#223187 depressing DRM question

Posted by Alianjaro on 17 June 2013 - 07:02 PM in Wii U Hardware

Nintendo has already announced their solution to the 'used games problem'

And I quote: 'If you dont want  customers selling your games, make better games'.

Yup, that's a great answer IMO. But I think they're actually answering to M$ there, not actually teasing a plan for the future.

#223183 The Wii U should have been as powerful as the Xbox one.

Posted by Alianjaro on 17 June 2013 - 06:56 PM in Wii U Hardware

I'd rather have a SLIGHTLY less powerful system but one that has a good reputation. XBONE is being hated a lot. I don't know if it's deserved that much.

#223069 Game & Wario or Pikmin 3?

Posted by Alianjaro on 17 June 2013 - 01:57 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I wouldn't say to automatically skip the first one, I actually enjoyed it a lot more than 2 just because it had the time limit, although I'm aware many people hate it for some reason. :P
@OP:If you can avoid the bad ending in Pikmin 1 then it'll be fine. (Has bad, good, and perfect endings) It's one of those "easy to learn, hard to master" games, very easy to get into.

Couldn't agree more. And yea, I was talking about skipping the first one because it's not necessary to learn the general game mecs. Other than that, the first one as well is a godly game.

#223066 Sony's Secret DRM Plan same as Xbox One?

Posted by Alianjaro on 17 June 2013 - 01:53 PM in General Gaming

DRM may save you from piracy but in the long run a dev/system will lose way way way more money then it gets. Just watch.

Yup, I agree, but keep in mind there are many many uninformed customers. Keep that in mind. That's why I'm not sure of how it will affect their income.

#223063 Interesting stuff to notice about Super Smash Bros Wii U

Posted by Alianjaro on 17 June 2013 - 01:51 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Sakurai said that the next Smash Bros will be slower than Melee but fafaster than Brawl.

http://nintendo3dsbl...rawl-and-melee/

Thanks for providing the link. It's interesting. I think it's a good thing. I mean, the main reason why I lose fights in Brawl is by miscalculating a jump, or stuff like that.

I know what you are trying to say and I comepletely agree to you Villager. I also don't want to say why.

I strongly agree to you Villager.

But but but what is it about? I feel noob.

#222791 ACNL fruit trees

There's also a small chance to get fruits if you send a gift to another villager. He might reply to you with a fruit attached to his letter.

#222788 Sony's Secret DRM Plan same as Xbox One?

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 03:16 PM in General Gaming

My guess is that Sony was considering it then backed out knowing they could crush the competition if they didn't implement it.

This is highly possible, but at the same time, crushing the competition would steal fans from M$, but in the long run, no DRM would still mean losing money for Sony. M$ would fail, but Sony as well, and that's not a viable option neither for them. I'm not sure what decision is best, I might go look up some info to calculate that...

#222784 Zelda U to contain a bit of Skyrim

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 03:05 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I think they just meant the open worldness of those type of games. I think they Zelda Wii U is gonna be a massive scale open world adventure. Imagaine Zelda ina world like X(I mean the openness of it). Its going to be jaw dropping.

Exactly my thoughts. An open world Zelda would be incredible O.O

I simply hope it aims high. I haven't seen a Nintendo game aim really high for a long time (since Xenoblade and some indies).

#222783 Interesting stuff to notice about Super Smash Bros Wii U

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 02:59 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yes! I agree 200% with Fox's design. I despised his Brawl design with a passion.

Really? Melee's was even worse IMO. lol I've simply been hoping for a StarFox Adventure design or skin...

This game will most likely be faster paced than Brawl.

Why? You mean, knowing the fact that Sakurai is listening to his fanbase?

#222729 Sony's Secret DRM Plan same as Xbox One?

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 12:32 PM in General Gaming

Interesting thoughts. Some might say you're going too far into it, but I think not. Especially since we know they're in the music/entertainement industry. They might have just taken the opportunity to crush M$ during E3. But honestly, the fact we will have to pay for online for PS4 is disgusting.

#222725 I think I know why Nintendo isn't getting 3rd parties...

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 12:22 PM in Wii U Games and Software

There's too much EA references on this topic. You can't take EA as a valid example since what they've been doing since the Wii U's release. These half-games EA has made and released are not representative of Nintendo's third party situation.

#222720 Electronic Arts will resume full support for Wii U when it "becomes a viable

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 12:14 PM in Wii U Hardware

Well, it is a business, an people need to be paid, so they need to make money. Why does no one get that here?

Because, although this is what a business is about, it has to show otherwise. You think Samsung is about making Earth a better place with technology? It's not, it's for money, but do they tell you that? No, they don't. It's something you can't say to customers.

This is how business goes (usually):

"I sell TVs to let people stay informed and for their entertainement."

True meaning:

"I sell TVs to make money."

Saying it the second way is a big turn off to most consumers.

Hey, if that helps, I can confirm this source is trustworthy and that the translation is overall legit.

Shigeru is still talented, he just gotta focus more on other series, such as F-Zero and his other masterpieces.

#222707 Interesting stuff to notice about Super Smash Bros Wii U

Thank you for spending your time writing this post:

Though I must add that when Mega man throws his metal blade at mario, he loses coins... what's that about?

PIC:

Spoiler

Mario wants to be the new Sonic?

Thanks man!

Oh and for Mario, it might just be a teaser for coin battle, or simply that we're associating coins to Mario. I wouldn't overthink that, but who knows?

#222666 Interesting stuff to notice about Super Smash Bros Wii U

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 09:08 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Hey! Haven't posted any topics lately, I'm sorry -- Anyway, as you probably know, I'm a big fan of Super Smash, and, as we kept talking about the game on the community, I noticed few things that I think might be interesting to share with you.

