#79346 Gearbox praises the Wii U even more!

Posted by InsaneLaw on 19 May 2012 - 05:32 PM in Wii U Hardware

I felt it came naturally straight away when it came to shooters, I feel the only people that complain are the people that for some reason hold there arms out in front of them while playing, rather than a more natural position. I even found Red Steel's controls to be good, not great, but they worked.

#79196 RUMOUR: Controller redesign!

Posted by InsaneLaw on 19 May 2012 - 12:51 PM in Wii U Hardware

I thought the square was just a design thing so the D-pad side doesn't look so empty. I mean the screen can be used for NFC so what's the point of having a little square for one?

Yeah, I doubt it will be on par with PC, except for maybe the types of effects it can do.

#79046 Wii U HD Experience Demo Screencaps Compilation

Posted by InsaneLaw on 18 May 2012 - 06:27 PM in Wii U Hardware

That n64 demo.. horrible lol.

They used the SM64 engine for the demo, and then wrote an almost completely different one for OoT, because of how awful it was.

#78983 How would you react if...

What dude?

He's talking about Pachter, Nin_Stream likes having the quotes after he's talking about them.

#78967 Wii U HD Experience Demo Screencaps Compilation

Posted by InsaneLaw on 18 May 2012 - 09:43 AM in Wii U Hardware

I still questioin weather the japanese garden demo is suppose to reflect what the graphics of Wii U would look like in game. Because seriously if Wii U in game graphics can pull that off.....

Why question it? It was in real time and interactive, it shows that the Wii GPU can do affects that the current gen can't because of the new tech(something that journalists can't seem to understand), plus the demo was interactive and running on the hardware on two screens with different points of view on each screen. So of course it's representative of what the Wii U can do.

#78688 Wii U console redesign will be shown at E3 2012- IdeaMan

Posted by InsaneLaw on 16 May 2012 - 07:24 PM in Wii U Hardware

Well ofcourse it's going to be redesigned a little bit, but alot of what he said was obvious, Development Kits hardly ever look like their console counterparts (at least at first they don't).

Here's a few devkits (including dolphin, DirectXbox and others): http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Dev_kit

#78340 WiiPad Rumored to use Android OS:

Posted by InsaneLaw on 14 May 2012 - 11:02 AM in Wii U Hardware

It's like this in order for you to see a different view from what's on the main tv screen, their has to be some kind of CPU/gpu/ram or whatever. We expect the Wii U to stream content to the WiiPad, run the game, recognize your face, allow for touch recognition, and display everything in 1080p. Either this is the most powerful console ever and you need to sit it inside an ice cooler just to keep it from exploding or the WiiPad does have processors/CPU/gpu/arm whatever. I love speculation but I hate bs. What your trying to say is that the WiiPad is just a clear piece of glass and plastic until the console itself streams something to it. Since you work at nintendo tell me how can I get a job

He's just saying that it won't be powerful enough to run applications and games on it's own, the Wii U will stream everything to it, ofcourse it has to have a few chips inside of the controller to run the touchscreen, camera and stuff, but you're talking like the thing can run on its own, which it won't, it's sort of like a T.V with a touchscreen and extras more than anything.

#78204 Rumor: People will be "blown away" by Unreal Engine 4 on Wii U

Posted by InsaneLaw on 13 May 2012 - 03:32 PM in Wii U Hardware

I know the Wii iss weak compared to the other current gen consoles, but that's not what we were talking about, it was the Original Xbox.

#78156 Rumor: People will be "blown away" by Unreal Engine 4 on Wii U

I don't even think the Xbox upscales to 1080i, just 720p.

@DesertPunk

The Xbox wasn't more powerful than the Wii, it just had Shader Tech rather than TEVs, it also ran on Direct X 8 which helped developers that were used to working with PCs.

Plus, you're comparing Forza, a first party game made specifically for the Xbox, to NFS Carbon, a game running on a third party engine built on the PS2.

With Conker you can see the fur shaders look magnificent, but the SMG games are exactly the same in that department, since it's all art direction.

