One of the first thinks I noticed. That's a TON of paint.
Even Destiny reuses a lot of textures and in Some areas takes the color palette really low.
But it till uses a ton of textures.
X however seems like and endless deluge of very large and variable graphics assets.
One of the more impressive things is looking down at the map from a high distance and not being able to notice texture tiles. That's huge. Try that with Skyrim and the like. Big difference.
Taking massive textures like that, the geometry, ai, scripting, collision detection, blighting, audio, etc... And fitting into aRam a with no loading... Whoa. That's dome serious load and memory management going on.
These guys deserve big sales just for being geniuses. Not to mention what's dhaping up to be a stellar game.

Jebus, the anti Xenobade trolls are at it again.
Every single article, they flood it with 'Its not doing anything Skyrim didnt do! Red dead redemption looks Way better!!!'
'It looks worse than last gen, it just has massive scale, thats all its got going for it over ps360!'
You cant discuss this game ANYWHERE outside without them showing up and crapping everywhere and circle jerking each other. How do they even believe their own garbage?
Good points.
But honestly, I feel Nintendo can eliminate a ton of this crap by simply marketing their games effectively. putting out high quality screenshots and videos all over the web (YouTube, create and send to ign etc...).
With X especially, unless you already own a wii u it was nigh impossible to see a good look at the footage.
If you see the YouTube videos, the "screenshots" all over the web, etc., they all look incredibly muddy, washed out, etc.
Then... You see the "direct" that moment Monolith put out and it's like "what the ohmygoshijustvomitedthewheatiesiateforbreakfastbevausethislookssofreakingamazing!"
It looks nearly like a different game because the difference between conpressed, decompressed, and decompressed again by the time it shows up anywhere. Then that crappy conpressed video gets a screen grab taken and compressed again into an even more crappy conpressed JPEG.
It actually makes me a little angry as this would be so freaking easy to fix by sending press kits with high quality screens and videos to the major players. And it would cost nearly nothing.
And the stinking media sites KNOW THIS. and they choose to use junk screens of junk videos.
When I show people the latest gameplay and tutorial video they unanimously freak out and have to have it.
Before then, they've heard of it a bit and weren't impressed.
It's all in the presentation.
Come on Nintendo.
Yes, we appreciate that you are focused on the GAME, not on swindling people out of their hard earned money.
But dadburnit, get with the program and have one or two people focus on marketing it right and leaving the industry with a proper high impression of the game.

A couple of Months back I looked at all the trailers and thought the reveal was the prettiest, unfortunately this is why. It sucks but it will still deliver.
It was.
Due to its cinematic composition.
But...when you see the SAME city later, you notice the graphics were actually bumped up a few notches.
The game is graphically far superior now.

lol clueless grammar Nazi,scary.
Anyway here is the trailer with English dubs. There is a telethia in the trailer which seems to nearly confirm it has a story tie with XB. I been theorizing that this will tie with XB but we shall see. May just be a nod.Heck maybe they loosely tie in all the Xeno games as there is so many nods to Xenogears and Xenosaga.
That trailer just sold the game.
Wow.
Every sci fi fans dream.
Perfect.

Don't know. Trailers all been 60FPS. However in RPG's like this doesn't matter as much.
Have to be honest. The trailers look way too smooth for that kind of detail in s game.
I'm expecting 30fps which itself will be great. If somehow 60 then they will literally have outdone themselves manifold times.

When they spend this amount of detail on bringing such high quality results to choices that players MIGHT make...
I just...
Wow.
This is the kind of game you make when you are looking at guaranteed sales in a much hyped platform with massive install base.
And here it is on the most criticized, small install base Wii U.
I'm actually really liking the exclusive feel of it. Like a Lamborghini oenergy.
But something tells me this is a system seller.
Even those media outlets that don't WANT to hype the game can't help themselves.
Especially in Japan. This is a Japanese dream.
And it has everything "western" and euro gamers go for as well.
Just wish it was out in the USA like right NOW.

