#75579 WiiU tablet changes and new tech surprise!

Posted by Rvaisse on 28 April 2012 - 12:53 PM in Wii U Hardware

Because you need both to use it traditionally and alla johnny Lee.
Saving money is ok, but adding precision to motion tracking and a new way of tracking you for a few bucks is better!
The Gyro only apply to the pad ,Not your actual position to the tv and that is new!
If you imagine a3D space you can see whats around yourself via the upad screen, moving it, looking around ( using gyro) And see another view on the TV that match your position in this 3D space ( using johnny lee tech)
Plus we know theres another sensor bar on the face of the upad, so, now imagines the possibilites with 3 new updated sensor bar !

Power is not a problem, and ir tech could have make progress...
Lifetime is ok, like on wiimotes!

Try to find another hole this one is patched lol ^^

The only problem is that's not how the Wiimote works at all, and the gyro can enable Johnny-Lee-like motion tracking already.

Wiimote have the IR camera in them, the sensor bar has the IR LED's.
Gyro detects movement in 3D space easily.

Yes and i think the wii upad will habe both, ir camera and ir leds!
The gyro gives you the position of the object in space , NOT the real position in your living room!! I mean on the left ot the tv, far from tv etc... With it you can move in your living room and see in a real 3d space thru your tv and the tablet

You meen tablet may have this?
(Sorry if link doesn't work typing on android . Just copy in browser)

Yep that kind of thing plus the wii u is able to locate your position and stream the good image to the tablet like if youre visiting a virtual space

Ir led and ir camera are on both, and the wii u power on the one it needs only when it needs it!
And ir led is not a powersucker at all!
Do you really think that adding 2 ir led would bother the upad wich is powered to run a stream wireless data and a screen???!

This tech demo is 4 years old, do u imagine what nintendo could do with this with new hardware, motioncapting touchscreen....its huge, its really cheap to make and it could bring a lot, just turn the tablet nto glasses and i'll really fight Ganondorf in my living room

The magic of having 2 screens synchronized on your move and location is just reaaly immersive.
Next step is having these screens right in front of your eyes, i cant wait for the day,ill really be in the game, maybe next gen?

The IR LED for what you want it to do would waste so much power, I'd LoL.
Also, it'd burn out in seconds.

Ir leds wasting power...are you kidding? Burn out in seconds....??....

With the leak of Rayman Legends we get a new look at the wii u tablet, the web started to compare the tablet we saw et E3 and the one in the video.
Everyoneone noticed this black area at the back of the controller. Is that a camera? An ir port? Some rubber?
Today An insider on a website tells us that its just rubber to hide a port.
Well...thats really nicely cut rubber, with round corners, beautifully integrated on the pad.. No?

I bet that is really something, a wii sensor exactly, like the one on your tv...
Dont you remember this experience a few years ago, when a guy switched his wiimote with the wii sensor?
You ll be able to do that on wii u!

What do you think guys ?

That kind of thing on your tv coupled with the motion sensor in the pad and his screen could really be awesome

A guy from ubisoft told that it was black rubber to hide a dev port! But as you say, why put a port there? And why hide it with rubber?
And Why the f...ubisoft would declare anything about rubber?

Its not rubber at all, its the same plastic thatt cover infra red on the wiimotes and all ours remote controllers! Look how this black area perfectly fits the wiiupad angles.. And its arounded corners!
Nintendo didnt plan to reveal that fnctionallity righ now, so Ubisoft had to tell somthing because nintendo fans were already digging in

I sure hope not.
Pointing the Wii remote at the screen just to select your game was annoying.
Maybe it could be optional.

Theres already an ir sensor to point at tv and its on the top of he wii u pad. I like pointing at screen!
But the one i talk is design to locate your position in space !

Oh, I see it now:
http://img96.imagesh...2523/mysery.png
Looks like a rubber black sticker. Why would they put a port there?

Its there to point at your tv ! Like the wiimote point to yoursensor bar!
Wiith the johhny lee technique the wiiu can know where you are in space in realtime

I don't really see a point to it.
I'd get bored of it five seconds in, disable it and use the circle pad to move.

I dont say to have to use it for the whole gameplay, but Maybe for a phoenix wright game it could be fun to search clue in a virtual space.. Or for a shooting game alla crossbow training, id rather play it with this tech rather than the stupid gun tablet visor toy we saw at e3 last year!

What happens when you turn 90 degrees?
Do you add 6 more LED's or do you just use the first two LED's to remember where you were, and chart the course using the gyro?

Ahah lol, Now you resolve problem yourself ! You said it, you rely on the gyro!

lol. No I mean based on this idea:

-The sensor bar on the tv would have an IR emitter and receiver
-The Wii U controller would also have an IR emitter and receiver
so we have these two devices shooting beams at each other like a scene from Star Wars.
In the middle of all that, you might have a TV with a glossy finish... .

The two devices dont work together but only one at a time

Yeah and instead of tech issues, lets dream a bit of what Nintendo could do with it....hypothetically ;)

Speaking of 3-D, It's like a pseudo/3D experience without the price of an expensive 3DHDTV or silly glasses.
Anything that opens new possibilities to the way gamers game and developers design games is fine by me.

Yeah you right, opening new possibilities! That it!
And think about it, whats better for wii U than a system that see you track you,
the kinect + wiimote couple makes cool experiences, maybe nintendo made its own kinect!
it would bring awesomnes to this predictable tablet thing

And to come back at the start of this thread, What the F.. Is that rubber thing and why ubisoft would communicate on a piece of rubber?

We know for sure Nintendo is hinding at least 2 key functionnality of the wii u.
They had a LOT of time since the wii to develop new techs because the 3ds was not a big of a change and the wii itself was only an upgraded gamecube.
Sony and Microsoft had a lot of R&d with expensive systems to make and sell, witout profits
Ninendo by the same time will sell 2 systems, wii and wii u, low cost to make systems

If nintendo really wanna win the game they must do a lot more than ps360 and bring new ideas:
Touchscreen tablet is one of them, but once again, easy for nintendo theyve done it before
NFC is another idea, it will be ok for kids, collectibles etc..
So what do we need more:
Nintendo was the first with motion sensing game, they need to improve it once again! Thats where johnny Lee comes in!
The last piece of the puzzle is the online/socialgaming part! We need something new, and maybe rayman gives us another hint with the "bet" we can see on the video, you can send challenges to yor friends, make leveles, like in littlebigplanetes, dont know

give me your ideas, and What would you like?

#75637 WiiU tablet changes and new tech surprise!

That's how I envision it, without an LCD or anything. Just a card with a FFC reciever, FFC transmitting RFID tag, and a NFC RFID to pass along what you've caught to the Wii U at home.

This way i buy it

Ok now we have all wii u tech capabilities atures lol

#73767 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Rvaisse on 22 April 2012 - 11:21 AM in Wii U Hardware

I honestly believe that Wii U is going to sell for $350 USD. And if rumors are true and they are willing to take a loss per unit sold, then maybe $300-320 USD.

yep and in Europe it will be somthing like 349 euros !

#78844 whats that in the top right?

Posted by Rvaisse on 17 May 2012 - 03:36 PM in Wii U Hardware

Lol..^^
Whats interesting in this patent is the way the upapd is used. Like a second screen litterally, cant wait for a link crossbow 2 , waiting for targets on both screens!
And now people gonna throw their wiimotes at tv and/or upad ^^
