#48884 What do you HATE about your favorite games.

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 23 December 2011 - 07:28 AM in General Gaming

We have have video games we love and enjoy, but it's a proven fact that no game is flawless. Perfection is something that will never be reached in gaming. So I made this topic to hear about the things people hate about their favorite games. I'll start off.

Super Smash Bros Brawl is my favorite game of the series. It's got tons of characters, great stages, an amazing soundtrack, and fantastic graphics for the Wii. What do I hate about it?

All-star mode is a chore to complete. I preferred it in Melee when you would fight the characters in a random order. I fear this mode in the next Smash, just for the amount of characters you will have to fight. It would take way to long just to go through it once.

The Subspace Emissary. Now don't get me wrong. I love the idea of a story based mode, but the story was just...meh. It's to serious for a game filled with Nintendo characters (and Snake and Sonic), and there's a lack of comedic moments. I mean, they are there, just not very often. And what is with all the original enemies? I was looking forward to beating up Space Pirates and Kremlings. Even Melee's adventure mode had you facing various Zelda and Ice Climber enemies.

Wolf. Yup, I do not agree with his inclusion. Why does the Star Fox series get 3 representatives, while more popular franchises like Donkey Kong and Metroid only get 2? I would've preferred King K. Rool or Ridley over Wolf.

And finally, Sonic. I was so excited when he was confirmed for the game, but he honestly felt rushed. You can tell they had to hurry up and finish him. I heard somewhere that he was the cause of the first delay of the game. They should have slowed him down a small bit, and given him a bit more power in his attacks.

Now it's your turn.

#48525 Super Smash Bros. 4 on 2 Consoles?

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 21 December 2011 - 01:56 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I think that both games will be great. The only thing I'm worried about are system exclusive characters. I can understand the 3DS having a smaller character roster then the Wii U version, but I think they should try to have the same number of characters for both versions, even if it means cutting a few extra things from the handheld version. This is especially true if this whole character customization feature Sakurai is thinking about using the Wii U/3DS connectivity actually happens. Wouldn't make sense to have one character on the 3DS version that's not on the Wii U version.

#48033 Sonic for eShop, anyone?

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 19 December 2011 - 01:01 PM in General Gaming

It's cool how companies is reviving some of the more obscure games like Konami's "Twin Bee". If they were going to do Sonic games, they would obviously start with the Genesis titles, and probably the Sonic 4 titles. They could even put up some of the Game gear Sonic games like Sonic Chaos and Triple Trouble.

Now as for Shadow the Hedgehog. Should they port the game over to the 3DS? I think not. The game did not do very well with fans or reviewers, and even SEGA knows it. A NEW Shadow the Hedgehog game? No. I absolutely despised the original game, even more then Sonic 06'. It's a series with a bunch of cartoon animals running around stopping the evil plans of an egg shaped man. Dark and moody story lines with guns and killing does not fit the universe at all, which is one of the reasons the game didn't do well. I'll give the game credit for it's awesome soundtrack and unique levels, but I hated the game play. Besides, a new Shadow game would drive the fan base into a psychotic rampage, especially since the Sonic franchise is starting to get back on it's feet after are hard fall. If they can rage over Sonic's green eyes, they would freak at a new Shadow game. The only character spin-off I agree with is a game revolving around Blaze the Cat. Her universe has barely been touched and is filled with so much potential.

What about the characters? Oh, you had white text, why do you hate them?

I think he was referring to just Shadow. Shadow has been known to be a very generic character, and I agree with this. There is not much originality put into his back story, and his angst, dark personality completely clashes with they happy world of Sonic. I will admit that in newer games like Sonic Free Riders and Sonic Generations, he has become a little more unique. He has gone from "I hate everyone! I am the ultimate badass!", to "I am the best! Everyone look at me!"

One last thing. Shadow Knight, I spy a small error in your fandom section. Nitendo is not how it's spelled. This may be due to limited space, but if you remove the period after Capcom, you should be able to fit that missing 'n' in there. No big deal. It was just bothering me.

