#243265 Will be new to the wiiu family

Posted by SDDMN on 31 August 2013 - 09:48 AM in Wii U Hardware

Hey Rigg, welcome to the Wii U family! If you like fighting games, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U edition is definitely a game for your needs. I would also suggest Injustice Gods among us, but I haven't played that for myself yet, so you'll have to get the opinion of someone who has played it.

#242728 Swaggle me eyes! possible good news (AKA Platinum 2nd party and W101 sequel)

Posted by SDDMN on 29 August 2013 - 02:43 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Platinum Games designer Hideki Kamiya has confessed to IGN that he would love to see the acclaimed studio become a second-party Nintendo developer

Kamiya's known to troll though, so he might not actually mean he wants Platinum to be a second party dev for Nintendo and just wants to make a little noise in the gaming community.

#242055 How Nabbit and the GamePad helped a little girl enjoy gaming with her family.

Posted by SDDMN on 27 August 2013 - 05:10 PM in General Gaming

Jennifer is a very young girl that is nearly blind. While she had a great interest in joining her family while they played video games, her vision issues held her back. She has to sit very, very close to the screen to see what's going on. Even when doing that, it was still hard for her to see and she would end up blocking the TV view for others.

That has all changed now, thanks to New Super Luigi U and the Wii U. Now Jennifer can play via GamePad and keep the image very close to her eyes. On top of that, Nabbit is impervious to most damage (minus falls), so Jennifer can play along and keep in the action alongside her family.

You know, I've had a pretty crappy day today, and reading things like this makes my day brighter.  :)

#241558 Wii U Summer/Fall Update

Posted by SDDMN on 25 August 2013 - 05:19 PM in Wii U Hardware

I expect the summer/fall Wii U update, that's pretty much it. I don't expect Nintendo to make N64/GBA games available on VC, and I don't expect there to be unified accounts like almost everyone's been wanting(I can understand why, but eh). Nothing but an update that makes the Wii U OS load faster.

#241037 Here's some info on the changes made to Wind Waker HD

Posted by SDDMN on 22 August 2013 - 11:47 AM in Wii U Games and Software

- Triforce quest – the five Triforce pieces can now be grabbed directly
- Only the remaining three require translated charts instead of eight
- Hero Mode available from the start
- Picto Box has been upgraded
- Upgraded camera could still be used to snap photos of unsuspecting villagers or enemies
- Pictures can go up on Miiverse
- Link can also take funny self-photographs
- Switch between happy, sad, and surprised emotions
- Get the Swift Sail at the auction house after completion of the first dungeon
- No alert via an in-game prompt to signal the special sails availability
- No longer possible to accidentally skip Tingle’s island, as the developers have inserted an introduction to the quirky character into the main quest
- Enhanced first-person camera
- Can now have full movement in that perspective
- Can travel through hallways and shoot arrows like you’re in a FPS

So, like it? Hate it?

I like the changes, especially since Hero Mode's available from the moment you start the game. The only change I don't like is I can't accidentily skip Tingle's Island anymore. (not sure what they mean by accidentally but I don't want anything to do with Tingle that's  not him deciphering the three Triforce maps.)

#240980 Twitch Confirmed for PlayStation 4

Posted by SDDMN on 22 August 2013 - 06:08 AM in General Gaming

Yeah, I'm thankful Twitch can finally be streamed through the Wii U web browser, now I can catch the streams I like to watch even when I'm not on the computer.

#240862 Hardest Boss in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team?

Posted by SDDMN on 21 August 2013 - 06:40 PM in General Gaming

Yeah so far the battle with the giant volcano was the hardest boss for me to get passed. Whether that will remain true when I fight the FINAL boss remains to be seen.

#240600 Gamescom 2013 Nintendo Thread

Posted by SDDMN on 20 August 2013 - 05:00 PM in Wii U Games and Software

They should get a twitch app, like everyone else.

It was brought to my attention on twitch that the new broadcast standards allow for streams to play in the wii u's browser.
Still a native app would be nice.
Can't search or log in through the browser.

Nice! I tried it out for myself, and everything but chat works fine! Thank you Twitch!

#240327 12 year old attacked by bear

Posted by SDDMN on 19 August 2013 - 03:15 PM in The Café

Well, at least she's alive and recovering, which is a good thing. The only bad thing about that is she'll most likely have nightmares about the whole incident

#240129 What Do you Guys Think of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team?

Posted by SDDMN on 18 August 2013 - 04:15 PM in General Gaming

I love the game, it's the best Mario and Luigi game I've played since Superstar Saga. The only thing I find annoying is how easily I can mess up some Bros attacks by not moving the gyro sensor correctly, and for that I'm very thankful there's a way I can practice using the attacks.

#238113 Wonderful 101 direct thread

Posted by SDDMN on 09 August 2013 - 05:30 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I played the demo, and when it comes to the right analog stick, it's actually very easy to make whatever you want at that point. The whip and hammer were very easy to make.

#237139 What did you use to believe when you were a kid?

Posted by SDDMN on 04 August 2013 - 09:57 PM in The Café

I used to believe coyotes were bloodthirsty monsters and actively went out hunting human beings. My cousin and uncle told me stories (fake stories not that I knew back then >.>) about people who would get torn apart by coyotes at night when they were alone.

#236622 Unreleased Virtual Console games you would like to see?

