#156741 What's your favorite gaming controller?

Posted by Stephen on 06 January 2013 - 01:32 AM in General Gaming

I really like the GameCube controller, Its ergonomic design is flawless. However, for precision gaming, I use a Logitech rumblepad 2, I really dig the square shaped anolog sticks never seen before, and for me, Arching your thumb is better that moving it side to side, And its pretty cheap too.

#157950 So i turned on my Wii U...

Posted by Stephen on 09 January 2013 - 01:07 PM in Wii U Hardware

So i FINALLY got my SDTV cable in the mail. I connected my wii u to the TV and...

The ON light started blinking blue, and the TV showed black. The gamepad told me to sync wii u and tv, but that did nothing.

So then I learned that my wii u is broken. I've been waiting for it since launch day

Sorry to hear that
Yeah, Its dead. I had the exact same problem, There's no way to fix it, and I had to return it. Similar to the Red ring of death I suppose. Its being reported Quite allot with early batch systems. Are you able to get a replacement?

#158589 Rumour Racing Game

Posted by Stephen on 11 January 2013 - 04:35 PM in Wii U Games and Software

well, Lucid games is made up of ex-Bizarre employees, and Bizzare is known for its racing games. Lucid have a teaser for a new racing game, which includes a picture of London which seems to be high quality (Console or PC), and lucid say on there page to have "won" a new ip, and Nintendo says they have new ip's coming in the future, The studio said in a press release a while back that there currently talking to several publishers regarding potential projects.
Probably a load of rubbish, but we can dream can't we?

since Nintendo of Europe is based in Germany, the law effects the whole of Europe. Not Nintendo's fault but they say they are currently trying to work around it.

#159473 The Next-Gen is Going to be a Beast!

Posted by Stephen on 15 January 2013 - 11:00 AM in General Gaming

"It is expected to be based on Windows 8 as well" but.... I don't like windows 8
Anyway, back to the pointless argument, If your going to say "The Wiiu isnt selling anything" and "Nothing can save you precious Nintendo now" you could at least back it up with some facts or care to elaborate on why you think nothing can save Nintendo. I don't know if your trolling or just stupid.

#160556 CVG Rumor: Sony to abandon DualShock design for PS4, unveiling PS4 in weeks

Posted by Stephen on 18 January 2013 - 12:16 PM in General Gaming

They're going to keep the dualshock, but they are goi g to make it different in some way. Probably going to add a screen, and fanboys are going to say they have been developing it before the wii u was announced even though Nintendo started working on the Wii U in 2007.

I thought it was 2004

#162876 Disc error 150-1031

Posted by Stephen on 25 January 2013 - 08:40 AM in Wii U Hardware

Looks like a unreadable disc, I found this for the error code. "I called Nintendo this afternoon, gave them the error code, they said they hadn't had this error before, and was referred to Ubisoft, who published Assassin's Creed 3 because they thought it was a disc issue. I called Ubisoft, gave them the error code, they said it was a generic error code for an unreadable disc. They then told me to either go to the store where I purchased the game and exchange it or I could use their warranty to have Ubisoft replace the defective disc. I went to Best Buy and exchanged it for another copy, came home, put the game in, and the cutscene where it kept giving me the error no longer gives me the error. So essentially, its now fixed.
Probably best to just replace the disc.

#165822 Updating before every game

Posted by Stephen on 02 February 2013 - 02:26 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Ok so I've had my Wii U for a week now and I'm impressed but I went to show it to friends last night and I put Nintendo land in for the first time and it said "updating" it took 20 mins to come on. Am I to expect this with every new game I buy? and what exactly is it updating?

You can skip it if you want.
If I'm correct it adds miiverse into the game.

#173130 Are things really this dire?

Posted by Stephen on 19 February 2013 - 02:24 PM in Wii U Hardware

I had a few friends over last night that had not previously played Wii U......

Guess what?

They were blown away by Zombie U, Batman and Super Mario Bros U.