Also, Nintendo use higher res textures that are scaled down to fit 480p in most cases, and the Wii could upscale to 720p if it wasn't limited by the software on the system. The Xbox can't actually run 720p or 1080i games, only upscale them to 720p or 1080i.

#78078 Known facts

Posted by InsaneLaw on 13 May 2012 - 12:17 AM in Wii U Hardware

eDRAM is essentially L3 cache. The 360 has 10mb.
http://en.wikipedia....ox_360#Hardware

The Xbox360 has 1MB of L2 cache(total), the EDRAM in that is used for the GPU, not the CPU, it even says if you click on the hardware link.

http://en.wikipedia....ox_360_hardware

Where as the Wii U will apparently use the EDRAM as cache(like the Power7 does), hence 4MB of L3 cache per core(like the Power7). Although I don't know why people are saying it's a tri-core, no-one knows how many cores it has except for Nintendo and the developers.

Disaster: Day of Crisis 2 confirmed for Wii U!
(Disaster is a game about the end of the world, hence earthquakes)

I was actually thinking that as well.

At e3 2011, the charge port was at the top, covered by a piece of silicone.
That model also still had a connection port on the bottom of the unit, though I thought it looked more like the one on the wiimote.

I just looked at the last years E3 design, and the patent's port was at the bottom. (picture 4)

#77484 Some new Wii U patents

Posted by InsaneLaw on 08 May 2012 - 03:19 PM in Wii U Hardware

It sort of looks like an e-SATA port for some reason, although it's not exactly the same shape, it's probably for charging.

As for the Balance board add on, yeah, I can see some games that could make use of it, how about a horror game where you walk around a house using the balance board, and something suddenly graps your feet causing the board, and not the controller to vibrate.

#77404 Dev Kit V5

Posted by InsaneLaw on 08 May 2012 - 01:29 AM in Wii U Hardware

Speaking about the guy, he's suddenly getting alot of hate in the Neogaf thread, for some reason, People are starting to believe he's been spreading Bullcrap the whole time, which could be true. It worries me.

I think he has, he's a journalist(or so he says) and that means that he's been getting second hand info at best, that and Ubisoft have already stated that the final dev kits won't be around until June.

#77403 "The Intended Platforms UE 4 is aimed at have not been announced" Say...

Posted by InsaneLaw on 08 May 2012 - 01:21 AM in Wii U Hardware

He meant they haven't announced the platforms they intend to aim UE4 at yet, hence the secret showings.

That's exactly what I got from it, it's amazing how others misread it. I guess it's ever so slightly ambiguous.

But yeah, they wouldn't tell us the platforms it's intended for yet, it's like people just thrive on thinking everything's negative when it comes to the WIi U.

#77217 Wii U can do crazy insane 3D engines- Tyrone Rodriguez, Nicalis

Posted by InsaneLaw on 06 May 2012 - 11:52 AM in Wii U Hardware

I don't think he was talking about stereoscopic 3D...

You're right, he was talking about polygons and stuff.

#77163 Rumors: All In One

Posted by InsaneLaw on 06 May 2012 - 02:24 AM in Wii U Hardware

This guy must be reeeeeaaally informed. :P

He's a Journalist with secondhand information, his info could be really old or misinformed. Although the case above is probably true.

Unreal Engine 4 is the newest Unreal Engine......

It was a bit of sarcasm gone wrong, it doesn't seem to translate to most on the internet.

#76394 I FOUND LEAKED Wii U HARDWARE FROM IBM

Orion posted it on another thread. Where'd you get 4-8GB of RAM from? Says nothing of the sort on there.

#76392 Nintendo Facing Limits For Wii U Launch

Posted by InsaneLaw on 01 May 2012 - 01:15 PM in Wii U Hardware

It's pretty much stating the obvious, they're bringing a new console out and because of that they won't have many games ready at launch, of course they'll have some games but I'm sure that Iwata was talking about those people that pretty much expect everything.