Posted by SDDMN on 02 August 2013 - 10:00 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I really want to get Mystical Ninja starring Goemon for the N64 on VC. I was waiting for it all those years, and Konami never made the plunge on the Wii VC. :(

I'd also like to see Turtles in Time and TMNT Tournament Fighters, but I know those two will need a LOT of legal work to get on the VC.

#236523 What is your favorite cartoon intro?

Posted by SDDMN on 01 August 2013 - 08:36 PM in The Café

There are a lot of cartoon intros I like, but the one that sticks to my mind the most and is my favorite?

The opening to the 1987 Ninja Turtles cartoon. I'll never forget it.

#236437 Breath of Fire VI is coming...

Posted by SDDMN on 01 August 2013 - 03:06 PM in General Gaming

to phones, tablets, and browsers. It's an online touch RPG. A LOT of BoF fans are very upset with this news...

But hey, at least Wii U owners are getting BoF2 on VC.

#235598 Any Final Fantasy Fans Here?

#235448 New Zelda U Rumours

Posted by SDDMN on 27 July 2013 - 07:39 PM in Wii U Games and Software

As much as I hope it's true, I'll wait for confirmation from Aonuma or someone at Nintendo. Holy crap though, if that is true, it sounds like the next Zelda will be beyond awesome.

#234984 Shadow of the Eternals Kickstarter Relaunched

Posted by SDDMN on 26 July 2013 - 07:36 AM in General Gaming

As an extra incentive, they're adding a stretch goal for the PS4, so Sony fans can put money towards reaching that if they want to.

#234797 The Next Super Smash Bros. Won't Have a Story Mode or Cutscenes

Posted by SDDMN on 25 July 2013 - 12:03 PM in Wii U Games and Software

If I had to choose between Melee's Adventure mode, and Brawl's Subspace Emissary, I'd choose Adventure mode any day of the week. As fun as SSE was, I enjoyed Adventure mode much more. I remember how much fun I had defeating all 5 Links in the hyrule dungeon, or trying not to get run over and KO'd by the F-Zero racers on Big Blue, before finally taking on Bowser (or Giga Bowser if I didn't continue on normal)..

#233967 Detroit has filed for municipal bankruptcy

Posted by SDDMN on 22 July 2013 - 12:07 PM in The Café

Well it seems Detroit won't be getting bailed out by the government:

http://www.cbc.ca/ne...ve.html?cmp=rss

it would be hard to get any federal aid package past House Republicans, "who I just can't imagine have any interest in doing anything for Detroit." The city is heavily Democratic.

I'm pretty sure republicans are willing to help out a city whether its democratic or republican rather than let it rot. But who knows, I could end up being wrong.

#233964 You know that Megaman anniversary news Capcom had for fans at Comic Con?

Posted by SDDMN on 22 July 2013 - 11:59 AM in General Gaming

The news was the release of the Game Boy Megaman games on the eshop.

I’ve seen some of the reactions (Twitter, FB etc) to our lack of MM news at the SDCC panel, and wanted to explain/clarify the issue.

The panel description says we would have “information about Mega Man’s 25th anniversary.” That news was the classic Game Boy games coming to 3DS soon – so why not in the panel? Because I wanted to space that news and the Strider reveal a few hours apart, so the MM information had time to spread and not be overshadowed by a shiny new Strider game (which was trending worldwide =D).

I think getting it out earlier in the day let that information have its moment in the sun, and not bunched up alongside everything else in the panel. We did contact SDCC earlier in the week to update the panel description, but I’m sure they have one hundred billion emails and requests to sift through, and ours possibly got lost in the shuffle. A bit of confusion for which I apologize.

I also understand everyone’s awaiting news of something bigger, but we don’t have anything to share at this time.

All that said, we’ve prepared lots of MM activity at the SDCC booth. The statues (life size and 10”), the inflatable buster, the metal pin and more are all here and flying off the shelves. I’ve seen a lot of MM cosplay and already chatted with several fans, so the vibe is strong and I hope to see it continue throughout the year.

Really, the GB games are only good news for the Megaman fans who have never played them before, or have played and enjoyed them.

#233318 Have you ever felt the need for a dating sim game made by Namco Bandai?

Posted by SDDMN on 19 July 2013 - 07:42 PM in General Gaming

Get interested, it'll exist before Holiday 2013.

Namco Bandai are working on a browser-based dating-sim featuring their characters, titled Namco High. The game takes place in a high school meant specifically for videogame characters and is being spearheaded by Homestuck creator Andrew Hussie.

Namco High is being developed in collaboration with What Pumpkin Studios under the supervision of Namco Bandai’s Shifty Look project. The game is being developed using HTML5 and will run in the browser of multiple devices.

Namco High will be released pre-Holiday 2013.

#233291 Soul Calibur 2 HD Online coming to PS3 and 360

Posted by SDDMN on 19 July 2013 - 05:10 PM in General Gaming

Soulcalibur 2 is coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as an HD Remaster. Titled Soulcalibur 2 HD Online, the game is slated for release this fall on Xbox Live and PSN.

During Namco Bandai’s panel at Comic-Con, where they announced the game, Namco also showed that Heihachi from Tekken will be in the game.

Originally, Heihachi was only in the PlayStation 2 version of SoulCalibur 2, while the Gamecube got Link from The Legend of Zelda and the Xbox got Todd McFarlane’s Spawn.

While good news for Soul Calibur fans, those who enjoyed the GCN version won't be getting a Wii U version, and no Wii U version means no playing online as Link.
