#89442 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

Posted by Deadly Virus on 22 June 2012 - 01:46 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Namco working on SSB4 offers a couple less obvious IPs to draw characters from...

Posted Image

Bandai created Digimon, and so Namco-Bandai as a whole has access to the IP now. We could see characters like Agumon, Guilmon, etc make an appearance in SSB4 if we're lucky. Maybe this will be the game to finally settle the Pokemon vs Digimon debates of the 90s. :P

Namco-Bandai owns the Dragonball video game rights. And honestly, who wouldn't want to see Goku and Vegeta duking it out with Mario and Link? This could very well happen IMO, DBZ characters would fit right in with an SSB game. ^_^

#88444 Wii U Wishlist

Posted by Deadly Virus on 18 June 2012 - 12:19 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Might seem random, but I've been playing a lot of Dungeon Defenders on my PC recently, and I'd REALLY love it if it came to Wii U. It's already on PS3, Vita and 360 if I remember correctly, and it'd fit just perfectly on the eShop. The gamepad screen could be used for a constant display of the map and access to all your spells and such, and being able to view your and other players' stats on the go. Hell, I'd rebuy the game if it came to the Wii U, that's how good it'd be! :D

So glad I managed to snag this on day one... No numbers necessary. :o

#131920 Wii U's RAM is slower than PS3/Xbox 360.

Nintendo really cheaped out on this hardware IMO... Seems that the more I hear about it, the more disappointed I get. -_-

#92805 Wii U CPU confirmed (by respected game producer) As weak.

Posted by Deadly Virus on 10 July 2012 - 06:25 AM in Wii U Hardware

I'm still very confused about all this. It wasn't too long ago that we were hearing rumours that suggested that the Wii U had a great processor but weak in other regards. Now it's the opposite? Can people make up their minds here? -_-

#88016 So, Uh- I think I might want a PS4? [Wii U Hardware stuff]

Posted by Deadly Virus on 16 June 2012 - 03:53 AM in Wii U Hardware

Apple just wouldn't be a good fit for the console market as their primary goal has always been to make money. We've seen the same from Microsoft and how they charge ridiculous amounts for XBL, which has no real reason to not be free, and then also go and plaster ads everywhere even in addition to that. Plus there's the fact that the RROD issue which has been known since the 360's launch is still suspiciously present even in the recently released Slim models..

Nintendo and Sega were always the best console manufacturers because, yes, while they are businesses and ultimately sell their products to make a profit, they also have very strong histories in the video game industry and recognise the need to provide a quality product above all. Microsoft and Apple have no such history, and so when they look at video games in general they don't ask "What can we do to innovate and provide a good service in this space?", they ask "What can we do to make the most money in this space?".

Wouldn't be surprised after all that we're hearing lately. What DOES confuse me though, is that wasn't there a dev a month or two ago that came out and said the Wii U had a "really great processor"?

Oh boy... Just how did this thread turn into an Apple vs Microsoft war? I'm not too fond of either, but come on guys, you're stepping vastly off topic here. ;)

#88024 So, Uh- I think I might want a PS4? [Wii U Hardware stuff]

Posted by Deadly Virus on 16 June 2012 - 05:27 AM in Wii U Hardware

So, Nintendo's goal isn't to make money?

It is, sure. But Nintendo takes other factors into consideration that companies like Microsoft do not. This is where Nintendo's obsession with innovation actually tends to be a good thing. Microsoft simply wouldn't have come up with the Wii, for instance, as it was simply too big of a risk.

And XBL isn't cheap to run. If it were free, I doubt it would be as good as it is now.

We have PSN which is effectively on the same level as XBL, and apart from PSN+ it's completely free. In this day and age, there's little reason to keep online gaming services subscription-based, it's not new technology anymore.

Sorry about all the contradictions. Blame the guy who translated it, I doubt the original text is like that.

