#58447 Your favorite video game character?

Posted by NovusRex on 29 January 2012 - 02:07 PM in General Gaming

Easy, no one beats Conker.

He is funny, cruel, loves babes, loves alcohol and loves to kill teddybears. What else can you possibly want more?

#58435 Wii U Wishlist

Posted by NovusRex on 29 January 2012 - 01:36 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Pokemon Stadium-like game. One that supports both Gen IV and Gen V games, with up to date battle animations, tournaments, cup games and most of all: great online functionality. Battling gamers and trainers around the world should be rewarding and fun. To keep a community alive, they need to reward those gamers by giving tm's for example, pokemon with hidden abillities, whatever. Perhaps link the game with Global Link, that'd be nice.

Pokemon main series game. Something that won't happen in the near future, as Nintendo wants to keep the mainseries portable only. However, a full 3d game with a mainstory, with grass where you can find and catch and train pokemon, gym battles, trainers (perhaps even online trainers, in the style of a mmorpg), a beautiful world and landscape.. You name it. I guess many are wishing for something like this, in vain.

Pokemon Snap (yea, pokemon fan aye?). Same as before, a full 3d world where you can go whereever you want, with great interaction with the world and the little creatures who live there. I'd def. buy it.

Mario, in the style of Mario 64. 3d with updated graphics, a new kind of story would be nice and with all the suits and perks we have seen troughout the history of Mario.

Conker, e.g. sequel to Conker's Bad Fur Day. Probably the best game for the N64 ever was this game and darn, we (I!) need a new one. Too bad Rare is in the hands of Microsoft, so this one is probably not going to be there aswell.

Descruction Derby 64 sequel. Probably not the best received N64 game, nor very popular. It has great potential, I find racing itself rather boring.. However, race and smash other cars? Darn, that's nice! Something with a lot of potential.

Assassin's Creed series, but these will come to the WiiU. Thank the Lord!

Yugioh series should have a nice game aswell, not some linear 2d animations, but 3d aswell. I'd like that.

Perfect Dark game, yea well.. Who doesn't remember this game? Never played the single player myself (shame on me), so I'd love to have a new chance ;)

Mortal Kombat.. Yea, I need to blow some steam off once in a while. I just hope this game isn't too bloody for Nintendo. I'm a lesser fan of the Street Fighter series, but there are welcome if MK can't make it.

Perhaps an Elder Scrolls game, but I found Skyrim rather... boring when it comes to the story. ES with great story seems good.

Nintendo World Cup-similar game. God I love this game for the NES, unique gameplay, so much fun especially with friends. It's not on Virtual Console so far, so why not make a brand new game? Darn you Nintendo, make it! Create it, build it!

That's it what I came up with right now.. *dreams on*

#59151 Wii u will not compete in power next gen???????

Trolls?

Correct!

#59087 Wii u will not compete in power next gen???????

Posted by NovusRex on 01 February 2012 - 06:14 PM in Wii U Hardware

Seriously, if you wanna bash Nintendo or any gaming company for that matter, than do it right. Dont rearrange words.

For example, this article here http://www.escapistm...e-Says-Miyamoto says "Wii U graphics won't amaze people" or how Reggie said "Wii U will be powerful enough to run all HD games".

http://wiiugo.com/re...-is-not-enough/

Nintendo themselves are contradicted each other.

One article in june, another one in january. Yea, then things are bound to contradict after such a time period ^^,. You're right though: if one wants to bash, atleast do it good. Regarding the article from the first post: worthless. People do anything these days to get attention. What are those people called? Hmm..

#58443 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by NovusRex on 29 January 2012 - 01:47 PM in Wii U Hardware

I'm guessing it will cost around €350 euro. The console seems rather innovative and it's really a major improvement (graphics wise, controller wise) over the Wii. I remember the PS3 coming out for €600,-, which is a darn lot. It was at that time the most powerful console and that was reflected in the price. They had to sell it with loss.. I'm quite sure the production costs will be lower than the PS3 at that time, but I can't imagine the gap being any smaller than €150,-, also with the new controller in mind.

I'll probably buy it right away if it's between €300,- and €400,-, but I certainly will not go any higher. I can't spend that much and the games themselve are idiotic expensive aswell.

#59153 Wii U power maybe misleading

Posted by NovusRex on 02 February 2012 - 04:10 AM in Wii U Hardware

I do know that they will use a modified card, but this was all the material I had to compare one with another ^^, Hopefully they will release some more info on the hardware soon, don't want to wait till the E3.

