#64268 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Jakester897 on 01 March 2012 - 04:40 PM in Wii U Hardware

Definitely $350. That's the perfect price point. It's cheap, but it's profitable for Nintendo, and with what that tablet controller can do it's worth it.

#64259 Wii U Wishlist

Posted by Jakester897 on 01 March 2012 - 03:29 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Given that there is a Paper Mario game coming out for the 3DS, maybe they'll switch it up and release a Mario & Luigi game for the Wii U.
Other than that, I'd enjoy Battalion Wars and a fourth Pikmin in addition to the third, as well as a downloadable title featuring 2D Zelda gameplay in HD.

#64247 ARE YOU GUYS EXCITED?

Posted by Jakester897 on 01 March 2012 - 02:06 PM in Wii U Hardware

Heck, yeah, I'm excited! I expect plenty of new things to admire about the Wii U, as well as more launch title confirmation (though that might wait until E3).

This sounds like a great idea. There should be a place within the world for Ephraim's Satellaview idea to be implemented.

#63927 Once the Wii U's release date is announced...

Posted by Jakester897 on 27 February 2012 - 08:12 PM in Site News and Feedback

I think I would like it, but others seem to be against it. Maybe we should do a poll.

#63925 Pikmin 3 should have a first-person camera mode.

Posted by Jakester897 on 27 February 2012 - 08:01 PM in Wii U Games and Software

You're probably right, but you could get a lot of information or plain eye candy from seeing things closer up and above you, and other games don't seem to have a problem with the lack of awareness.
Plus, I likely won't be using this myself. It's just a suggestion.

Edit: Oops. I forgot to mention that the first-person view would be entirely optional.

#63917 Pikmin 3 should have a first-person camera mode.

Posted by Jakester897 on 27 February 2012 - 07:05 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Just think about this for a second. While most situations are more adapted to the same view from the other two games, a first-person view could really immerse the player during combat sequences. Imagine seeing a Bulborb up close or chucking PIkmin from the viewpoint of Olimar. With the Wii U controller, this works twice as well; one screen could display a third-person view while the other displays what the captain is seeing, in addition to gyroscope control.

I mean, this mod is almost halfway there regardless. What do you guys think?

#63827 Super mario galaxy U

Posted by Jakester897 on 27 February 2012 - 02:21 PM in Wii U Games and Software

While that would fit well, I don't think it will happen. My guess is that Nintendo will come up with a whole new theme for the game, or make a SM64 2 (though with a different name). Knowing Nintendo, it's going to be good regardless.

#63804 Once the Wii U's release date is announced...

Will there be some kind of timer on this site counting down the days until it is released? I've seen similar timers on other websites, so I'm sure it will be possible.

Granted, but every device you could play it on vanishes from the face of the earth.

I wish the Earth was a cube.

#63714 Could the Wii remote be the primary control option?

Posted by Jakester897 on 26 February 2012 - 04:31 PM in Wii U Hardware

That was to showcase the fact you can continue playing on the controller, and also you can use your current Wiimotes.

Yeah, this does seem the most likely.

#63713 Wii U controller original design leaked

Posted by Jakester897 on 26 February 2012 - 04:24 PM in Wii U Hardware

I like the new one better. It just seems like the button placement is better for someone with small hands like me. Also, I don't really care about the analog sticks becoming circle pads. Depending on the game, each one has its pros and cons.

Though it would be pretty sick if they put circle pads above the buttons in addition to analog sticks below the buttons.

#63704 RUMOR: Nintendo considering renaming the Wii U

Posted by Jakester897 on 26 February 2012 - 04:03 PM in Wii U Hardware

Well, let's look at the past to predict the new name:
Nintendo Entertainment System: It's an entertainment system that is made by Nintendo.
Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Like the above, but it has 'super' in front of it to show that it's a sequel to the first.
Nintendo 64: It's a 64-bit Nintendo console.
Gamecube: It's a cube that plays games.
Wii: A corruption of "we" or the prefix of "remote." It might also have several other meanings. Really, it's quite ambiguous to the average consumer.
X: A console that streams the game to its tablet-like controller.

If I had to guess, I would say Nintendo will keep the Wii U name like they did for the SNES, or change the name to something involving streaming the game.

#63703 Could the Wii remote be the primary control option?

Posted by Jakester897 on 26 February 2012 - 03:53 PM in Wii U Hardware

While this does seem very unlikely because of how important the new controller is to the Wii U, something caught my eye a few nights ago.

Watch the trailer one more time. Right near the beginning, the boy says "okay." He then places the Wiimote down, then picks up the new controller to resume playing. Now, this could just be that he preferred the Wii remote, that Nintendo wanted to show the whole "switching" concept better, or even just an overlooked detail, and this does sound very stupid, but we won't know until the holidays roll around....

Granted, but nobody enjoys it, including you.

I wish I could write good poems.

#63382 Hello, fellow Nintendo fans

Posted by Jakester897 on 24 February 2012 - 08:40 PM in Introduction Central

Mostly, I'm looking forward to first-party titles, especially Pikmin 3. I also am excited for Ninja Gaiden 3, Ghost Recon, and Darksiders II. Most importantly, though, I want to see what the Wii U has besides its upcoming library, like the menu or UWare titles. I'm a little concerned about the price, though. Hopefully, it doesn't climb past $400.

Thanks. I sure hope to make some new acquaintances.

#63373 Are Video Games becoming too real?

Posted by Jakester897 on 24 February 2012 - 07:44 PM in General Gaming

While games like tactical shooters (which there are many of) and sports games (which there are also many of) have acceptably realistic graphics, any game that is unrealistic should look unrealistic. I don't want to see Mario's sweat marks as he jumps throughout the level or the individual dust and dirt marks on Link's tunic.

Maybe it's just me, but I prefer frame rate over actual graphics quality...

Granted, but you get fatal cancer from playing too much.

I wish I had a dog.

Granted. You get an invincible 3DS that can withstand blowing up, can reflect pee back to where it came from, doesn't become self aware, doesn't get taken from you, doesn't have broken buttons, has unlimited battery life, has a tacking device so you can find it if it is lost, has fully functional 3D, exist in an era where 3D exists, has a working card slot, isn't behind a impenetrable force field as a display model with a creepy smiley face under it that said "Hi GameCube", doesn't get boring, and doesn't have you suck all the fun out of the game, filling your room with a deadly neurotoxin, but it is behind a impenetrable force field as a display model with a creepy smiley face under it that said "Hello, GameCube"

I wish I was a millionaire for the rest of my life.

Hey, guys. How are you?

I hope my stay at these forums will be a good one. I really can't stand waiting for the Wii U to come out. I honestly think my patience is unusually low...
