#257003 Nintendo's biggest mistake with reviving Wii U

Posted by Foot on 19 November 2013 - 01:11 PM in Wii U Games and Software

People need to realize and open their eyes that Nintendo's audience is the family, may not be what you or people who play their games like to be considered because you may just be a gamer but Nintendo's biggest audience is families with small children, it makes no sense for Nintendo to make commercials to go after Sony and Microsoft's fan bases when they can get families much easier. To me, I don't see why Nintendo should push Ghosts being on the Wii U when the primary demographic that will buy that game already has an XBOX or is looking into a different next generation console.

Because that's what Nintendo wanted, they wanted the Hardcore market to comeback to them, in addition to their casual market. And I'm not saying it has to be Ghosts, that was just an example, I'm just saying they should showcase it for hardcore gamers.

#257001 Nintendo's biggest mistake with reviving Wii U

Posted by Foot on 19 November 2013 - 12:41 PM in Wii U Games and Software

They've messed up on something that they wanted to do from the beginning, bring back Third Party support and release themselves from their "Primary Casual" demographic. Unfortunately, sales prevented Wii U from reaching this potential and to revive this falling console, Nintendo may have jinxed themselves from being able to do this. This video will prove it.

Their showcasing it as a family-friendly console for the kids, rather than a console for all ages, with games to please the casual gamer, AND the hardcore gamer. Nintendo is missing out on this, so whether or not sales pick up, the majority of these new sales will just be kids, not adults who are planning to pick up the latest Call of Duty, or Assassin's Creed. If developers decides to publish Triple AAA blockbusters on Wii u later on these sales won't be much larger.

Here are some of the comments from the video showing fan response (Before Nintendo decides to disable ratings and comments for this video too!):

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

What they should be doing is providing commercials that showcase the wide appeal to any consumer. While I'm not saying use an entire marketing budget for Ghosts on Wii U, maybe include it in a commercial saying that you can play all types of games on Wii U.

So yeah, Nintendo has basically collapsed on its initial concept of what they wanted Wii U to be, an open demographic console, but because of these low sales, Nintendo had to resort themselves to the Wii casual market.

Nintendo is "Wii'ing" the Wii U.

Thoughts?

#257000 Nintendo doesn't appear to take criticism well...

Posted by Foot on 19 November 2013 - 12:21 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I've been noticing this a lot when Nintendo gets hate, primarily on YouTube. When they post a video, and it gets a large amount more likes than dislikes, and generally positive comments, the video keeps its ratings and comments open, however when a video gets hate, Nintendo decides to disable ratings and comments. I actually have a couple video links below where they've done this.

Wii U - "The Pitch" Commercial: Kids Edition

Wii U - "The Pitch" Commercial: Super Mario 3D World

Nintendo 2DS - Introduction
http://youtu.be/sAExBTWIp3M

These videos have had their ratings and comments before, however the comments of several viewers were more negative than positive, same goes for the dislikes over likes. Regarding the Wii U commercials I am making a separate topic about because it's a separate issue, however the 2DS was known to get hate at first, people calling it a joke, etc.

It seems that Nintendo likes to either
a. Hide their hate so that people don't join in and not buy their products
b. Nintendo doesn't like criticism. They don't listen to the voice of the people and like to do whatever Nintendo wants (which as I mentioned before I have a separate topic that ties in with that)

While Option A seems to make more sense, B also does as well. Think about it, Nintendo's entire way of operating doesn't seem to have any say from consumers.

Region Locking, something we've been begging for to get removed. Nintendo is stubborn and continues to implement it to the consumers dismay.

A proper online network. While Nintendo has been working on this, they've also messed up this process at the same time. Nintendo Network ID's are tied to a system, not the cloud. All your purchases are tied to your console, so if your console breaks or is stolen, you either won't get them back or have to go through an extrenuous process. Their still doing this by bringing Nintendo Network ID's to 3DS.

So yeah these are just some examples, and these are my thoughts, so what are yours?

#247108 GameStop manager gets fired after threaten to release a customer’s info.

Posted by Foot on 20 September 2013 - 03:10 AM in The Café

Wait, what exactly happened???

At the GTA V midnight launch this guy forgot his iD so she wouldn't release the game to him according to GameStop rules. He started to complain and something about she threatened to release his Personal Info.

I would take the her getting fired part with a grain of salt, it was just a random YouTube user who may or may not have worked with her. But you know, I gotta side with her EXCEPT for the fact that she threatened to release his info. That was just something f****d up on her part. But the fact that she wouldn't release the game to him I can understand cuz it's a GS rule

#246756 Apple overrated?

