#162376 23.1.2013 Nintendo Direct about new WiiU games

Posted by Stewox on 23 January 2013 - 08:37 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Looks like I was accurate with the reveal of Monolith Soft's game. :)

Sorry to hear that, man. I enjoyed reading your posts here and over on GAF. My GAF account actually got approved sometime last year, but I never made one single post to that forum and I don't plan to.....EVER. The Nintendo hate and trolling over there is ridiculous and quite embarrassing. The GAF mods should be ashamed of themselves too. Pathetic.

Anyway, welcome back! You'll be much better off here I'm sure.

I may even quote the top ones here for others to see, techy stuff:

http://www.neogaf.co...3&postcount=190

Digital Foundry on Eurogamer which did a piece herewhere they stated known stuff but they don't even know about this patent which I explained how it works in the below link, nor do they realize to note that the interaction uses two-way link to make up the image, which means the lag is so tiny considering the signal has to go throguh double processing for results to show, the pipeline is described in my above post, what nintendo has done here is engineering marvel.
http://www.neogaf.co...postcount=16527
Now this in the link, was the intial idea how a artificial-lag feature of the GamePad could work to make HDTV and Gamepad latency to sync. This is a purposely made lag ontop. So you see how Digital Foundry concludes because it doesn't know that GamePad latency is below 1ms, but it's the artificial lag added on top that makes the Gamepad "as fast as HDTV". The reason I said it was how it supposed to work, is because there is no such step in the setup of the WiiU as I watched unboxing and setup demos, there is probably another methods not yet known.

I wanted to contact Eurogamer to fix that story or to make a new one with some more research how Nintendo is making the HDTVs, i got no response and just forgot about it ... I still don't know how nintendo makes this now, because you don't have to point the GamePad to the HDTV to scan some images with it's onboard camera and yet people have reported the gamepad is synced. Not sure at all, I don't have WiiU yet.

Some of the GamePad wireless tech stuff, which nobody seemed to be doing research on so I made mostly the reveal, I was battling wikipedia a lot which tried to push their stupid bluetooth, I made a story on the range of it however I noticed it was some confusion, my point was it was WLAN and not the horsing bluetooth and I was successful, it took several months later when the official info got out to Polygon.com via Broadcom which confirmed IEEE 802.1 WLAN technology as it was in cooperation with Nintendo, finally a "verifiable" 3rd-party so wikipedia doubters could finially admit defeat.

There's also the stuff with 4A Games saying "WiiU CPU horrible": Which I immediately detected as a excuse statement to whatever, I wasn't sure but I was speculating between a media-type thing or some kind of outdated knowledge. I was trying hard to stop spreading of this false thing that infested quite a lot of discussions, so many lone guys not following anything then coming in the middle to point out that filthy "slow CPU" comment. Some time after, THQ responded with obvious points to a media-whorred response for an excuse. And recently even team Ninja dropped more cherries on top here
http://www.neogaf.co...&postcount=2578
I was spot on again. Yes. 4A GAmes was full of carp.

Lastly, here's this historic "Retro moves to new studio" thread. Priceless, I'm reading it now all over again hahahah.
http://64.91.233.250/forum/showthread.php?t=495654

---------------------------
The short story is that, you know as the nintendo hype stalled, and stupid me with a bit of time to spare I went on to post about other topics, got tangled in some worthless sony, disney discussions that led me unlucky situations and apparently "conspiracy" stuff which wasn't at all any conspiracy stuff, it was a debate I didn't made up, i think a lot of people just went nuclear and cried to the mods about it, I haven't said one single thing without checking it when talking, it was a simple link to a youtube video, it was definitely the peoples reaction and not the actual post. The other people were talking about it way before I got online. Those sheeple guys were attaking me, instead of the content i posted. All in All mostly i got what I wanted the WiiU Tech discussion, but it's a pity nontheless, for those E3 hypes and other stuff. I got an email writing just in case my objection is valid, wish me luck.

