#299680 Hey 3Dude (or other computer experts)

Posted by 3Dude on 03 October 2014 - 05:44 AM in The Café

I would suggest a barebones i5 quad with a board that you can upgrade.... Be around 250-300 bucks, with os.

Buy some ram, a 150-250 dollar gpu.

Wont have a small form factor.... But good bang for the buck.

Not just the performance of the i5, its a lot more mature techwise and reliable than amd cpu products right now.

Hey mahmood, I was talking about the build I posted having problems. The Samsung 840 Evo needs a firmware fix because it was discovered to be bugged, I found out, and I agree with you that the EVGA power supply is not the safest bet ever. Those are the two problems. Anyway, if you guys want to know what I'm going to do, PM me.

I know exaxtly what you are gonna do. Play games!

There is 250-300 bucks i5 barbones...Thats Great!!!!  Do you know some i can buy????

I would recommend nvidia because their GPUs are less power hungry

as i said; i5 is great but its alot more expegasus generatorve than its competitor in AMD(FX 8350)

Fry electronics on the west coast US, or if you ever can, the electronics district just outside of Yongsun in Korea is the most amazing place ive ever been for jaw dropping deals.

#299688 AAA publishers, we brainwash our customers, us military should too.

Do people believe it NOW?

#299693 AAA publishers, we brainwash our customers, us military should too.

Posted by 3Dude on 03 October 2014 - 08:02 AM in General Gaming

must read... 3dude brainwashed me into thinking this is not click bait. LOL. In all seriousness... the game industry has such a big ego that they think the US military and/or government.. and other governments do not already do this to some extent? It is usually called propaganda ... or marketing according to this guy.

I think that they believe they do it better. And I think they do.

Regaurdless, they are openly bragging about how their customers are idiots and they can brainwash them into doing anything, and thinking they like it.

#299696 AAA publishers, we brainwash our customers, us military should too.

Posted by 3Dude on 03 October 2014 - 08:14 AM in General Gaming

Yeah I will agree with you on that, no holds barred attitude... maybe Activision can brainwash Manuel Noriega into dropping the lawsuit.

BTW, i bolded your 1st sentence. I think that is key. If you THINK you do it better, others will think it too. Confidence spreads.

Well, as someone who has found out both parties are lying through their teeth, Ive found the AAA publishers have a much better track record for brainwashing believers than the military.

The hooah glammer wears off after you find yourself scrubbing toilets in basic instead of jumping off buildings while firing sams to ac/dc.

The 'gamers' gobble up anti consumer practices and think they like it, and will even ferociously defend it, as it diareea deficates in their face.

#299768 Just how badly CPU bottlenecked is the PS4/XBox One?

Posted by 3Dude on 04 October 2014 - 07:23 AM in General Gaming

Well the clocks ARE pretty low at around 1.6-1.8 Ghz, but they get pretty good ipc, there are 8 cores but... properly using all 8 and things that dont benefit from concurrency.....they do have extremely low overhead compared to pc. But at the end of the day, it IS a tablet cpu, and gets stomped by pretty much anything midrange.

I wish they hadnt gone with amd cpu.

#299773 Why I like AMD and ATI

Posted by 3Dude on 04 October 2014 - 07:37 AM in The Café

I loved ati,and even though it may not look like it right now, I like amd... Its just they have been in a really rough spot since the bulldozer architecture didnt pan out as well as they thought, requiring extensive fixes over time.

They need a new solid SIMPLE, STRAIGHTFORWARD architecture thats immediately performance compatable with current os's to ground themselves again. CPU's should be truly general purpose, only excelling under specific scenarios is no good.

I like amd, i just cant really recommend them right here and now. Im just waiting. (amd cpu's)

#299774 Just how badly CPU bottlenecked is the PS4/XBox One?

Posted by 3Dude on 04 October 2014 - 07:43 AM in General Gaming

@3Dude - I don't think AMD is the problem. They should have lowered the graphics performance, gone quad core, and raised the clock speed to crazy level.

AMD's not the problem, just their current product line post bulldozer snafu.

Thats not going to be easy dealing with a closed box. I can see why sony and MS rejected that path this time, looking at the abysmal failure rates of ps3's and 360's, and the electricity bills that came with them... in todays economy.

Another problem with going with 'crazy clock speeds' is the fact you need to increase cpu stages to get there. Kind of a problem, it has its pros and cons.

Jaguar already increased its cpu stages to support higher clockspeeds over bobcat, for a 10-15% performance improvement via higher clockspeeds. THat also increased branch mispredict penalties to 14 cycles wasted everytime a prediction misses. You want to beef clock speeds 3-4x, you are going to need to lengthen that cpu pipeline, and that mispredict penalty is also going to skyrocket, and soon you will be looking at up to 100 cycles lost per miss. Out of order helps, but those damn things stack up, and fast.

Oh, HERE!