They both kept saying "This is gonna change games."

Seeing friends reactions to the systems and it's unique features is always a thrill for me.

The Wii U will sell a ton of systems over time. This almost always happens at every launch (and the following 4 - 6 months after) with every system.

Once more 1st & 3rd party games start filling up the shelves we'll see a huge increase in public awareness of how amazing this console really is.
:)

I also had some freinds round, We played ZombiU, Nssbu and Nintendoland.
I got mixed messages, one of the completely hated the thing and showed no interest in what the gamepad could do. he kept on saying its not that big of a jump from this gen.
the other really enjoyed the game ZombiU and could not get over the gamepad and asymmetrical gameplay.
The other was completely neutral in the whole situation and just enjoyed the game, not disappointed but he wasn't blown away by it.
I really can't begin to predict the future of Wii U. there seems to be allot of mixed messages around it, some people saying it will sell as much as the wii did, and other's saying it will flop.

#175533 Gaming in general seems to have run out of creative ideas

Posted by Stephen on 24 February 2013 - 01:37 PM in General Gaming

Good point, They are allot of the same stale games and so many fps to even name. With allot of sequels too. But you can't deny the fact that new and creative games are still coming out.
A few games that I can name that have come out over the past years that are innovative.
Journey
Braid
Portal
Terraria
vvvvvv
Nano assault neo
Frozen synapse
Mirrors Edge
and Watch dogs is coming out soon.

I Don't think people have run out of ideas. I think its that developers are SCARED to put out innovative games on the market. there afraid that it wont sell.
If a company goes out and wants to create a totally new game, The costs are going to be extremely high, so imagine what would happen if the game doesn't sell, The company might be forced to close down. There's been a decrease in innovative games because of this. Just look back at the first generation of video game consoles. Due to low costs and low capabilities of computers, a single programmer could develop a full game. However, increasing computer processing power and heightened consumer expectations has made it impossible for one single developer to produce a mainstream game. The average development price of game has rose from 1M–4M in 2000 to over 5M in 2006 to over 20M in 2010. Companies aren't going to risk that amount of money!

I think ZombiU is also creative, I don't think ZombiU as being that much of a fps either. Its more of a survival horror game.

#176447 WiFi Conection Problems

most likely firewall issues. Try to manually set up your internet connection. Its a pain, but if you do it right it will most likely work.

#176702 Anime Discussion

Posted by Stephen on 26 February 2013 - 01:58 PM in The Café

bumo

I have a complaint about 8th grade syndrome or whatever the name of the anime was.
It was good, and had a great ending for a Japanese story.
However, the gaping plothole they opened up for no reason at the end was just silly.
The guy moved to the furthest high school he could and she just happened to follow him?
How did she live above him twice?
Do they commute to school 18 hours a day or what?

you mean Chuunibyou demo Koi ga rainbowai! I finished watching it Just the other day. I thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that my avatar is now Rikka ^.^
one of the best character design and pairing. Well worth the little bit of frustration During the middle of the series. But I get the feeling it was rushed at the end, a few questions to be answered. 9/10

I He lived in the same apartment, I don't think he moved, And I think Rikka Was always above him, but was unknown to him, which was strange. However, I believe that Rikka found out what high school he was going to, and she followed him, Because She looked up to him, I remember something about Rikka following him all along. It was only from the high school onward that he changed.
Anyone else care to clear this up?

Yeah the only real explanation is if she's a weird stalker.
In which case, there goes her charm.

she used to inspiration of the dark flame master to cope with her farther's death. That's
why she followed him because she relied on him to cope with the death, he was a role model. Another episode would have been good to clear this up.

#176719 Wii U gamepad for $140?

It will probably come down when they start to sell them in shops

Yeah, which is so stalkerish and creepy :(

I didn't really get that impression but I see were your coming from.

I'm sure re-watching the series would clear up everything, And I'm sure I will some time, However, I don't have time for that at the moment, I'm currently watching Hyouka and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Its underrated.