#59080 Wii U power maybe misleading

Posted by NovusRex on 01 February 2012 - 06:02 PM in Wii U Hardware

Let me start by saying I don't know anything about hardware, specs, etc.. However, I've looked up some benchmarks from the cards you mentioned and compared them with the Xbox360 card (well, a similar card actually) and the Ps3 Card.

GeForce 7900 GT: 623
Radeon HD 4870: 1,740
Radeon HD 4850: 1,333
Radeon HD 4830: 1,254
All-in-Wonder X1800XL: 700 (same architecture was used for the Xbox cards, so I'm guessing it's roughly the same. if anyone knows a better card to compare, please share)

When comparing, it's noticable that the mentioned cards for the WiiU will be roughly 2 times as strong as the ones used in the Ps3 and Xbox (except the 4830, which isn't close to being twice as strong). If the rumours are true (WiiU twice as powerfull as the Xbox 360), the only logical option would be a card like the HD 4870. It's the only card that is actually twice as strong as the Xbox-similar card and the prices between the mentioned HD cards don't vary much at all. The production costs (especially in large orders) should be roughly the same, so to me that's another reason why the 4870 card is the most obvious choice to make. Anyway, that's just my non-professional input lol. Also, the 4870 is the only card that supports 256 bit DDR5, something I bet game developers would prefer over DDR3.

Orion, care to explain what stream processing units actually does/mean? And what do you think is roughly the difference between the 4870 and the 4850 (the cards I think stand the most chance)?

#58914 When will the Colorful Wiiu's be revealed?

Posted by NovusRex on 01 February 2012 - 04:21 AM in Wii U Hardware

I think both black and white are the must-have options. Most homesets (tv, audio/video receiver, dvd/blu ray player, etc.) are either black or white and it would look rather ugly for me to put an white WiiU between my all-black set :P I can see that this isn'r relevant or important to perhaps most gamers though. However, I agree with the arguments some people in this thread gave aswell. Black is more likely to attract "hardcore gamers".

#60589 What will Ur username be in Nintendo Network for the Wii U?

Posted by NovusRex on 09 February 2012 - 03:48 AM in Wii U Hardware

NovusRex, Novus Rex, Rex Novus, RexNovus. One of those should be possible ^^, Don't know if the name can contain spaces.

#60106 What Virtual Console Games Do You Want?

Posted by NovusRex on 06 February 2012 - 04:55 PM in Wii U Games and Software

NES - Nintendo World Cup. http://en.wikipedia....tendo_World_Cup

God, I need it.. Had so much fun playing it and I bet it will have much fun again.

#58928 What music are you listening to at the moment?

Posted by NovusRex on 01 February 2012 - 06:22 AM in The Café

In-a-gadda-da-vida! Great song, original version lasts 17 minutes <3 The song is by Iron Butterfly.

#58929 What Movie adaptations of a games do you tolerate or even like?

Posted by NovusRex on 01 February 2012 - 06:34 AM in The Café

Resident evil: I like them. Ofcourse they are not masterpieces, but I don't mind watching them.

Prince of Persia: It wasn't bad at all. Again, not a masterpiece but it never tried to be.

I wouldn't mind an Assassin's Creed movie, Ubisoft even has this idea. However, Ubisoft want to control about the whole process and the big moviestudios aren't up to it. Guess this movie will have to wait a while, if it's going to happen.

#58917 What launch titles will you pick up with your Wii U?

Posted by NovusRex on 01 February 2012 - 04:46 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Most likely some Nintendo 1st-party games, and if a certain third-party title attracts my eye I'll get that too. I might even get some games via Virtual Console (I'm guessing it'll show up on the WiiU aswell).

#58773 What is your favorite gaming system?

Posted by NovusRex on 31 January 2012 - 09:43 AM in General Gaming

Well, the Nintendo 64. I used to play a lot on this little machine, games like Goldeneye, Pokemon, The world is not enough, Conker's Bad Fur Day.. All had great multiplayer gameplay and it really stayed with me, the memories. Never had that much fun in my life ^^,

#58450 What Consoles do you have?

Posted by NovusRex on 29 January 2012 - 02:11 PM in General Gaming

Nintendo 64 Pikachu Edition (how cute)
NES (though it's having problems lately, perhaps have to buy a new old one)
Wii.

Never had money as a kid for the GC, so never owned it or even tried it.