Kinda shocked actually. The character designs are slightly more detailed in FF. but the monsters and the characters are very uninteresting. But the XBX world design looks more detailed than FF.
And the FF environment pretty much sucks. It's not even up to Skyrim standards with exception of textures. And the hills, etc are designed so you can't see too far. It looks like a total of four tree models used in obvious repetition, sparse rocks and vegetation, a lot of plain terrain. And the movement of th characters is pretty wonky.
Combat Looks kinda glitchy at this stage as well.
So weird to have this game on wii u looking that much better than the ps4 game (even though the game appears to borrow heavily from xenoblade) And so cool.
Ffxv just seems so "blah" whereas XBX looks epic and compelling.
Whether it sells huge numbers or not, congrats to the monolith soft team.
Wow.

But you gotta love "nex gen" eyeballs yo!
I mean you can't enjoy a good RPG without more veins in eyeballs. Lol it makes me laugh how this garbage suckers people in so easily.
Ooooo...
Ugly textures, light maps, two layers of polygons and a simple inversion in the middle...
That's next ten high tech? Lol
About as awesome as hand hairs in COD Ghosts....
The funny thing is X has more AAA qualities than AAA labeled games.
I don't see where they've cut any shortcuts. It looks epic, expensive, extensively crafted, extravagantly detailed, and I can't even begin to imagine how much money and manpower has gone into creating this masterpiece.
The single most desired game in my gaming life. Maybe be that changes after I get it (doubtful), but that's how I've felt for a while. And seeing the latest updates just really makes me sick with anticipation.
Now imagine a deluge of CGI, alive action, and some mixed media commercials plastered all over your favorite negworks, breeding or COD style.. And for an honest to goodness AAA game!
I'd think sales triple. Due to awareness alone.

And the lack of big time media hype for this game is... DISTURBINGLY peculiar.
Engadget gaming, IGN, gamespot, game informer, euro gamer, etc... Why is this game always buried under everything and tucked away in the Wii U section???
It's front page stuff. Especially now.
At least IGN featured it.
If ever there was a game to have commercial on TV for it, this is it. Heck, it could have done with a freaking Super Bowl ad.
If it was on any other system, the entire gaming community would be frothing.
As it is, with only so many wii u systems in the wild, I can see this thing moving hardware.
Even with the underlying negative sentiment toward wii u, this game seems to be the beacon for gamers to come back home. Lol
I cannot honestly remember a game trying so hard to be truly great...and looking like its succeeding.

Lol. Exactly. My guess would be the seamless world.
The extra layer would increase the rom size capacity of the disc, but with that extra 25GB of data on that disc, well, now you have an extra 25GB of data adresses to search through when looking for, say, that texture the game wants to stream in, thats not currently in ram.... With the same search/read speed you had back with half the data to search through.
When you are watching a movie and everything is sequential, it doesnt really matter, when you are playing a game that stops to load the next area, it also does'nt really matter. When you are playing a 400 km squared seamless open world game, and you are doing tons of random access calls to your disc I bet having to deal with an extra 25GB adds up pretty fast.
Oh, you mean like this?
I still can not believe how many people still swear up and down XcX is 'just on par with 360 open world games, its not doing anything ps360 hasnt done better in games like skyrim'
Its like they literally can not see the texture repeating every damn foot.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
This game just keeps looking more and more like pure psychotic awesomeness.
I may actually be anticipating this more than Zelda.

For some reason pretty much every saga 'fan' I know of outside this board absolutely hates Xenoblade and Xenoblade X (And has never played xenoblade), and any similarities and the fact its not on a playstation only seems to make them fester and hate more. Not that im surprised, this is, after all the 'fan' base that incessantly dog piled, mocked and ridiculed Sorayasaga to the point of attempted suicide when she needed support the most. They are already hate raging over this very screen. At least the gears fans are excited.
Anyways, Im pretty sure its beyond safe to say this is Episode 1 of the Xeno series. Modified for copyrights and the wisdom of experience gained of course, but this is blatantly chapter 1 of the Xeno story.
Maybe that's what puts the "cross" in the title. As in "crossover?"
Interesente.