#48022 Favorite Sega Character?

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 19 December 2011 - 12:42 PM in General Gaming

AiAi, who is that, and no Dark Chao Chao? Or whatever they are called, I don't remember...

Aiai is one of the main characters of the Super Monkey Ball series. They are really fun games, so I recommend checking them out if you haven't.

As for my favorite SEGA character? It's a close tie between Chaos Zero from Sonic the Hedgehog, Opa Opa from Fantasy Zone, or Vectorman from...well...Vectorman. Too bad Fantasy Zone and Vectorman are dead franchises :(

#47232 WiiU Trophy/Achievement system

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 13 December 2011 - 07:34 AM in Wii U Hardware

I came up with this idea for Badges.

You earn badges the same way you earn achievements/trophies. Once a badge is unlocked, you can then place it on your little profile thing, or even place one on your Mii. For example, you unlock all the characters in Super Smash Bros whateveritiscalled, and you get a badge of the smash symbol. You can then let a Mii wear it, or even put it as a profile pic thing. There would be plenty of badges in each game.

#47231 The three things you are wickedly good at

#1: Dance Dance Revolution (Been playing for 7 years )

#2: Writing (People say I'm a fantastic writer)

#3: Imagination (Yes, I'm wickedly good at imagination)

#47230 Let's Talk IPs!

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 13 December 2011 - 07:21 AM in Wii U Games and Software

The Wii U needs something fresh. For example, Chibi-Robo was a unique IP that Nintendo has left behind (except for a couple of handheld games). It basically brought the perspective of the show George Shrinks, and turned it into a unique game. Nintendo really needs something new to bring to the table. Mario and Zelda games aren't going to keep them going forever.

#46060 New Sonic Game

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 09 December 2011 - 03:41 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The entire reason Sega began to drop supporting roles in Sonic games was because "fans" kept mother doging about it. These are the same "fans" that say Sonic games are bad because he is skinny and has green eyes.

These are the people who make me ashamed to be apart of the fan base. These are the same people who won't let go of Sonic 06' and the bad rep it brought to the series, despite the game being released almost 6 years ago. These are the same people who cancelled their pre-orders for Sonic Generations because Silver was a BOSS FIGHT (a really good one IMO).

I'd personally be cool with what they do either way, but for the people who aren't satisfied with alternate colours, here's an idea.

Each colour would likely represented a different ability, right? Now, if each colour were to have a different personality, that could easily change up the story (co-op, internal fighting, better script etc). Hmm... maybe... how about:

Yellow: A smart, mechanically adept Sonic.
Red: A feisty, straightforward Sonic.
Green: The 'It's all about Speed' Sonic.
Black: The Chaos Control Sonic.
Silver: The Telekinetic Sonic.
Pink: The really, really, REALLY annoying Sonic.
Blue: The normal Sonic.

cwatididthar?

You could probably go further and give them details:

Yellow: Holds a wrench and has a propeller backpack.
Red: Wears spiky gloves.
Green: Wears snow goggles.
Black: Holds a gun?
Silver: Covered in illuminating marks.
Pink: Holds a hammer.
Blue: Generally, has this expression most of the time: http://fc00.devianta...dam_Novagen.png

This is a pretty good idea, but I'm not big on having the different Sonic's impersonating the other characters, when the other characters could easily be implemented into the game. All SEGA has to do is find a way of making each character unique and fun. I believe if you replaced the werehog in Sonic Unleashed with Knuckles, and made the levels to match Knuckles's speed, it could have gotten more applause then hate, but that's just me.

#46056 The New Super Smash Brothers Game Wishes

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 09 December 2011 - 03:27 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I bet this will be a broken character. Anyway, I wonder if they would have customization?

I think the only real customization would be if your Mii is a heavy-weight, average-weight, or light-weight character depending on their size and, well, weight. If you could customize their move set, someone would eventually find the perfect combination to make a broken character, unless their is some sort of limitation in the customization. I wouldn't mind playing as a Mii, and their specials could be as simple as a rolling a bowling ball into an opponent, or hitting a golf ball at someone. They could have a magic attack based on the color, just like in the Find Mii mini-game on the 3DS.

