I just hope an increased install base will encourage more third party developers to port over some of their games to the Wii U.
It won't. Third-party games still sell like crap on Wii U.

Dissapointed. Like i am withh 99.99% of the garbage that passes for gaming today, and how publishers have conditioned them into not just accepting, but pavlovically conditioned to actually crave this insipid worthless garbage over actually playing real worthwhile games.
http://m.neogaf.com/...ad.php?t=736867
Omg, is this for real? I'm bursting into laughter right now and it's not even funny.
But seriously, wtf? I agree with stuff like the Other M cinematic compilation, but "Watch the rest of the story"? Really? If you don't want to play the game anymore it's probably because it sucks and is boring as hell. Wii the story, you shouldn't even buy the game in the first place if all you wanted was to watch a movie.
Jeez, no wonder why cod sells so much. This industry is full of these guys.

I don't think that Iwata should be fired, just change its mentality and embrace that the industry has changed and that the consumer has new needs. And honestly, I understand the guy. He did his best with the Wii U, but it wasn't enough. So I feel sorry for him.
I think that he finally understood that the casual audience that bought 30 million units of New Super Mario Bros. Wii was long gone when we launched New Super Mario Bros. U and it didn't sell nearly as much. His plan was good, sell their best selling franchise at launch and we'll have a healthy system, and then third parties will continues to support us. But he failed to realize that the causal crowd was long gone and already satisfied with iOS and Android. Then everything started to collapse.
Combine that with confusing marketing and no kind of direction and you have what we have today, the Wii U.
It's really a shame that this joke will cost his job. He's a good man. He's the one who launched Nintendo into its second golden age, but he sadly he wont have a happy ending in the company.
I guess the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Zeldo isn't above any other franchise. It barely sells as it is, and is losing fans with every new version.
Ok. Would you like a cookie now, with Zeldo written all over it?

Sure, but I think that the main problems with the GamePad are
* the lack of capacitive multitouch, analog triggers and a good battery (although a good one can separately)
* questionable design (in terms of how it looks)
* and the fact that the power button is almost useless to the point that you can't even turn off the screen when you're not using it (the Home Menu thing is impractical for Netflix and YouTube for example, which is a software issue)

I don't get this idea.
Nintendo announced Zeldou like 3 years ago, they've just not shown anything from it.
Why would showing something from it be above a videogame show?
If anything it'd make the show worth watching, and get the dudebros to see that Nintendo can make a zeldo that just might appeal to them.
It's one of those franchises that just can't be throw out anywhere, especially in this utter crap of a show. Its unveil should be as epic as the game. See the 2004 reveal of Twilight Princess to see what I mean.

Honestly, I would hate if Nintendo announced Zelda U in such a mediocre show. I much prefer E3 and Directs thank you. At least those shows don't have fake applause tracks in the background.

If Reggie were to make a DK live demo it would be right before the DKWC, which is not the case. And it wouldn't make much sense anyway since he already did one roughly two weeks ago.
Anyways, considering the target audience it's probably Smash, wich is good if they announce new fighters and stages. A Zelda live demo is out of question though.

Well that's what I hope and there's lots of evidence. I expect a teaser, not an announcement.
A new look means that the game has been show before, which is not the case. Sorry.

This is 2019, not 2013....Average PCs will be able to do 4k easily.
However I have a new conspiracy!
The DS (through all its regenerations) had a shelf life of 7 years before it was replaced by the 3DS which means in 2011 it will be 2018 before I see the next gen handheld. Nintendo home consoles have an average life of 5 years (Wii being the exception), and in 5 years it will be 2018. Nintendo have recently merged their handheld and home console departments.
AND with mobile devices soon to surpass the PS4 and XBO in power in 5 to 7 years time - and with mobile devices being able to already doc into your TV I hypothesise that Nintendo will only come out with a handheld system capable of both being an exceptional handheld gaming device rivaling the mobile market, BUT an adequate home console more than capable of rivaling the PS4 and XBO. The only thing is that I'm not sure of is the power, it'll be relatively cheap, but by today's standards it will be far more powerful than one could imagine having in a handheld device in 2013.
I'm hoping for a 2k system that can upscale to 4k, or that Nintendo can push the hardware to run in 4k but third parties would struggle to do due to the market for 4kTVs being increasingly popular by 2018. But more likely it'll only be a 1080p 60fps machine that everyone will laugh at for being under-powered. With everyone saying "Hello, and Welcome to 2013" even though it'll clearly use AMD GPUs invented in 2015/2016 miniaturised and modified to add extra oomf and use less power, of course it will use a modified multi-core espresso CPU
Why would Nintendo try compete with 5 year old systems?