I'm officially the most hyped for this out of any game I've ever wanted/owned/etc.
Wow.
Microsoft used to have an ad campaign called "show us your wow."
Well...Monolithsoft just did. And it's bad news for Microsoft. Lol.
I'm so glad they showed off a high quality video finally.
And the graphics are truly impressive.
Almost can't believe this is real.
Also notable is how SMOOTH everything runs.
The lighting and shadows are PERFECT.
The textures are better than I thought they'd be.
And the sheer SIZE of some of the textures boggles the mind. Nevermind the insane variety of them.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen such a gigantic, massive, truly epic game world like this in 3D. Ever.
And to have this quality of graphics while accomplishing that... And on the Wii U (the underpowered, barely better than last gen, [insert more incorrect hate statement here], etc.) no less!
The music is perfect. And has an enticing mix of whimsical And futuristic. And to be honest, it's actually stuff that is very cool even to popular top chart music lovers. Might just need to purchase the soundtrack.
Best thing to ever hapoen to Nintendo.
And this needs to become a franchise forever.
Not milked to death like AC, COD, etc. But an epic that releases at least once in every new Nintendo console.
Until the end of time.
Period.

Game looks tiny when you look at the 5 areas in this perspective.. hahaaha
lol. True.
But then again, the continents of the world look pretty tiny on a 2d map.
Oh man I can't believe how hyped I am for this game.
It literally clicks every button in me as a gamer, a music lover, an artist, and a fantasy/sci fi fan. All combined.
Only thing I'd change are some of the humanoid character designs. But even those are growing on me.
Except that dude with the hair like alfalfa from little rascals. That's just ridiculous looking. Lol

It's very well utilized. And far enough from other instances, but it's there. And it's a huge texture.
That's right... ONE repeat texture. Only visible from a very zoomed out stage.
It took a while, but I found it. I knew it would be there because it HAD to be. No way around it especially given file size constraints for 32 gb limited stock consoles. And the edges are so well matched to the surrounding textures that they just line up.
I'm on iPad atm, but when I get time, I'll circle the instances. Looks kind of like a light colored dirt spider shape.
Dang these guys are good.
When you see this kind of thing, you only appreciate the effort they've put in to truly CRAFT this game.
Just more hype for me. Lol.

Combining multple mediums.
This thing better bring the horsepower.
It's on thing to combine mediums. It's another thing to do it well.
I've always said the Wii U was a 5 year sysem. And its actually shrewd of them. PS4 is supposed to be a 10 year system.
If Nintendo brings ou the biig guns on the new system, then they will be perceived as the "cool" "hot new tech" and rightly so.
VR is a must. as an add-on. I dont care for it. At all. But its got the hype. And Nintendo was first to bring it home. But they didn't bring the power. So you had red lines. whoop de doo.
I think this will be special.

Intro after the other guys with better hardware.
Recently some Nintendo exec comments brought some doubt though.
Sounds like they are going after the "new thing" again.
The last time they tried a game changer was the Wii.
And that was just a rehashed older gem system sold for more. With a gimmick that actually worked out.
The Wii u was cashing in on the tablet craze. Unfortunately it hurt the budget allocation that could have gone to CPU, GPU, ram etc.
I hope they do something that genuinely enhances how games are played.
But... If they lowball specs again (que reggies maniacal sales pitch about destroying everyone and kicking butt, taking names, etc. only to reveal horribly lackluster hardware...) it's a bad move in today's market.
And furthermore, if they are not technically superior to the other guys, I'm personally done.
The Wii u is a good system in my eyes. But they could have and should have done much more with the hardware.
Like it or not, hardware specs can easily break a game.
Let's not have that happen anymore. K?

It's not going to replace Wii U. It's a third pillar. So no.
No. It's going to replace the Wi U.
Maybe. Lol
Or the 3ds.
They will coexist for a short time.
Perhaps this one full be a modular console that has game pad functionality and seperate, lesser powered handheld capability.
All speculation now. But being that it is meant to diverge from the Wii U while still being able to absorb the architecture, it's likely that is the main hardware they are looking to leapfrog.
It's the next generation dedicated system.
VR is just not s good concept. Never cared for it. Never will.
Too many are pushing it though. So it's bound to be a "thing" however short lived.
Separately, Augmented Reality is very cool. But there are only so many uses for that. But at least it's a legit helpful thing.
Having a screen of any resolution that close to your eyes is very bad. Just say no to VR. Your health will thank you later.
At least it will keep optometrists in business. Lol
On s side note, it's wise for nintendo to utilize the smart device industry. I guess they just needed to reassure themselves they weren't just latching onto an established fad.