Handhelds I have:

Gameboy Colour

#62138 Sony's new chief says they are going to make “unavoidable, painful choices”

Posted by NovusRex on 17 February 2012 - 04:53 PM in General Gaming

I wonder how much that will make a difference. The large budget for marketing. I think most people that have a certain amount of interest in the Vita already know about it, thus marketing seems a bit.. pointless. Ofcourse you might reach a new audience, but I don't think that audience is large enough. Perhaps they should use the money to reduce the price instead for a certain time. Ah well, let's see what it does.

#61571 Sony's new chief says they are going to make “unavoidable, painful choices”

Posted by NovusRex on 14 February 2012 - 06:22 AM in General Gaming

I see it more likely that Sony will depart the gaming industry, than leaving other electronics. A new Playstation requires a large investment and thus money, which they don't appear to have at this moment. Other electronics are already established and require less investment, so it seems more likely to me that they stick with those relatively cheap products. The PS Vita might change things though, but if it flops it might be another reason to leave the gaming industry (for the upcoming generation).

#61511 RUMOR - Ubisoft's 2012 game lineup (Assassin's Creed 3 on Wii U)

Posted by NovusRex on 13 February 2012 - 05:51 PM in Wii U Games and Software

True that, and Assassin's Creed 3 is out in November as far as I know. It might be a launch title then, that'd be very nice hehe.

#61466 RUMOR - Ubisoft's 2012 game lineup (Assassin's Creed 3 on Wii U)

Posted by NovusRex on 13 February 2012 - 03:28 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'll definately buy Creed 3 if it comes out on the WiiU. Love the series, would love to see how the gameplay would be on the WiiU as opposed to the pc. Anyway, looking forward to it ^^,

#59238 Really important job for us all

Posted by NovusRex on 02 February 2012 - 01:37 PM in General Gaming

If a game is great, people will buy it. Now more than ever, with internet as a great medium to reach people (in a cheap way). All the stuff the vidkid is talking about "people only buy triple-a titles", it's not true.. Atleast not when there are other great games. He must also realise that a lot of games that come out are carp and not worth spending so much money on. A few examples of games not released by Nintendo that would sell regardless:

- GTA franchise
- Assassin's Creed franchise
- Elder Scrolls franchise
- FPS shooters of the famous brands (e.g. Call of Duty, Battlefield)
- Sports series (e.g. Fifa and Madden NFL games)

The problem with the Wii was that the most famous games were simply too powerfull for the Wii. Also, with a console like the Wii you can expect that third-parties will have a hard time, considering the new tech and playstyle. The WiiU is likely to be powerfull enough to make third-party progammers happy and we sure can expect their famous titles on the WiiU aswell. One thing that the vid isn't mentioning is this: people don't buy stuff they don't know.. It applies to all consoles and pc aswell. If you make a brilliant game for the PS3 from a rather unknown developer, chances are high it won't become a succes. It's nothing related to Nintendo. I'm not the least bit worried that there will be a lack of third-party games and games that will actually sell well.

#58840 PS4 and 720 more powerful than Wii U?

Posted by NovusRex on 31 January 2012 - 04:24 PM in Wii U Hardware

also 1 more story. http://www.xbitlabs....ess_Gaikai.html

Thats bad news for console gamers, and I will not try to guess who may that be.. If its true. Some people who searched this info a bit further, found out, that one of this 3 players in the market (SONY, MS, Nintendo).. Didn’t renewed their contracts.. About something they must do always.. Not into many info about it (but its true). Surelly its not Nintendo, as wii U is almost ready and announced.

So maybe one of the 2 (sony, microsoft), is lying.. Thats totally unofficial info, don’t take it in granted.

Both have reasons to do so, Sony just started after all this years, to have some profits with ps3 and VITA is doing really bad. Microsoft announced that they want to invest in pc gaming! They also announced Kinetic for pc.. Both had hardware failures and overpowered with money loss from the hardware and xbox is not selling much software.. so who knows. Both have the same chances..

I think the article is coming to the wrong conclusion. Nintendo will make a new console, well.. kinda obvious ha? :P That leaves Sony and Microsoft. Which of those two companies has the most money right now to invest and doesn't have many other priorities? I think that would be Microsoft. Although relatively new to the console market, they know what they are doing and haven't gone wrong so far. The Xbox360 is quite popular in some parts of the world and a new updated console will probably sell well, if they keep it reasonibly prized.

Sony on the other hand have a habit of overpricing hardware, in my opinion. 250-300 dollar/euro for a portable device (vita) is just too much for me. Same goes for the 3DS, I bought it after the price cut, the original price was just too high. 3ds sold rather bad at first, hence the price drop. The 3ds costs now around 170 euro, a big gap compared to the Vita despite being about a year older. The ps3 was overpriced aswell (not when it comes to the profit marge ofcourse, since the production costs were so incredibely high), in aspect to what gamers would pay for a console. The Vita is now even more expensive than a PS3, which seems odd as it's just a handheld console.