(I know there are many SSB topics on every boards, but I'm this one deserves a topic of his own.)

1. Design

Notice how many characters got an upgrade visually or a revamp? And I'm not talking about HD...

  • Link's design is not like anything we've seen (although somewhat close to SS' one, but that's arguable).

This has been posting by our friend Falconberg on the E3 board on this topic: http://thewiiu.com/t...n-ssb4-trailer/

  • Animal Crossing's Villager was introduced to the series with his old design, which has been revamped in New Leaf. Could this suggest that New Leaf's design is only provisional and not definitive? I don't think so. That makes me question that weird decision. One other possibility is that they chose this design because it's more representative of the series as a whole.

New Leaf

SSB's ACV.

  • Notice how Fox's design is near Command's one. It might suggest that future SF's might take that design as the definitive one, whuch I disapprove, but that's just me.

character-fox.pngzicon_fox_narrowweb__300x574,0.jpg

  • Samus' design is way cooler, but no need to go further into detail for that.

2. Stages

  • Boxing Ring from Little Mac. I would be suprised to see him in the game as a playable character though.
  • Skyloft from "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword". Really similar to Delfino Plaza in SSBB.
  • Train from Spirit Tracks. (I called this one more than a year ago on the forum. Exactly as they showed it, I'm so happy lol).

3. Sakurai's decision

He removed tripping. I know we're all really happy about that, but it shows something really important: Sakurai is listening to his fans. That's the main reason for the inclusion of Megaman in the roster. This might as well suggest that Skull Kid might be included (believe it or not, it's a very popular character).

4. Physics

It's too early to say, but as you might know, Melee's physics were different from Brawl. Melee's was faster, and gravity was more infuent. Brawl's were more aerial, allowing mid-air fights really easily. Brawl's physics were as much hated as loved, so I'd say it might be between both styles, time will tell.

Gah please, my body wasn't ready to handle that sentence. *Fangasms*

#222646 Game & Wario or Pikmin 3?

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 07:57 AM in Wii U Games and Software

So I haven't been playing my wii u as much as i wanted recently. And at first i wasn't planning on getting any of these games but now i'm thinking about getting one of them but I have a problem...

Game & Wario - Looks like a cheap Nintendoland Party game and Multiplayer. (Want a game i can play on my own aswell)

Pikmin 3 - Haven't played the first 2 and may be too complicated for me.

Which one should I get or should I go for a game that is already out? Or should I wait a few months not playing wii u very much until the big hitters come out.

Get Pikmin 3. If you want to play those before, skip the first one, it's not worth playing it entirely. Also, it,s not heavily story-based, so it won't be too difficult for you to play the game. And always keep in mind, if it's too hard for you, it's too hard for everybody. Pikmin is a nerf-wrecking game. That's why it's so damn godly.

#222644 Metroid or Donkey Kong Country Was a Hard Decision- Retro

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 07:52 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I would have to argue with that, 2D and 3D platforming is drastically different.  2D tends to focus more on speed and pure platforming.  3D is not as fast and requires more exploration and a depth to things.

The challenge in 2D platformers is the challenging raw platforming.  3D is constructed differently and feels like it includes an ascent in all levels (to some tower or mountain).

It's way harder to make a challenging 2D platformer without making it frustrating than to make a 3D action/platformer game. That's why sidescrollers tend to be horribly easy.

#222642 Smash Bros 3DS and Smash Bros Wii U are the final names

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 07:41 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I would have liked a better name, but hey, it can change name. Xenoblade Chronicles was called "Monado: Beginning of the World", so it's never too late. You might think I'm weird, but I like the artstyle for the titles, so I could actually care less.

#222641 Possible Zelda U art style leak in SSB4 trailer

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 07:34 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Well, am I the only one who noticed that there's a quite noticeable resemblance between the 2011 tech demo Link and SSB's one? I agree with OP, I think that it's how Link is gonna look like in future Zeldas. It's not confirmed, it's not sure, but the chances are there. Anyway, Link's design cannot change all that much (talking about adult Link), that's why I think it's highly likely that we'll see this design for the next game, or at least something really close to it.

#222637 Does Nintendo need to release a new original game series?

Posted by Alianjaro on 16 June 2013 - 07:25 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Nintendo regularly makes new IP's, they're just not advertised as much and never sell as much as their bigger framchises.

Exactly. The main problem is that they don't seem confident when it comes to new IPs, and that's why they end up rehashing the same series. And some flagship IPs like Metroid and StarFox, along with F-Zero, get burried alive.

I know the fact I just included Metroid here is controversial, but that's what Other M seemed to be doing to the franchise to many fans.

#222443 Does Nintendo need to release a new original game series?

Naah... They just need to leave Mario for a second and focus on Metroid, Zelda and StarFox.

#222314 Zelda U to contain a bit of Skyrim

The one at E3 2011. plz

It looks like that's what it's gonna look like.

#222312 Is there a Animal Crossing for Wii U?

Posted by Alianjaro on 15 June 2013 - 12:35 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Well, when Nintendo released the "Super Smas Bros. For 3DS and Wii U" trailer, they said "Villager comes to town". That was on the Wii U part of the trailer. Does that mean that we will have a Animal Crossing for Wii U?

Lucario didnt make a concrete appearance on the Wii, yet was on the roster. Point is, it's likely that we get a AC on Wii U, but the fact the villager is included in the game is in no way whatsoever a hint about it.

#222307 Will Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros be 5 players?

Posted by Alianjaro on 15 June 2013 - 12:31 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I don't think they will make a 5 players mode for SSB. It didn't seem to be designed for that.