Lol.Yeah, Nintendo tried that with the GameCube. Fancy hardware wont fix the stigma set by Sega's marketing. But outlasting the competition will. Xbox will be around for a while (but will be more of a Windows HTPC then the Xbox we know), but I don't know about Playstation. Their cellphone division is looking for a buyer, and their computers are hit or miss in popularity. I'm sure they will still be around, but I don't know.
But one thing's for sure, Nintendo is entrenched. It's userbase recognizes them for quality and they have major financial reserves. If a recession financial recalibration happens (which may or may not happen, consider politics that use brinkmanship is a key barganing tool and a mess of control) the major third party publishers will take a lethal hit (no one is going to buy EA's games in quantities vast enough to maintain their brainwashing advertisements), leaving Nintendo as the console with the most and best games.
Makes about as much sense as Nintendo risking their long-term exsistance by joining Microsoft and Sony's race to one-up the other.
Blaming the GameCube selling so few units on awesome hardware is ridiculous.
It was purple, looked like s kids lunchbox, had a stupid name, and didn't play DVDs (actually quite the big deal at the time) when both its competitors did.
In short, it looked, sounded, and performed like s child's toy. M
Did it have superior hardware? Yes. But no one cares when it looked and sounded like a Leapster on steroids.
The original NES was marketed above what it was and the gimmicks were actually quite clever. The idea of a family computer for games was great. And the Super NES built upon that premise outpouring the Genesis and holding hardware secrets that Nintendo didn't unlock until they felt they needed something extra.
The n64 was heavily anticipated and was poised to destroy play station... Until Nintendo chose to use archaic and limited cartridges instead of cheap CDs with much more capacity. This reason alone is why ff7 did not come to the n64.
Boneheaded decisions like those are what scared third parties away to the point where the wii was nearly all Nintendo.
Nintendo does need to play the big boy power game and cobtinue the trend they've restarted with wii u by upping their social, app ecosystem, and tech game.
Both ps4 and d- play blu Ray also. But it doesn't hurt so much in this digital download age as it did when the GCN couldn't play dvd and you couldn't listen to CDs on your n64.
Two things that Nintendo basically GAVE AWAY TO THEIR COMPETITORS:
1) system power (though the wii u is no slouch). The Wii just didn't even try. At all. The Wii u is a very capable, very well designed system. But Nintendo wasn't out to impress anyone. Yet the cold harsh reality is that we live in an era where people really do need to be impressed if you're going to sell to them (flappy bird game notwithstanding).
2) online. The Xbox 360 had really done a good job here, playstation at least tried, and the Wii just forfeit. The Wii u showcases the beginning of an online foundation. Complete with major growing pains (party chat and freind finding/making systems,I'm looking at you).
So if Nintendo continues their laser focus when it comes to complete, high quality, compelling games, but actually offers truly impressive hardware, with a cool system name (come on now. Wii? Wii U? Game cube? What the creaking heck) and killer online, that does what everyone wants a multitasking system to do, Nintendo actually has a shot at shutting down ms and sonys next systems.
Not only will we have amazing looking Nintendo games, but third party hits as well. And heck, if Nintendo wanted to get ballsy and secure a major third party IP or two or three for its console, then we are talking big big things in the future.
But all that means jack squat if the system isn't genuinely impressively spec'd.
And msking s truly powerful system won't risk their long term existence, it will ensure it.
The more they pii away money on underpowered systems and silly gimmicks that sound cool at the office, but result in catastrophic losses, the closer they get to having to do something else.
With a master plan that starts out with incredible hardware, then incredible software that runs on it, and wooing back third parties, striking deals for IP exclusivity on hit games, solidifying the online systems, and marketing the thing aggressively because they CAN, knowing the system backs up the marketing, they can very much usher in a new SNES era.
But the foundation of the entire thing is the hardware. Get it right and the options are limitless. Get it wrong and no one wants to play COD On your console when it looks twice as good on the other guys'