Do ports count? cause I'm pretty sure some ports made money
Probably enough to break even and give a little bit of profit.
One thing that is completely unforgettable is the fact that Ubisoft won't make a second Zombi U because the first one was "not even close" to turning a profit. It's their fault that the game was in development for 4 years and roughly suffered 3 reboots or something. Selling 500.000 units as a launch title is pretty successful imo. What were they expecting, 3 million?

I am in shock that stores such as GameStop have the worst display screens with the worst settings on them to display and try and sell consoles. At my local store the PS4 games looked Worse than the Wii U games and they didn't look great themseves. I happen to have a 55in Sony TV and everrything looks better on it than the pad.
Retailers... what can you do?

My local electronics retailer, which is full of geniuses btw, set the TV sharpness to 100 (max) on official Nintendo demo units. It's atrocious to even glace at the TV. Everything is so sharp and aliased (even NSMB U), but it does stand out the quality of the GamePad. It's probably the same situation your having.

Seriously? I'm quite happy to have a Wii U and PS4. I can't see any good reason right now to have an Xbox One though, just not interested in the exclusives.
Sure I still feel I was ripped off at launch price for the Premium, but I do not regret owning one. Even Eurogamer had an article suggesting that the Wii U is the next-gen console to buy this holiday. I'm not sure I agree if I had to choose, but I don't think its doom and gloom for Nintendo either. Although it is pretty embarrassing that the PS4 sold more consoles over the weekend than the Wii U did in a whole year, in the UK. But Nintendo hasn't been about quantity for years now, its about quality and profitability - things Nintendo excel it.
Who really cares if the Wii U never sells that well, as long as Nintendo and any developers who support the platform are able to make a profit? There is too much focus on the wrong side of the numbers. For all their popularity, Sony and Microsoft continue to lose a ton of money on their console businesses and Nintendo has not. So who exactly is a winner there?
Aside from Nintendo Land, NSMB U and Nintendo eShop games, I doubt any game made a profit yet.

Thats fine and dandy, but not what you said. You said 'He is not wrong'. When youve made it very clear in just this post, you think he is very, very, wrong. You simply agreed with a blurb taken out of context. Again, I bring up my point. Dont blindly agree with people if you never bothered to find out what you are agreeing with. The entire podcast is nothing short of self serving pr for his mobile games company. Disgusting shilling at its most blatant.
Although, I do strongly disagree with your actual intended statement.
The WII U may be on a path to gamecube-esque irrelevence, but that is very, VERY different from nintendo being on a path to irrellevance. If Nintendo was on a path to irrelevance, they wouldnt be constantly besieged and attacked, and constantly have every move watched with an eagle eye. Thats what a company does to something they are frightened of, not one that is becoming irrelevant.
I'll keep that for future reference, thank you. It's true that I never bothered to read his entire statements, but I trust what you say is true and honestly, I would expect nothing else from the man that destroyed THQ.
About Nintendo though, sure, it'll will always be "relevant" dead or alive, since it's the only company in the industry that people actually care about. Proof of that is the fact that the when the 3DS wasn't selling a dime it was covered by every news site, yet when the Vita turns into the same situation, nobody notices. The difference? People care about Nintendo. And like I said, Nintendo will always be relevant, but I much prefer a relevant health company rather than one struggling to sell their own products (I'm talking about the Wii U here; the handheld market shrinked but it's still a big one ,and the 3DS is doing well). It all depends on what you want them to be relevant for.

You should really, REALLY make sure you know what someone has said before professing you agree with them.
What you think he is saying, what you think you are agreeing with, based off of two snippets of his propaggand packed bs is very, VERY different than what this ceo of a mobile games company actually said.
He is very, VERY wrong, unluss you want the future of videogames to be mobile.
But if you actually WANT games the likes of snood to replace the likes of Zelda... Then by all means...
I'm sorry if I failed you, your majesty.
I don't care what his intentions are, nor do I want to replace Zelda with anything. I simply agreed that Nintendo is on the path to irelevance. If you don't agree with that, good.
By next gen, mobile as we know it will be dead anyway, the internet will take over all communication services, so Nintendo making a "phone" won't be that hard. The real challenge will be their ability to compete and, above all, innovate.

Home consoles, yes. Handhelds, a little far form it.
It's true that he completely sunk THQ, but that doesn't mean that he's wrong about this. This generation is most likely lost in terms of the home console business and the handheld business is now only half of what it was last generation.
Nintendo is on the path to irrelevance. It doesn't mean that they're irrelevant now, just walking that way. One thing that I agree though, is that they really are a worldwide treasure.
All they have to do now is continue business as usual this generation (not much can be done about the Wii U now), and reinvent themselves in the next one.
