#258598 Help pls: HDD acting strangely

Posted by Arkhandar on 02 December 2013 - 10:24 AM in Wii U Hardware

To be honest, I just didn't want an extra external device with cables etc. I had no trouble using older USB Sticks and when I tried to connect two of my HDD's all I got was trouble.

Remember that it's not advised to use USB sticks as Wii U memory. Unlike HDDs, t'll wear out quickly.

#258597 What do you expect from Nintendo in 2020?

Posted by Arkhandar on 02 December 2013 - 10:23 AM in Wii U Hardware

I'm fine with 1080p, as long as my TV doesn't go beyond 52 inches. 4K in homes is superfluous imo

#258494 What do you expect from Nintendo in 2020?

Posted by Arkhandar on 01 December 2013 - 03:16 PM in Wii U Hardware

Without reading anyone else's posts I expect there to be a Wii Fusion console which is basically a supped up DS between 2017 and 2019. Which acts both as a home console AND handheld which you can use the Wii U gamepad and Wii remotes when playing on the television. No longer will Nintendo have a separate console. However it better be 4k. Or at least 2k to upscale to 4k. Because by 2019 4k TVs will be much cheaper roughly over 30-40% of the population will at least own a 2k to 4k television

Oh god, please no. I like my handheld consoles the way they are.

Something tells me they'll abandon the DS and Wii lines next-gen. But if they don't, don't be surprised to see a Wii Q or a UDS.

#258302 Will TVii ever come to Europe?

Posted by Arkhandar on 29 November 2013 - 05:27 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Forget it. If the console continues selling like the past 8 months in Europe, TVii is as good as dead.

Hopefully things can be worked out in the EU to make TVii worthwhile, really I don't use the service all that much however I have been playing with it more recently. It's useful if you utilize streaming services along side your cable. Searching is nice and the app itself does contain some nice features to make consuming media more streamlined.

One thing that I never understood well about TVii was, when you select "watch on Netflix" for example, do you need to close a suspended game or does it play the show/movie without closing it?

Daycare center is probably the most scary areas in all of games, in my opinion... just because it's a daycare.

I didn't like it (too much cliché), aside from the basement section. The bunker was way more scarier imo.

A cloud tablet.

Named "ThunderStorm"? Or maybe "fork, I'm all wet!"

If Iwata's still there, he will probably try to acquire Namco Bandai (again, like back in 2003) to expand Nintendo's IPs to the entertainment and merchandise market. Imagine instead of the Bandai Channel, having an high quality Nintendo Channel worldwide, with beautifully crafted animated series and other shows. Making already strong IPs even stronger.

Nintendo education tablets and audio guides for museums should also be mainstream by then. It's a great marketing strategy to cater new costumer, especially in the educational scene.

As for gaming, business as usual I suppose. Nintendo wants two consoles, so they'll have two consoles (which is a good thing). But I image that by then, we will have the same look for handhelds and home console: same OS, shared accounts, shared Virtual Console, video chat to Nintendo consoles and smart devices, and all of that. Maybe a Nintendo TVii box, you never know.

There's so much room to expand even further, the sky's the limit. Leave luck to heaven. ;)

Just don't get your hopes disproportionately up. If something notable does get announced, you'll be more surprised. Win win.

#257844 Why do you think 3d world only runs in 720p upscaled to 1080p?

Posted by Arkhandar on 25 November 2013 - 06:06 AM in Wii U Hardware

Im not really sure, all I really remember sakarai talking about was how different they were going to be, the 3ds one would feature levels and themes from nintendos handheld series, while wii u got its level and stuff from console games.

Sukarai said there would be no cross-play, but you can transfer you character settings between games.

Looks sweet doesnt it! I wish Nintendo could see it and it could give them some ideas for there next gen console, because Wii U, PS4 and Xbox one are now current gen!

Me too, and so does my mother. She even thinks that Wii U is a "happy" name. Signs of a turning point on consumer awareness? :P

A new GameCube that is small, compact, but god damn powerful!

Welcome to the world of GameCube 2!

Isn't the Wii U the new GameCube? *pun intended*

#257613 VGX Awards: Nintendo may be appearing

Well, Monolith soft did just change their websites banner to a massive X one.