#162123 23.1.2013 Nintendo Direct about new WiiU games

Posted by Stewox on 23 January 2013 - 08:17 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Hey stew... Did gaf ban you? :(

Pile of junk I'll say. Complete waste. On my part as well, over something so little, sticking nose there where I shouldn't and I was suspicious but not really intentional, I didn't expect that kind of alarming response.

Other's went away with it with way more offenses and still not perm and actual intentional offenses.

Long story btw. And I'll object anyway, I don't think it was reasonable.

#114424 Gagged

Posted by Stewox on 02 October 2012 - 11:58 AM in Wii U Hardware

:P lols solly.
Folks was so adamant it's not blu-ray that I kept it alive in my head so that I could correct them once the console was in my hands.
IGN broke the news before I expected. :)

it's co-developed by panasonic and no, we're still not sure, IGN source and a poor wikipedia source based on speculation from a random tech site

And this is a MONSTROUS coincidence I checked this forum today and posted a reply just moments ago I wouldn't saw this otherwise.

#114415 Still Have Doubts About The Wii U GamePad's Touch Screen?

Posted by Stewox on 02 October 2012 - 11:39 AM in Wii U Hardware

Yeah, I think most the people with doubts were probably not huge Nintendo fans....because face it....we know what Nintendo is capable of :P

They know software very well, they know no-latency* is more important than everything else. That's why they also make the best consoles overall, the quality and reliability as well as hardware is exceptional, audio DSP will make so much sense when a lot of developer will finally get to work on nintendo tech.

#92941 Wii U CPU confirmed (by respected game producer) As weak.

Posted by Stewox on 10 July 2012 - 07:31 PM in Wii U Hardware

This is no confirmation of anything, it's pure developer communicated marketing spin. Please stop randomly guessing.

#92932 Wii U CPU confirmed (by respected game producer) As weak.

Posted by Stewox on 10 July 2012 - 06:41 PM in Wii U Hardware

Is a 200 mhz difference really going to make a difference?

Ofcourse not

This whole thread has been taken by a storm of "taking stuff out of context" again!

The clock speed does not matter, but the publis sees it as an big number that tells us "everythign", that's why they removed those aspects because it would lead to this kind of speculation in a much larger scale.

All in all, you have nothing to worry about, nothing has changed, the CPU is way more advanced than X360 has.

#92013 Wii U GPU specs confirmed

Posted by Stewox on 05 July 2012 - 04:47 AM in Wii U Hardware

Yeah, we've always had the idea of HD48XX as an add-in card, pre-release dev kits.

Where are people getting the specs from? The link only has features not performance. I can't see a mention of clock speed or actual performance of the wii u gpu.

Exactly .... we know it's modern tech, we know it's compute shaders and tesselation, possibly DX11, but all these discussions are more speculation-time killing, practically pointless.

#92001 Wii U GPU specs confirmed

Posted by Stewox on 05 July 2012 - 03:36 AM in Wii U Hardware

Seems like it's from the DevKit 4, DevKit5 feature spec bump, and there's totally going to be one more revision for retail before RTM.

#91817 Investor tweets fall conference

Posted by Stewox on 04 July 2012 - 06:50 AM in Wii U Hardware

299€$ give or take, it's ok, but i hope in € is less if they choose to let go of the smelly $ = € trend.

I want my F-Zero, and it better be as hard as GX and even more bonuses for core , i want hardcore difficulty, i want a whole mode for hardcore, that's why i played GX as much as zelda and metroid ... heck now that i remember, probably more because of multiplayer with my brother and other friends, F-Zero GX might really be my total (incl mp) the second most played game after smash bros. and that's a lot considering i did every single zelda and metroid release 300 hours EACH.