Some more translations just came in... Looking good so far, but I'm still wondering how much "less powerful" it is than Xbox 8, and the lack of triggers is dissapointing. <_<

But on the bright side, UNREAL ENGINE 4 CONFIRMED! :o (maybe)

Posted Image

>Wii U has 2GB of RAM, 560MB of that are for the OS
>supports DX11, they managed to port Unreal Engine 4 on it
>less powerful than Xbox 8
>2 tablet-pads are supported
>Release Date: 23 November
>Ubisoft will bring Rayman Legends, ACIII, Rabbids Party, Killer Freaks, The Avengers and Just Dance 4 on it
>That little button under the D-Pad on the left of the controller is somehow linked to the Wii Vitality Sensor
>No Analog R2/L2 unlike 360 controller/DualShock3

Also fake becauase Nintendo insisted on NOT having an achievement system.

Really? When? I've never heard this before, and it'd seem rather ignorant. <_<

#88924 Crytek: Wii U is 'minimum as powerful as Xbox 360'

Posted by Deadly Virus on 20 June 2012 - 09:28 AM in Wii U Hardware

Great news. I never doubted this anyway. I just worry about how much more powerful it is than Xbox 360. CryEngine 3 already runs on PS3/360, so it's not surprising or too exciting at all that it runs on Wii U.

#88969 Crytek: Wii U is 'minimum as powerful as Xbox 360'

Posted by Deadly Virus on 20 June 2012 - 11:02 AM in Wii U Hardware

Once again a scaled down version runs on ps360. Maybe wii u is getting the next gen treatment

Maybe, but it's not been confirmed yet. I don't want to jump into assuming things without it being clarified first. That way, if it DOES turn out that Wii U runs next-gen-capable engines, then I'll be very pleasantly surprised. ^_^

#153568 Big Pokemon Announcement Coming on January 8th

Posted by Deadly Virus on 29 December 2012 - 01:18 PM in General Gaming

Hope it's Gen 6 for the 3DS. I want R/S/E remakes as much as anyone else, but I'd prefer to see something properly new first. With a new gen and new hardware it leaves a lot for Gamefreak to experiment with.

#162146 My Body just Wasnt ready

Posted by Deadly Virus on 23 January 2013 - 09:28 AM in Wii U Games and Software

That was actually legitimately amazing IMO. I was totally not expecting them to reveal Monolith Soft's game so early, and it looks just as good as I expected. Yoshi was a nice surprise, and I'm so glad that Ninty decided to one-up Sony/MS/Third parties by properly remaking Wind Waker rather than just slapping it into 720p.

All in all, brilliant Nintendo Direct. Can't wait for 3D Mario, Mario Kart and SSB4 at E3. :o

and did you notice the only major developer not mentioned was Retro?

Retro will most likely be at E3. And you know their game's gonna be some top notch stuff, so the wait's entirely worth it I think.

#74336 Call of Duty

Posted by Deadly Virus on 23 April 2012 - 11:57 PM in Wii U Games and Software

If the Call of Duty games won't support the Wii Mote, I will really pissed. It's like going a step backwards for me, the Wii mote controls are way more precise for me and it doesn't look like I would have a broken neck. (I mean seriously, you always point at the middle of the screen! No freedom at all!)

I agree here. Never played CoD on the Wii, but to have the opportunity to play a full HD CoD game with Wiimote controls on the Wii U? That would just be too awesome. I get the feeling they might leave it out though, but I seriously hope not.

#74370 Call of Duty

Posted by Deadly Virus on 24 April 2012 - 03:49 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Of course CoD will be on Wiiu, but definitely not Black Op's 2. With the rapid developement of CoD, there's no way Treyarch would have time to port it onto the system. You'll more than likely have to wait until MW4. Doesn't matter much anyways as there are multiple other FPS'/violent shooters announced for the system (Ghost Recon, Killer Freaks, Metro: Last Light, etc)

I'd imagine it's been in development for the past two years. I always assumed that Treyarch began work on BO2 or whatever it is immediately after finishing Black Ops, that's how they keep up the one game a year cycle. They'd have had plenty of time to port it to Wii U, and seeing as Treyarch is much more friendly to Nintendo consoles than IW, I'd say it's very likely.

Also, don't count on there being an MW4. I'm expecting Future Warfare more than anything.

#74494 Call of Duty

Posted by Deadly Virus on 24 April 2012 - 02:11 PM in Wii U Games and Software

If they were indeed working on a U version, why wouldn't they have said something, or why wouldn't we have at least heard some leaked info by this point?