I can't wait for their next game. But hasn't that been up for a while now?

??????????????????????????????/

Yes, I'm pretty sure Aonuma's just bluffing. Either that or he only wanted to show a piece of artwork, and ultimately kill off all the hype by not showing the game for two years.

#257589 VGX Awards: Nintendo may be appearing

Posted by Arkhandar on 23 November 2013 - 09:47 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I don't see why we shouldn't get hyped considering Aonuma said a few times he was considering showing Zelda U off at a comic con.

You do realize that that was just a stopgap to keep people hyped, don't you? There never was anything to be shown really, just hype.

#257477 What do you expect from Nintendo in 2020?

Posted by Arkhandar on 22 November 2013 - 03:02 PM in Wii U Hardware

Why does everyone say this? The Wii was the only console to on par with a previous gen.

The NES was great for it's generation.

The SNES wasn't lacking anything.

The N64 was actually the most powerful of it's generation.

The GameCube had kick ass graphics.

And the Wii U... The crappy ports it's been getting don't show anything it can do. Give it more time before you say it's on par with the last gen. I'm sure first party titles in the future will show it's a next gen console.

The Wii was actually 2-3 times more powerful than the GameCube, which was the most powerful sytem that generation. So, not exactly on par.

#257161 Nintendo to use Android OS?!
Nando Monterazo ‏@NandoMonterazo 1m
Amazing how the internet is dangerous, in my excitement I released information that should not, Now I'm out of the project who liked!

Looks like it was real.

I'd imagine they don't use android for 3ds and wii u because this is a result from them trying to merge their handheld and console r&d effort after the wii u was launched.
I fully expect a tablet next gen from Nintendo.

this board... jesus christ

I'm almost sure that there's something wrong with this. Either he was lying, or he's just too valuable to fire.

It's called Research & Development. It's usually done when someone wants to test an idea.

#257017 wii u sale increase ?

Posted by Arkhandar on 19 November 2013 - 02:31 PM in Wii U Hardware

Do you realize how badly you'd be laughed at and knocked down for saying anything even remotely like that back in 2011 and early 2012? Everyone thought that the Vita was going to just absolutely destroy the 3DS in every sense. I had a 3DS back then and it's outlook was a whole lot like the Wii U's current one. There were big games on the horizon but they just hadn't arrived yet. The Wii U's competition right now is hype, and there is no way ANY system can compete against hype. The 3DS couldn't and the Wii U certainly can't.

If you really want to compare all three systems, then wait until the holidays are over and the hype factor has been dialed down a notch. Wait until all three systems have to stand on their own merits and games, instead of expectations and that new system shininess. I hear a lot of people talk about the next-gen consoles and their specs yet what I hear very little of, especially in a positive light, is the software.

I said it became irrelevant by the time it arrived. Yes, it initially sold well, but launch numbers will always be launch numbers. They mean nothing in the long run. Mediocre games ultimately killed it. The market simply didn't want a more expensive PSP.

The 3DS could and did compete with the pre-release Vita hype, otherwise its sales would still be abismal. You usually do that with good games.

#256826 wii u sale increase ?

Posted by Arkhandar on 18 November 2013 - 09:37 AM in Wii U Hardware

Depends upon what you consider competition when the 3DS was entering market... yes the Vita is a handheld competitor but at the same time you had the emerging mobile market and the 3DS is still able to carve out it's own path and do well.

Exactly. By the time the Vita arrived it was already irrelevant, and smartphones were never really an issue with the 3DS, despite what analysts and journalists say. Unless you're trying to replicate DS numbers rather than GBA numbers. The only reason the 3DS will never sell as much as the DS did is not because gamers have smartphones now, it's because casuals who bought the system to play Brain Age already have those kinds of experiences on smartphones.

Believe me when I say this, the Wii U is not in the same situation as the 3DS once was. The 3DS had no competition whatsoever on that critical 2011 holiday season. The Wii U however, will have, and boy it's a strong one. Ironically, the 3DS won't be the one deeply affected by smartphones and tablets. If a system is going to suffer from the loss of the casual crowd it'll be the Wii U.