Im sure you will have fun with this.

http://develop.scee....GC2013Final.pdf

Sony actually did a pretty good job bypassing most of these bottlenecks that would assuredly appear. By removing dx overhead, and using multithread rendering, theyve eliminated a lot of the bottlenecks they would normally run into. For example, they can blow draw calls out the wazoo compared to pc.

#299789 An ACTUAL Bayonetta Wii U/360 Comparison

Posted by 3Dude on 04 October 2014 - 01:53 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The good news is that the enhanced Bayonetta 1 on Wii U has faster loading times, better shadow effect, and 0% screen tearing compared to Xbox 360 original and the abysmal PS3 port.

It also almost identically matches and in some areas exceeds the 360's framerate and performance, which is a surprise being the 360 was the system game was tailor made for.

Those rare garbled textures are a bummer, but if its simply a mistake importing/transferring texture coords like it looks like, it can be fixed with an easy patch.

Also, where are the trees?

Thats definately creative mode terrain editing.Guess theres no survival? Or trees lol. Maybe hell keep updating. A lot.

#299844 An ACTUAL Bayonetta Wii U/360 Comparison

Posted by 3Dude on 05 October 2014 - 08:06 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Are you ignoring the words "screen tearing" on purpose?

No, its a wii u game. Wii u games dont have screen tearing because nintendo seems to demand vsync.

Its been this way so consistantly its not something you need to state unless it DOESNT have vsync.

#299872 FFXV Trailer does it's best Xenoblade impression

Posted by 3Dude on 06 October 2014 - 09:45 AM in General Gaming

so they are going for xenoblade, without the environments, doubtfully a comparable story, combat reduced to assassin's creed quality, A joke list of characters, on rails

Yes. Yes they are. Backed by enough marketing to garuntee a tidal wave of positive reviews, enough hype to get all the clueless to buy day 1... And then a month later op disillusioned dissapointment threads across the internet.

#299874 My Gigabyte Brix Gaming review

Posted by 3Dude on 06 October 2014 - 11:45 AM in The Café

Okay so here are your answers:

Regarding the integrated graphics, I did not know 30FPS was that good in Half-Life 2 :).

There is a huge power brick that's big but kind of flat. Does this mean the power supply is external?

Yes, I'm pretty sure it does have Bluetooth.

And regarding Ubuntu, Half-Life 2 actually runs better in it. But I recommend you don't install Ubuntu on it. It doesn't work correctly out of the box with it, and installing the proper graphics driver requires jumping through a few hoops including using the 'Terminal'. But that's up to you.

Power is definately external just by looking at the slick package.

Glad youre happy man, game on!

#299875 Just how badly CPU bottlenecked is the PS4/XBox One?

Posted by 3Dude on 06 October 2014 - 12:42 PM in General Gaming

The most important is not the raw power but optimization, with Windows computers are not well optimized

Well yes, I posted some documentation from sony showing how they eliminated a lot of pc bottlenecks that windows and d3d come with.

But at the end of the day, it IS a tablet cpu, so its going to have trouble with code it cant accelerate through paralellization.

I would imagine things like multiple branchy ai's would give the tablet cpu fair trouble, and optimization will only go so far.

#299881 Just how badly CPU bottlenecked is the PS4/XBox One?

Thought I would put this here, Ubisoft quote regarding Assassin's Creed Unity for PS4 and X1

"Technically we're CPU-bound," he said. "The GPUs are really powerful, obviously the graphics look pretty good, but it's the CPU [that] has to process the AI, the number of NPCs we have on screen, all these systems running in parallel."[/size]

Ah, well, there it is.

So, I'm working away from home until November, so I'll have the full game before I can download the demo. But has anyone tried it? Does it seem to give the game justice?

From impressions around the web, very much so.

#300037 Ubisoft openly calls you an idiot: 60 fps is 'bad'

Posted by 3Dude on 09 October 2014 - 07:06 AM in General Gaming

http://www.techradar...tandard-1268241

"At Ubisoft for a long time we wanted to push 60 fps. I don't think it was a good idea because you don't gain that much from 60 fps and it doesn't look like the real thing. It's a bit like The Hobbit movie, it looked really weird."

"Alex Amancio, the game's Creative Director, reiterated this point: "30 was our goal, it feels more cinematic. 60 is really good for a shooter, action adventure not so much. It actually feels better for people when it's at that 30fps. It also lets us push the limits of everything to the maximum."

Bayonetta says to go flock yourself ubisoft.

Dont you you damn DARE try to tell me what I think 'feels' better.

#300100 Wii U gamepad issues... HELP!

Posted by 3Dude on 09 October 2014 - 10:53 PM in Wii U Hardware

Wtf? That blows.

https://d3nevzfk7ii3...3YSCBbjEsk.huge

This guy right here is probably your problem, one or both of those of those connectors may have come off a little, making for a spotty connection, and reduced range.

You may be able to fix it rather easily by hand, by opening up the gamepad and making sure the connections on that antenna are firm and secure.

Its really easy to access, in fact, once you get the screws out and simply lift the back off, you can see and access it.