Wii U Hardware
Sony and ms don't do the hardware themselves they all work with partners. Just like Nintendo does.
Nintendo should beat them at their own game: build hardware that trumps them, woo third parties back, cut deals for some big and even game changing exclusives. And also don't forget who they are. Keep crafting the best gaming software on the planet. Only with higher production values afforded by the amped up hardware. No, not all the games have to be crazy graphically. But metroid and Zelda can definitely go for "better than uncharted 4" territory. And they'd sell. Kirby and the like can be built much cheaper.
And controls. No need to reinvent the freaking wheel every time. By now we know what works, what we like, and what we prefer. Just built a solid control system and don't have to dream up some completely new thing. I rather like a controller with buttons.
The main thing is the hardware. Give it some serious, serious POWER. Kick sonys butt from here to Kyoto and back. And then brag about it.
And with the software, make it somewhat mature and neutral. The wii u is freakishy jarring going from batman or splinter cell to the wii u menu or eshop. It quite literally LOOKS, SOUNDS, and functions like it was built for children only.
Sure have some elements for kids. But make it primarily neutral do your content can define it.
And have a freaking centralized online system where profiles are mobile. And have systemwide and gamewide voice and even video chat.
An app ecosystem that rivals or beats ms wouldn't hurt things.
Stop being satisfied with being number 3 and tear the reigns back from their beaten carcasses.
If Sony comes out with a certain gpu, make certain yours is better. More or faster ram. Faster cpu. Better architectural optimization, etc.
Nintendo can quite literally be the only console we need. But it's like they don't helieve in themselves. So they've bern happy to be the Mario console.
With respect, I think they did get aggressive ith wii u, but to a certain degree swung and missed on hardware, missed on making good use of an innovative controller, and executed not do well on an ambitious software/online/social/system setup.
This is what they should have worked on for the original wii.
But here they are. And now they'll be able to refine and grow.
Hopefully iwata sees the Wii was a one time wonder that came along at a perfect market shift bother time is gone.
And people want their console to be powerful. They expect feature packed online. Social. Apps. These are just a given.
Make sure these expected points are done. THEN work on differentiation. Don't simoly leave something out and call it "different."
This time be honest when u say you're kicking butt and taking names. And put out a machine that does exactly that.
And don't be afraid to make a console that sells for $400 or even more
Because it's worth it darn you!

Wii U Hardware
said some true things there but you know U done F up right... HA! serious question will Nintendo games support third parties? I mean I see some games returning maybe sports games but no matter the power they don't see enough sales on Nintendo hardware to make games for it.
They will if the nintendo system is the definitive console (ie: the one that the game I'm making will perform best on and attract the most gamers). I remember the n64 days. And before the release, it was being called ultra 64. And had arcade games based off of it that looked INSANE at the time. Everyone was waiting for this thing and Nintendo was poised to put playstation back in its place. Then... Cartridges. The entire world thought what the crap is this? And just that fast, nintendo lost a lot of third party support. Notably square soft, which was unable to fit a graphically ambitious (well...fmv heavy) game onto a cartridge or even multiple cartridges as Nintendos cartridge cost was way too high compared to CD AND THE STORAGE SPACE WAS A JOKE. here was this superior hardware gimped by crappy cartridges.
The thing currently is if you had a cod, tomb raider, madden, etc, it's simply going to look noticeably better on ps4.
So of course most people want to play the ps4 version. And playing COD on a sleek black console with a cool looking controller and neat colored lights with a sleek UI is a whole lot better experience for most people than pressing the power button on a purple lunch box... With a handle... In today's console landscape, the X11 and ps4 play it smart with their UI. BOTH LOOK SMART, NEUTRAL, COOL, AND SLEEK.. modern. Meanwhile, the wii u interface looks cobbled together for 4 year olds. And the system sounds...no.
Switch it up with a nintendo console that outpowers Sony, doesn't look or sound like a skittle threw up, has robust online and tools devs can easily make use of, and you have the makings of a third party love affair.
Nintendo CAN do it. And I think their stated mission to get hardcore gamers back with wii u has been sincere. But they've learned some hard lessons here. Can't wait to see those lessons applied to the next system.
Until then, I'll be quite content with X, Zelda, and hopefully a Metroid. But I have a feeling X is going to sap a looong time out of my life. Lol.
