuing tech may be similar..but we don't know the exact frequency /band they will use for Wii U? I am sure that there will be some tech info somewhere on the 'initial' Wii U tech, but considering Bluetooth 2.1 can arguably be seen as just 'sufficient' now and can hold up to 7 devices, may be just used again.
Bluetooth has changed since then, with a new release 3.0, and low energy tech, but the data rate is a little shoddy...however, it isn't much worse than 2.1 and may be tweaked so to allow for the correct data rate. We will just have wait and see...

#46838 Known facts

Posted by Marc on 11 December 2011 - 12:01 PM in Wii U Hardware

It should be the same type as with the regular wireless controllers but with some added code for video streaming

Some 'known facts' are probs needed here fella! Seems a little flakey round the edges that one D:
