As far as the three new IPs go, I predict:

Miyamoto's new IP

A Monolith soft RPG

A downloadable game

Although, if downloadable games are not included here, I'd say it's a Retro title, though I'd rather they work on starfox or Zelda.

My guesses are:
Wii U Sports (golf, baseball from e3 2011)
Wii U Play (catch mii, battle mii, etc. from e3 2011)
??? Miyamoto's new game ???


Hopefully they don't include Wii ___games as new IPs!

OK, so, there's been some discussion about when the Wii U will launch. As someone who plans on getting it at launch, I'm pretty interested about this. Personally, I think it'll launch in either late august-September. I have 2 reasons for that.

1. They were trying to launch it in 2011. It was just pushed back because they wanted to focus on the 3DS in 2011. If they were already making plans to launch it in 2011, having another 8 months to get everything ready seems like it'd be pretty simple.

2. This is my main one, though. Assassin's creed and medal of honor are both confirmed for an October release, and both are confirmed to come to the Wii U. Because of this, it makes me think that Nintendo would want to release their system before these games start rolling out, so they won't be late to the party. If they launch it a month before that, they'd have a steady stream of content between their launch lineup and the November lineup (which is always awesome).

That's why I think it'll launch in august or September. When do you think it'll launch?

I'd prefer to have a great launch and a steady stream of content coming out afterwards rather than a spectacular launch and then nothing.

Retro is probably Nintendo's most renowned first party studio that isn't EAD (they created Metroid prime Trilogy and Donkey Kong Country Returns for the few that don't know). I'm curious what you guys think they'll make next!

I'm thinking a Star Fox or maybe a Zelda. Though, with the recent rumor that Nintendo has 3 new IPs in development, it makes me wonder if Retro's working on one of them. I'd like them to make DKCR2 first, honestly, but that's definitely not happening right now :( Anywho, what do you guys think?

I get the impression MH does much better on handhelds then on consoles. Plus production values are lower. I doubt we'll be seeing one on any future consoles, just a lot of different games for the Vita and 3DS.

Nintendo filed a trademark titled "The Last Ranger". While it isn't confirmed, it's looking pretty believable to me. I'm pretty interested in what it could be; a Pokemon ranger sequel? A new IP? Maybe even a Dillon's rolling western sequel! What do you guys think?

I never played the first one, but have been following this game to death (pun intended) and am going to get a Wii U at launch to play this game immediately. Like Joshua, it seems like a game I would really enjoy.

How about they let the publishers decide? Some games deserve to cost $60, while others only deserve to cost 50. I think publishers should decide for every individual game.

The original WiiWare service had a lot of hidden gems in it's library. The few I've gotten have been incredible. We already know about two WiiWare games almost definitely getting sequels for the Wii U's online shop (Runner 2 and Toki Tori 2), but after the recent rumored list for the U-shop that has even more sequels to WW games (Fluidity: Toxic, for example) it made me wonder what other games should get sequels.

I want Motoheroz 2 and Jett rocket 2, personally. What about you guys?

If Nintendo makes their store better, I wouldn't be surprised if the lost winds developers decide to give it another go. I don't think kinectimals was very well received. :P

As tron said..... A LOT.

The first thing they need to do is seal the deal with the 3DS. Announce tons of release dates for already announced games, and then announce a couple of AAA releases for the holiday season and beyond. We know they have at least Mario up their sleeve in that regard; they probably have at least one or two more they're ready to announce.

But the big thing is the Wii U, obviously. Specs need to be heavily detailed. A ton of first party games need to be shown, some big name franchises (like Mario) and some new ones. Third party games need to be a big part of the press conference; show off actual trailers for some of them, and not just a video showcasing a dozen or so of them (though they can do that as well). The launch lineup needs to be shown, not just hinted at. Have a roundtable discussing the online features and games, showing that Nintendo's truly getting aggressive in the online space.

There's probably something else important, but I dunno what that would be.

Totally! The two biggest third party games Ninty needs to get on the Wii U this year are RE6 and GTA5. They'll beg capcom to put it on the Wii U if they have to.