Please nintendo, to explain the philosophy, the difficulty played a major factor in the game, it will not be a worthy sequel if it does not provide higher difficulty modes and greater challenges, these things are pretty easy to implement technically but require research and analysis which still does NOT require large teams of resources, just put in harder to get unlockables and much harder modes for and all other little stuff and details that raise the overall quality.
  • very easy
  • easy
  • normal
  • hard
  • very hard
  • veteran
  • brutal
  • hardcore
  • nightmare
Ofcourse paying all the attention to blance these points, the jump from very hard to nightmare is small and carefully calculated in actual code parameters but the effect will be huge once a player tries to time his actions accordingly, the most difficult process of this is polishing and testing it works ... and with a need of some good player to actually prove it's possible to beat, still this is not that demaning on a studio in terms of resources.

... i will buy any addons for F-Zero and i will definitely be a core customer if relevant stuff is provided, i don't usually buy any DLC at all, and i salute nintendo's philosophy, but F-zero i love, but still addons are totally a BONUS-ONLY, the diffculty and the game quality, controls, response, are the primary thing.

Hopefully somebody sees this.

OP you silly guy, you should have notified this.

What about it?

It's confirmed, it wasn't sure if it's going to be used.

#89520 HD TV?

Posted by Stewox on 23 June 2012 - 11:27 AM in Wii U Hardware

A huge number of Cathode ray tube sets were HD because they were PC monitors which are high def but most CRT domestic sets were standard definition. Clearly though before flat panels took over there were premium CRT sets that were high def but they made up a tiny percentage of CRT sets sold.

THere you go I didn't even think of those ?

#89427 HD TV?

Posted by Stewox on 22 June 2012 - 12:14 PM in Wii U Hardware

I'm pretty sure he means Standard definition Television 480 i or 480p Which is non HD

Yes, that's a CRT

CRTs can be HD too, it's pretty small market but it's very well possible.

CRTs don't have pixels, the picture is painted on the screen, very good for both HD and SD. While LCDs have to have agressive processing methods to make a good SD image, my more expensive LED LCD is way better due to the high-quality LCD panel used than the cheal HDTV which has some crap panel from one of the bad samsung OEMs inside that makes SD look like crap.

#89417 HD TV?

Posted by Stewox on 22 June 2012 - 10:26 AM in Wii U Hardware

CRT != SDTV
My old 17 inch srt could do hd before it was a buzzword.

What is SDTV ?

You have your terms mixed up because SDTV is a PR term for 480i-480p signal standard.

720p is "HD Ready"
1080p is "Full HD"

Edit:

I've googled and there is no such thing as SRT TV .. it's nothing, unless your country had some special stuff in past that's probably not even worth as a base for the argument.

So where do you get the SRT from, maybe somewhere in the model info sticker, screenshot it and let us see.

#89254 HD TV?

Posted by Stewox on 21 June 2012 - 01:20 PM in Wii U Hardware

But my problem is, that I'm not allowed to play games in the living room, so I have to buy ANOTHER tv for upstairs for my xbox 360 and coming Wii U...

Is there a good reason why not ?

So is your mom.

What's your point?
HDMI ports aren't on SDTV's.

You were mentioning the Wii cable. That is not necessary.

And if you are for a debate about it:

http://www.avforums....y-crt-hdmi.html
http://bootstrike.com/Articles/LCDvsCRT/

Plus .. CRTs are very good for HD, the industry simply won't upgrade the tech because they're heavy and bulky and hurts eyes from radiation, that's the main reason, but they're the best of all in all picture and performance aspects, not sure if anything will prevail over CRTs in those aspects anytime soon.

#89004 HD TV?

Posted by Stewox on 20 June 2012 - 12:29 PM in Wii U Hardware

The Wii U console will use HDMI, or you can connect a Wii cable to it for SDTV's.

WiiU also uses Mutli AV that supports Composite and Component too.

I need a HD tv too. Just for the better experience. But being a jobless 16 year old, they are quite expensive... And even if I had a job they're still expensive lol. My parents are only just now looking for one... for the living room... I'll need one for my own gaming room.