Posted by Foot on 18 September 2013 - 02:03 PM in The Café

They announce iPhone 5S and 5C, the successors to iPhone 5 and everyone knows about it, yet Nintendo releases Wii U, successor to Wii, and people still don't know what it is

I don't think the Graphical improvement is that much greater than IV from what I've seen. I have no doubt a Next Gen version and PC will follow

GTA San Andreas, keep in mind San Andreas was a STATE, not just a city

And GTA IV, which looks like 7-8 can fit inside the map

Unbelievable. I thought Liberty City in IV was huge, I'm gonna get lost in this game

#245147 GTA V most expensive game to make of all time

Posted by Foot on 09 September 2013 - 03:57 PM in General Gaming

That, and probably the cost of all the different activities that they let you do like tennis etc.
They're apparently meant to be fully fleshed out, not just a dodgy minigame.

The world, voice actors, Trying to get this Next Gen Scale game to run on current gen limited hardware, beer for the office, etc.

Actually, I think that I was right about it being $266 million with marketing. If we look at the rest of your quote.

"At $266 million, the fifth installment of the Rockstar game will have surpassed the estimated production budget (without marketing) for every hollywood blockbuster adjusted for inflation"

If I'm right the $266 million production and marketing budget for GTA V surpassed the estimated production budget for every hollywood blockbuster without marketing (The "without marketing" is referring to the films).

Shhhhh

#245130 GTA V most expensive game to make of all time

Posted by Foot on 09 September 2013 - 01:51 PM in General Gaming

And they're probably going to get that dough $$$
If GTA IV is anything to go by.

By the way the article states "the game's development and marketing budget cost £170 million (equivalent to $266 million)"
So wouldn't that be $266 million including marketing?

At $266 million, the fifth installment of the Rockstar game will have surpassed the estimated production budget (without marketing)

#245127 Apple Press Conference Thread (September 10, 2013)

Posted by Foot on 09 September 2013 - 01:26 PM in The Café

I don't understand how Apple is making a cheap iPhone, the so called "iPhone 5C" is rumored to retail for $299 no contract, but when the normal idiot consumers we have today see $199 for the better iPhone 5S, their gonna rush to get that. If I were Apple, I would re price 4S for Free, 5C for $99, and 5S for $199, all 2-year contracts.

I don't anticipate the new MacBook however, just the two iPhones and iOS 7 to be released 2mrw.

iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 I see happening in October, then iTV in November. I Watch next year at WWDC

Roughly $266 million, excluding marketing. More than double GTA IV's development costs.

Those Gangstas wanted that dough $$$

#244420 Amazing marketing idea for Wii U to fight off Next Gen this holiday and beyond

Posted by Foot on 05 September 2013 - 02:53 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Online Multiplayer

Xbox Live- $59.99 per year
PSN- $49.99 per year
Nintendo Network- Free per year :3

Next gen has switched to subscription based online multiplayer, Nintendo still remains free. That can attract more core gamers, despite how lacking their online infrastructure still is.

Just one of the aspects that Nintendo should focus on considering this opportunity.

#244373 Nintendo is Getting Closer to eShop on PC

I've given up on it.
They said it was coming like 3 years ago.

Beginning of 2012 if I remember correctly, so that's 5 years :P

#244372 I'm torn. Somebody help me! :(

if ur moving to Japan, I don't recommend getting this because its a US system and Wii U is region locked so you'd have to import all of your games

#243911 Sony to unviel virtual reality tech for ps4.

Posted by Foot on 03 September 2013 - 12:01 PM in General Gaming

Honestly, I don't think now's the time for VR, I have a theory on the gen trend of the main appeal to gamers

7th Gen: Motion Control, Online Gaming
8th Gen: Embraced Social Interactivity, Second Screen Gameplay
9th Gen: Virtual Reality, idk what else

This is just what I'm predicting, I don't think VR appeals to gamers right now

#243754 Déjà Vu: Seeing things in your dreams that happen in the future?

Posted by Foot on 02 September 2013 - 07:07 PM in The Café

Nah, bunch of balloni on a stick with rabies. Just coincidence. When you dream your body goes in a state of paralysis, there's 4 stages of sleeping, 1 of which involves deep dreams, these are just the brain making connections around certain parts of your brain to create an image, sound and touch fantasy. This is REM sleep. There's nothing about some weird future prediction, just your brain acting out a day in your fantasy world.
Also Nightmares are just their to conquer your fears of real life.

I want to hire someone...to kick you :P

#243747 Déjà Vu: Seeing things in your dreams that happen in the future?

Posted by Foot on 02 September 2013 - 06:21 PM in The Café

Alright this has been happening to me alot, Whiskers would know because it happened as I was reading his status thing.

Most people I know have had this happen to them, but I just want opinions and beliefs on this from other people. Basically, seeing things in your dreams (like sleeping) and then it goes on to happen in the future.

So the quickest moment when I've encountered this is literally when I woke up and what happened in the dream happened, and the latest is always 2-4 days from that dream.

It's scary isn't it? Like when you realize it you'd want some of the good things to happen but, then you can also have realistic nightmares so...

Oh and I tried searching for a similar topic just Incase, but ever since that server change, it's been really screwed up.