NDAs of course ;)

Notice how we've heard next to nothing about ANY more Wii U multiplats since last year. We know they're coming, but Nintendo's keeping them tightly under wraps, probably so they can surprise everyone in one go at E3.

But, I wouldn't entirely dismiss the chance of the Wii U version of Black Ops 2 being announced in the trailer next week. Just wait and see, man.

#74107 RUMOR: [Some of you are probably really happy] - Wii U renamed Nintendo U

Posted by Deadly Virus on 23 April 2012 - 12:58 PM in Wii U Hardware

Hell yeah! It reminds me of the Nintendo 64. Short and sweet, nice and simple. And it places emphasis on the "Nintendo" part.

If this turns out to be true, I will be a very very happy man. ;)

EDIT: That video does look rather fake though. I'd still like to hope that maybe he's got some insider info anyway though..

#84961 Nintendo should release the Wii U next year

Posted by Deadly Virus on 06 June 2012 - 10:07 AM in Wii U Hardware

They just focussed on launch line up, which is ok.... but considering you (Nintendo) were late to HD party, they should have just gone all out on previews of games coming out next year as well.

If they did that instead of focussing 10-20 minutes on stupid NintendoLand then People would buy the Wii U in the first year since we would know what good games are coming.

What's annoying is that only 3 titles from nintendo, and are those 3 titles supposed to occupy us until Winter 2013 for games that are to be announced at E3 2013. It is just bad business.. ok for share prices it isnt, but for the core Nintendo audience it's terrible.

What game do you play from january onwards when you complete those launch titles?

I'm guessing they'll have at least something to announce at TGS 2012 in September, probably to be released in the January - June 2013 timeframe. It seems like investors may have been cracking down hard on all 3 companies this year, which could be the reason for the lackluster showing from the big three's conferences. TGS this year though could be a good time for Nintendo to showcase a Wii U installment of one of their less mainstream or more Japanese-y franchises, something that they might not have felt comfortable showing at E3.

#84871 Nintendo should release the Wii U next year

Posted by Deadly Virus on 06 June 2012 - 02:36 AM in Wii U Hardware

To further my point of the crap this console launch is compared to the Wii and why the U should be delayed, I bring you a quote from NeoGaf:

Here's something fun to think about.

The Nintendo Wii launched in November 2006. By this time, the following games had been announced and shown as either in-game footage or a CGI teaser. All of these games were published and/or developed by Nintendo specifically.

- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (enhanced GCN port)
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
- Excite Truck
- Disaster: Day of Crisis
- Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
- Battalion Wars 2
- Donkey Kong Barrel Blast (initially for the GCN)
- Mario Strikers Charged
- Mario Party 8
- Super Paper Mario (initially for the GCN)
- WarioWare: Smooth Moves
- Wii Sports
- Wii Play

As it stands, the Wii U is expected to launch around November 2012, operating on a similar schedule to the Wii. The following is a list of Nintendo published and/or developed titles that have been shown or teased with video.

- Pikmin 3
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii U
- Nintendo Land
- Wii Fit U
- SiNG
- LEGO City: Undercover
- Project P-100
- Wii U Panorama View
- Game & Wario
- Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge (enhanced 360/PS3 port)

A nice comparison of line-ups, don't cha think?

http://www.neogaf.co...&postcount=7784

This really explains my dissapointment IMO.

#99817 GameStop Employee: "There will be no Wii U Midnight Launch(es) at GameSto...

Posted by Deadly Virus on 14 August 2012 - 06:14 PM in Wii U Hardware

What? This makes absolutely zero sense. The Wii had a massive midnight launch. More recently, the 3DS did so too. For what reason would a Wii U midnight launch be out of the question? <_<

#111784 What type of Gamer do you consider yourself to be?

Posted by Deadly Virus on 23 September 2012 - 02:57 AM in General Gaming

I consider myself "hardcore" to some degree, but then I enjoy a wide range of games some of which people would probably consider to be pretty "casual".

It all depends on your general attitude towards gaming I guess. If you know a lot about the games you play and are open to playing new ones across many different genres and platforms, then that'd fit the definition of "hardcore" IMO.