Please, tell them they should not go with a cheap LG hdtv... and even Samsung cheap ones such as LE40C540 and anything below that series, it won't matter what kind of graphics you have in the console, the picture will look crap, i have 2 HDTVs in the house, this one is non-LED the other one below is LED backlight.

Tell them to take a look at this one from Samsung: UE40D6750 ... you won't be disappointed and you avoid the panel type lottery with this model, it cotst just above 1100 €, cheap, i got refurbished one for 750€ :D

#87635 Wii U May Not Have a Built-In Storage

We knew this already loooong time ago.

#86920 Wiiu Cpu just as powerful as the ps3-360 and its Gpu 1.5 x stronger? (Please no)

Posted by Stewox on 12 June 2012 - 01:03 AM in Wii U Hardware

Just because i don't want further confusion, I will say that with what i've seen slightly, some of you are completely correct about the gaming stuff.

All of the 3r-party games are ports, most* ... Aliens Colonial marines included. These games are only scratching the surface of what's possible on WiiU.

Rayman Legends might be original, but who knows, time will tell, after it get out.

#86640 Wii U Will Feature Friend Codes

The topic should said

WiiU will not feature mandatory achievements

Horray!

#86516 Rumor: WiiU Dev-Kit specs leaked ?

Posted by Stewox on 10 June 2012 - 11:22 PM in Wii U Hardware

But Nintendo officially says its based off a multi core IBM Power processor, which tells me they aren't using PowerPC.

If that, the better

#86515 Wiiu Cpu just as powerful as the ps3-360 and its Gpu 1.5 x stronger? (Please no)

Posted by Stewox on 10 June 2012 - 11:14 PM in Wii U Hardware

I won't even participate remotely in this, though with exception of this post.

Not your fault guys, but this rumor is BS.

I won't waste time reading all the pages either.

#86513 Wii U pretty much confirmed to be able to support Unreal Engine 4

Posted by Stewox on 10 June 2012 - 11:12 PM in Wii U Hardware

The writer has shown her ineptitude.
Engines like Unreal don't require power, they require a specific feature set.
The xbox 360's graphics card does not offer some of the new features Unreal Engine 4 will offer, same with the Wii and PS3.
This confirms nothing.

What does confirm it though, is that it's using an r700 series, which should have all the features of direct x 11 which should be enough.

They aren't plasting r700 on, it's definitely updated for the 2012, I do not beleive it's GCN tech, but at least shadermodels, opengl and other support stuff is latest.

It's getting more silly by the minute, it was obvious to me Unreal 4 will be on WiiU, but UE4 is nothing special, I want to see id studio for cry sakes, should be out soon.

#84875 Rumor: WiiU Dev-Kit specs leaked ?

Posted by Stewox on 06 June 2012 - 03:25 AM in Wii U Hardware

I fear that too.

Sorry for being "stupid" Stewox, the specs just seemed like that to me, but I'm not tech expert.

Yep, that means you shouldn't be commenting on it, it dilutes the thread and makes it questionable even more, It's a psychological effect, doesn't matter how valid is the info, if the majority goes either side the people will just follow or at least lean into a bias.

There were other guys who admitted it, and it's not a bad thing, what i'm trying here is in good faith and cause that benefits all of you, to get most accurate assesment, but If i have to worry and defendy my self all the time by explaining basics to many guys that obviously derails ad distracts the main objective.

[/list]Half of 3 = 1.5
NAND isn't RAM, and it's in a separate section.

I am talking about the rumored 2 GB (with spec bump)

Secondly, i've misunderstood your post.

Thirdly the post is still valid if we disregard your part.

Forthly, i have found new ideaman posts that he provides info that makes this problem obsolete.

What ideaman wrote is that he found out about the separate NAND, and the whole thing is probably for STORAGE not for application operation ... so no OS will not take 512MB, and neither ther would be any limit that high. As he wrote it before , everyone was crying on the interwebs about RAM reserve.