If one company would skip a console this gen, my guess it would be Sony. The newsarticle doesn't mean much though, it's rather vague. We'll see what the E3 has to offer.

#58569 PS4 and 720 more powerful than Wii U?

Posted by NovusRex on 30 January 2012 - 04:34 AM in Wii U Hardware

The new XBox will be more powerfull, because it'll come out atleast one year later. The new PS will be more powerfull, because it'll come out.... When will it come out? No one actually knows. Sony learned of their PS3 mistake though, I'm guessing they will keep the production costs relatively low this time. I wouldn't be suprised if it took even more than two years from now before a new Sony console will come out. I'm not too familiar with their statistics (moneywise), but do they have enough right now to invest in such an expensive project?

The Xbox, as said, will be more powerfull. The rumours state the same, but well.. They are rumours, so they don't mean that much to me. I'm thinking it will come out at the end of 2013, a year after the WiiU. The difference in power won't be much at all and barely noticable while gaming I think. It's nothing like the Wii compared to the Xbox/PS3,

I couldn't care less though, about which console will be the most powerfull one. It's fun to speculate, but it won't affect my gameplay experience in any way.

#58738 PS4 and 720 more powerful than Wii U?

Posted by NovusRex on 31 January 2012 - 04:48 AM in Wii U Hardware

It's good for Nintendo that there might not even be a new Xbox in 2013, though it isn't confirmed in that much words in that link you provided. Still, it does look good for Nintendo if they are able to deliver a good console with updated graphics. It might attract the Xbox en Ps fans, who want to update their console and can't wait for a new Sony or Microsoft system to come out. One year is something most "fanboys" can wait out, but two or more years? I doubt it. It looks to me Nintendo picked a great moment to release a new console.

#58913 PS4 and 720 more powerful than Wii U?

Posted by NovusRex on 01 February 2012 - 04:17 AM in Wii U Hardware

I don't think Microsoft can be blamed for the "demise" of pc-gaming, rather game developers and publishers themselves. Microsoft isn't known for making games and releasing them, all they do for the pc's is make a operating system which millions of people use. Microsoft made DirectX, which helps game developers a lot. Anyway, game publishers decide what games come to the PC and what not. It's a lot cheaper for them to port a console game to the pc, instead of making a new title of it's own. I don't mind that often really. It gave us great brands, such as Grand Theft Auto and Assassin's Creed. FPS are a whole different story though, I feel the pc must be the first priority here (which in most cases it isn't, sadly).

Then there is piracy. which is supposed to damaged the pc-gaming aswell. I don't buy this really, great titles will still sell well on the pc regardless of piracy. When a game has great multiplayer support, chances of buying an original game will increase aswell. It's all about quality really, and marketing ofcourse. I agree that the kinect stuff for pc and laptops seems a bit unnecessary, but perhaps people will like it nevertheless. I don't care much, aslong developers release great titles. Original titles! Creativity, I think that's the thing that destroys pc-gaming at the moment. Lack of creativty, that is. RTS games? Fast-paces FPS shooters like Quake? A high-quality flying simulator? Too many sequels and prequels and stuff nowadays. Battlefield 3, as much as I enjoy playing it, seems like quite an unoriginal game and very buggy aswell. Anno 2012, that should not have happened. The CoD series have gone downhill ever since CoD MW2, in my humble opinion. I still find Assassin's Creed 1 the best in the series, the atmoshpere was just right. Gritty, a bit ugly feeling and graphics really captured the great Medieval world. The sequels were too "pretty" for an Assassin's game (note: with this I don't mean the graphics quality itself, but more the way the environment is pictured) and Revelations didn't add much new stuff to the series, and the multiplayer. I still love it, but it's far, far from perfect.

Anyway, I'm getting rather offtopic here. Shame on me ^^, It's rater amusing though that most ports I actually enjoy. AssCreed is developed for the consoles in mind, not the pc. Fighting games like Street Fighter, likewise. GTA franchise. Battlefield 3, well.. I think that is made with consoles in mind, not the pc. Hence the lack of destruction. I still enjoy it though. CoD games are most definately made with consoles in mind, same with Crysis 2. With consoles in mind, I mena: First priority. In the end it makes sense, that's where the big money is. Still, pc-market is still a great market for game devlopers.