Though I question most of the stage choices in Sonic Generation 3DS, I can't help but LOVE this remix:

#44801 Retro Studios are working on a Wii U game

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 01 December 2011 - 05:06 PM in Wii U Games and Software

They need to make a new F-Zero. Now. They worked on the track designs and layouts for Mario Kart 7, so they already have some sort of practice with racing.

#44744 HATERS?(in general)

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 01 December 2011 - 01:36 PM in General Gaming

People are going to continue to believe that Nintendo is just kiddie games with terrible graphics. These same people play nothing but Call of Duty all day and think that they are hardcore gamers because they do so. These people are scared of vibrant games, and would rather play games with dull and bland environments. They bash every Mario and Kirby game for being childish because of their easy difficulty and brighter characters. These are the people I argue with everyday, and I'm tired of it. As for the Wii U? People aren't even giving it a chance. Whenever I bring up the console, they just laugh and continue talking about World War Shooting 87. Seriously, it's got to end. I'm an all around guy. I own a Wii and a 360. If I had the money, I would own a PS3 too. People just don't like to try new things and would rather mock people who do. *sigh*...

#44729 The New Super Smash Brothers Game Wishes

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 01 December 2011 - 01:02 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I've got a good list here, so lets get started:

1. A NEW ADVENTURE MODE

The Subspace Emissary in Brawl was a hit or miss inclusion. Some people really like it (like me), but others do not. Maybe it was the repetitiveness, or the lack of enemies from other games other then Super Mario Bros, or even the fact that you don't actually visit any of the game's worlds (except for Sky World). My idea for a new adventure mode would be something like Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. There is one main hub area, and the other worlds are scattered around. The world's would be interconnected, and there would be a boss in each one. Don't know what the story would be, but the villain should be someone we know.

2. RETURN OF OLDER STADIUM MODES

Melee got rid of Board the Platforms. Brawl got rid of Race to the Finish. What's next? Are we going to lose the Home Run Contest? They need to either create some new modes, or bring back the other ones. Board the Platforms was awesome, and really tested your jumping skills. Race to the Finish was a fun break from Classic mode. Having these return would be fantastic.

3. NEW MULTIPLAYER MODES

We've got Time, Stock, Coin, Team, and Special game modes in Multiplayer. Some new modes would be awesome. Tag Team would be great. One person on each team would be fighting, and the two partners could swap out at any time. King of the Hill mode would work so well in this play style. People knocking others out of the ring to gain control of it.

4. CHARACTERS

Duh. Characters are a must. I would love to see:

Waluigi (Super Mario Bros.)
Little Mac (Punch-Out!)
Bowser Jr. (Super Mario Bros.)
King K. Rool (Donkey Kong)
Krystal (Star Fox)
Chibi-Robo (Chibi-Robo)
Victini (Pokemon)
Sukapon (Joy Mech Fight)
Megaman (Megaman)
Geno (Super Mario RPG)
Paper Mario (Paper Mario)
Issac (Golden Sun)
Ridley (Metroid)

Some more obscure characters (which probably won't happen):

Space Pirate (Metroid)
Mach Rider (Mach Rider)
Akari (1080 Snowboarding/Wave Race)
Lanky Kong (Donkey Kong)

I would also love to see Earthworm Jim and Banjo and Kazooie, but there's no real chance.

5. STAGES
Personally, I found Brawl to have quite a few lack-luster stages. I'm hoping for a few stages:

Bowser's Castle (Super Mario Bros.)
Stricker Stadium (Super Mario Strikers)
Galaxy Voyage (Super Mario Galaxy)
Skyloft (Skyward Sword)
Spirit Tracks (Spirit Tracks)
Planet Aether (Metroid Prime 2: Echoes)
Patch Land (Kirby's Epic Yarn)
Route 1 (Pokemon)
Tetris (Tetris)
Angel Island Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog)
20XX (Megaman)
Paper Theater (Paper Mario)
Living Room (Chibi-Robo)
Championship Match (Punch-Out)
Mii Plaza (Or whatever type of Mii hub)

That's all...for now...

#44719 Your favorite game that no one plays

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 01 December 2011 - 12:27 PM in General Gaming

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy on the Game Cube. Great game play, great music, great bosses, great fun, especially with 4 people .

#44416 Your favorite video game character?

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 29 November 2011 - 12:46 PM in General Gaming

Earthworm Jim: Crazy, wacky, and unique design that sparked my creativity when I as younger. I really liked his cartoon personality too.

Dr. Robotnik/Eggman: This guy is just awesome. He is goofy and funny, while still retaining the evil nature he needs to be a villain. Seriously, he defeated Super Sonic, and blew up the Earth. He chained up and held whole planets hostage. He has almost wiped out existence, and for what? To build Eggmanland, which he basically did in Sonic Unleashed (It's the final level).

Dry Bones: I really can't explain this one very well. He just stands out from other enemies for me.

#44414 Metroid Series: Story, Gameplay, and Future speculation

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 29 November 2011 - 12:33 PM in General Gaming

The Metroid Prime games were great at providing a gloomy atmosphere and isolated feeling, which is something I found Other M and even MP3 strayed away from. Metroid Fusion was good, but I didn't enjoy being told where to go all the time. The labyrinth design was some thing that kept me interested in Metroid. Other M's rooms were too linear, but there were some creative hiding spots for items. I would like a third or first person Metroid game for the Wii U with an online system like Hunters, and maybe co-op somehow...

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 29 November 2011 - 12:25 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I hope they swapped out some of the Pokemon for different ones, then I would get a new move set.

I think PKMN Trainer should involve a different generation (probably 2 or 3). Mudkip, Grovile, and Blaziken would be pretty sweet. I'd also like to see Waluigi, King K. Rool, and Issac from Golden Sun as characters. OH! A new Metroid character would be great. Either Ridley, Dark Samus, or Sylux. Heck, Anthony Higgs would be cool too. Also Sukapon from Joy Mech Fight would make a great WTF character like Mr. G&W and R.O.B. (plus he`s heavily requested).

#44024 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

I always found it odd that only Wario got an alternate costume (the overalls). They could use Dr. Mario for Mario, Gooey for Kirby, Roy for Marth, Louie for Olimar, and more. I would've loved to see the actual Fusion Suit and Dark Suit for Samus instead of just recolors.

#43559 What games would you like to see make an HD remake or revived on the Wii U

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 24 November 2011 - 04:16 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I would like for Nintendo to remake Super Mario Sunshine. I really love that game. That, for the two Pikmin games. They ported Game Cube games over to the Wii with new controls, so maybe they can do the same with the Wii U.

#43534 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 24 November 2011 - 12:57 PM in Wii U Games and Software

On the topic of stages, anyone got some good ideas for stages?

I had an idea for a stage called Paper Theater based on the battle arena from Paper Mario 2. You would be fighting on the stage, and could use the set pieces as platforms. Just like in the game, the audience will throw items or objects at the players, and sometimes one of the set background pieces will fall over. After a little while, the curtains will close, leaving the players unaware of what they are doing for a second. When the curtains open back up, the stage set has been changed to something different.

#43393 Possible bots on Wii U?

Posted by Jumbo Worm on 23 November 2011 - 01:00 PM in Wii U Hardware

Bots are expected. People always like trying to show off their technological skills by creating bots and other software on consoles. They usually don't give up until they succeed, which is annoying.

#43218 Origin of your username

To my dad, I've always been known as 'The Worm', because of how much I wiggled around when I was a baby. One day, while trying to come up with a username for another forum, my dad walks into the room and calls me 'Jumbo Worm' due to being, well, older. You can figure out the rest from there.

This is a brilliant idea. I would love to see more interaction between Miis. Could make a great Smash stage too .
